    Roster Moves by the Wings

Alright so I guess what I heard was a debunking of the 'glass is a liquid' which it is not. Anyway, Roster Moves eh? Whatever moves have to be made when it happens, if any, it's nice knowing we've got Dats in the bullpen to add to this group that is already playing pretty well

    Roster Moves by the Wings

I always heard that too, but recently I heard that it wasn't true (and I think it was from someone reputable like Neil deGrasse Tyson or someone like that who would know)

Ty for trying your best Johan.... But your health and family is more important

It's kind of funny to think that Abdelkader has the exact amount of points as the entire Penguins' roster put together thus far, and Zetterberg has 2 more than that.

Please retire Mule. For your family and your own health retire.

It's just not worth it big man time to hang up the skates and hope he can have a normal life.

I for one can't stop laughing. It's always hilarious when we trade a friggin all-star for a washed up vet.

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=glass+is+not+a+supercooled+liquidEither way, I was just playing off what you said, not debating the validity of your statement scientifically. Edit: I was beaten to the response.

I really feel bad for him, I was actually excited to see how he does this season, I was optimistic. He seemed really energized to play in the few games he was in. He shouldn't play again until he goes a few months without symptoms instead of just a couple weeks.

Why Is The Joe Half Empty?

I don't think it's fair to throw the word "fickle" around so much. You have to understand the excitement the Wings were generating back in the 90s. We went from perpetual cellar dwellers to a damn good team. That kind of turnaround and excitement is impossible to sustain. And there a many, many fans who came into hockey appreciation while the Wings were at their peak; first round exits seem heartbreaking to them rather than realizing making the playoffs for more than two decades is a real achievement to be savored. When I first started going to hockey games, you could pick your seat no matter what your tickets said. It was that empty. There are comparatively few fans still around from the 60s, 70s and 80s who were fortunate enough to watch the (painfully) slow rise to near-dynasty. There are far more post 80s fans now, and they are absolutely spoiled. It's going to take another serious Cup run to get people truly excited again. While I don't agree so much with that way of looking at the Wings and their success or perceived lack of it, I understand it.

Anyway, we don't know what this means besides the fact that he's only on IR not LTIR. We'll see if it's just a precautionary short term thing on the path of him coming back or maybe he was concussed again or whatever.

This makes me sad. I just got this from my father when he got it signed.
  15. 1 point
Have you been paying attention to concussions for the past 10 years? He missed 1/3 of last season from symptoms (from a tap to the chin) and complained of symptoms all off season Came back for 2 games (with seemingly minimal contact) and hes out again. It does NOT look good for mule.

I don't think he got hit. He just didn't have symptoms, got cleared, and then symptoms came back. It was worth a shot if he was feeling up to it. I can't imagine anyone, in any industry, wants to be forced to call it quits.

    Olympia memories

Not sure how many posters we have old enough to have attended a game there. If only GordieSid&Ted didn't get banned.

Well, the old me would have said something here, but I am just going to say, you gave it your best try Franzen, you actually looked like you belonged on the ice again. I have to say, a lot of us saw this coming, lets just be glad he tried and also we didn't lose anyone to waivers either. Moving forward this should be a great opportunity for Pulk or Jurco to come in and steal a permanent spot! What is with Helm? Was it just a shoulder injury or was there concussion symptoms as well? I honestly forgot...

Reminds me of the story where Bowman was coaching the Habs and they were on a road trip. Curfew was 11PM or something. He gave a clean hockey stick to the doorman at the hotel and told him to ask anyone coming in after 11 that looked like a hockey player for an autograph. The next morning at practice, after collecting the stick, he walked into the dressing room and threw it in the middle of the floor. Or something like that. Anyway, that's genius.

Looks great. What the hell has Abdlekader done for this team anyway?
  22. 1 point
Meh, I've actually done this before and have had other things go awry with alarms. I understand there's no excuse, especially for a captain, but these things do happen. He might get fired for this in the non-sports world if he was at a replaceable position, like something blue-collar, entry-level, or minimum wage. But when you're important enough/high enough in your company that is certainly not the case. And Ovie has a lot of importance within his organization. Replace "Best Player On Team" with "Top Broker In Firm". Neither is going to fired for being late. They are the face of their business.

I think that outside of the first 2 periods in Carolina, the Wings are playing great. Sure the top line has most of the points, but its not like the 4th line isn't doing their job and the middle two are flying around generating some chances. Pulk and Nyquist are both on the board, Tatar is getting chances, but he is also getting more coverage. I think Richards is doing what he needs to do and that is be a very solid center and create some chances. The PP is doing fine, as is the PK. The D is better than last season's D at moving the puck out of the zone and staring the play. Goalies have been on fire. I really don't think there is much to complain about. Teams have games like the one in Carolina, and goalies sometimes steal those games like Petr did. They dominated TO, stole a game in Carolina and skated all around Tampa. I watched most of it and they seemed a lot faster than Tampa for most the game. At least in my opinion. Put it this way, they didn't get outplayed by Tampa like they did by Carolina. I know he didn't score, but Jurco had some flashes of speed and a couple of nice shots on goal. Not everyone scores every game, not all lines dominate. Soon enough Richards line is going to start putting some in and Z's is going to cool down. Z is not going to get 91 points, Abby isn't going to score 109 goals and Larkin isn't getting 100 points. They will slow down and another trio will take over. Gus and Tat will get their 25-30 goals (more hopefully) and our D will start tallying points as well. I don't expect them to go undefeated obviously, but I can see them being #2-#3 in the East if not challenging for #1. They already cooled down a hot Tampa team, we'll see how they match up against MTL and NYR when the time comes. Got to watch out for CBJ and NYI as well! FLA looks good plus they had our number last season. It's going to be tough, but from what I have seen thus far, they look great and no other team has really looked too much better. I've even watch some western teams, nobody really worries me. Anaheim looks good, can't wait to see how we match up against them!

Wow they were right when they said the transition from Babcock to Blashill wont be much of a difference. Jurco on the 4th line.. AGAIN!
