Current logo is better and has history. This looks like a MLS logo.

If you don't like Helm I dont know what to say. Sure, he shouldnt be in the top 6 but anywhere in the bottom 6 and hes one of the best in the league. Its not his fault that our coaches think he should be playing on scoring lines

    Making a move with AUTHORITY!

Regardless of team and Mgmt rationalizations for the 2015-16 season and softball assessments from Detroit's press, it's clear this club has worn the tread off the Winged Wheel. So the faithful don't hyperventilate, get a paper bag handy. The present day Wings can't score or defend. If not for the Parise-less Wild, they would have been the worst team to make the playoffs. Ah ...., let me restate that: They were the worst team to make the dance at a -13 goal differential. Now that we have the cold hard facts of the away, let's give the DRW brain trust something to think about: * No one, NO ONE, on this team should be considered untouchable. * Who really believes Petr Mrazek can be an elite goaltender, capable of putting the team on his shoulders and win a PLAYOFF game(s)? * Who really believes that there is a #1 or #2 D-man on this team? Call me old fashioned. I remember Jacques Demers and Bryan Murray to Mike Babcock and Jeff Blashill. The 25-year playoff run and four Stanley Cups were built from the Defense out. Understanding that Nicklas Lidstroms and Duncan Keiths don't grow on trees, the Wings -- with an excess of more than capable and trade friendly forwards -- need to make the strongest play for THE top defenseman in the '16 Entry Draft. What better way to pay final respects to the Joe and open a new barn than with the reassertion by the Detroit Red Wings as SERIOUS players in the chase for the Cup!

    Holland (selfishly) declined promotion

You hit the nail on the head, they made the right move at the time. Plus it didn't matter who was the GM of this team was, this team was headed for an inevitable decline at some point. it's a part of the cyclical nature of hockey. How we escaped it for 17 years is a testament to how good of a job Holland and company did with this team. Whoever the GM was when this time came was going to get blasted by fans. Had Yzerman been appointed GM and the team declined under his watch, people would be saying "we had the best GM in hockey, and we let him go for a guy who has proven nothing as a GM, so sad"

Curses out reporters? Tirade? I think that's over exaggerating things. He's pissed and is showing some emotion, it'd be nice if someone on the Wings showed some emotion over their losses sometime and maybe there wouldn't be so many of them.

I have no idea what your beef is with the Blues... I'd like the Blues to win it all. Blues in 6

When was Jurco's chance? He played with Luke Glendening and Drew Miller on the 4th line. He may ultimately be a bust, but I'm not going to judge a skilled forward based on that usage.

Read between the lines. All he is saying is that the team can't be a dominant force like it has in the past. The best a team can hope for now is to get a young core together and be competitive for a bunch of years, then start over. He is not saying we should be okay with scraping into the playoffs every year and lose in the first round. It's gonna take a bit of time to contend again. He is trying to keep expectations in check until the team once again gets there.

Yeah looks like the mlive article he sort of clarified his stance when he said he loves the city, team, organization. Glad that clears that up. I found this quote interesting though - "Winning is a big part of it," Helm said. "I really don't mind playing on the bottom lines as long as there's that respect factor. He definitely sounds like a "jilted" lover as you say. In regards to your point on him centering. I've said it a few times this year... it was awesome when he was our 3rd line center and I have no idea why they moved away from that. He was always a pretty good faceoff guy and his speed alone was deadly for 3rd line pairings. I really hope they use him in the role moving forward.

Forgot game 7 was last night. Before I just checked who won, won, I figured Chicago did. Makes the season for me to see the Blues pulled off the win. By one goal. Was a near choke, but the f***in Hawks are GONEZO!! Yeahhhh!!

I'm with F. Michael on this one, once the Red Wings are eliminated, I start pulling for the remaining team that has either never won or has gone the longest without winning, in this case I'm hoping for a Blues/Caps final, with the Blues winning it all since they have been around longer than the Caps by a few years. In all honesty though, I don't really care who ends up winning, as long as Chicago is out.

They haven't won it all because the Gods hate them. The Stars have never won a legitimate Cup, so they have something to prove also. I suggest you change your avatar to a Scott Parker Sharks avatar and root for Joe and the boys to bring a Cup to Silicon Valley.

This year is weaker than years previous, and next year and so on will be weaker again, that's the way the NHL is going. Teams are locking up their stars, so not near as many hit the open market, hence the importance of drafting and developing... I've stated my opinion on this so many times now, but here it is again. Like you said, we're not getting any of the top "current" defensemen, aka Doughty, Weber, Pietrangelo, etc. The key is looking for young, up and coming defenders, that you think have a chance to develop into the next wave of elite defensemen. Who that is? I'm not sure, but they're out there. I want us to go hard after Jacob Trouba, not because I think he is an elite defenseman, but because I think he has all the tools and potential to become an elite defenseman in a few years. I also think he is better than the majority of what we have on our blueline right now, and even if he doesn't hit his ceiling, he will still be a very solid second pairing defenseman. So we can go after a Keith Yandle and pay him $6+M to be our second pair defenseman, basically a left handed Mike Green, or we can package together a deal that could bring Jacob Trouba in with a floor of second pair defenseman and ceiling of elite top pair defenseman...

Lol, Helm's not happy with his "situation"? Apparently playing with Pavel for a good portion of the season displeases him. Screw that guy. Tell you what buddy, make good on any of the 10,000 breakaways you get and we'll talk turkey.

I wonder what kind of deal we could get if we ordered monocles in bulk. The whole lgw community needs one for celebrating our wins.
