While we are putting teams in some of the hottest places in the US, why not try for Atlanta or Arizona while we're at it and see how hockey does in those kinds of markets. Oh wait..

Actually? Wow that would be amazing. Hoping it's true

That and more importantly i believe a team will relocate to Quebec City ... Maybe Carolina Hurricanes And don't forget Winnipeg got Atlanta during a hockey season so it's a possibility Quebec also joins Vegas in 2017-2018

Vegas Cash Grab. Either every seat will be sold and less than half used, or less than half will be sold at all. Large portion of the permanent population works nights and/or has better things to spend money on. Horrible idea.

They might make some money out of people who choose to go to Vegas when their team is playing. I doubt people would go just to see the game. It would be more like, "When are we going to Vegas?" "I don't know. Check the schedule and see when the Wings are playing the Crap Shooters and we'll go then." Who knows, though... maybe people who live in Vegas who came from colder regions (or California) who are already hockey fans will support a team just to have some hockey games to attend. I still think it's a dumb idea though.

Awesome, another city that will be filled with Red Wings fans at away games!

Gretzky looks rough. Eesh Anyone have the names of all in that photo?

Quebec City must be fuming right now. Why would the league expand at all when teams like Florida, Carolina and Arizona can't draw fans to their games?

Silliest thing I have heard in a long time but it's Bettman so what do we expect. People who live in Vegas don't like to go anywhere near the strip so why would you expect them to come to the strip to watch a sport they have no interest in watching? The novelty of guys like me going to a Wing's game once a year or every couple of years will wear off pretty quick. Over/under on this lasting more than 7 years?

In an industry that is rampant with homers (Olcyskcysztvcyk), idiots, and people only trying to make a name for themselves, Strader is one of the few that has risen above it. Best wishes to him on a full and speedy recovery.

Speaking with the words of some unknown Detroit rapper, "Will the real Darren Helm please stand up"

How has this poel troll not been banned yet? There's no way he / she is serious about all of this Helm hate... I'm drunk as f*** right now and seriously laughed out loud through the entire post... thanks poel, keep it up bud... And FYI.... I AM DARREN HELM!...

It's days like today when you feel weird being away from home. Gordie meant so much to us in Detroit and the hockey world. He was a hero some of our parents grew up with and legend to us kids. When we'd see him at an event or at a rink, you knew you were in the presence of pure, bonafide greatness. The hockey world won't be the same, but we won't forget.

I'm retired from posting on this board but I must make a brief return just to say this and then I'll be retired again... Poel, you are a complete moron. lol Mike Babcock once called Darren Helm the best 3rd line centre in the league. So you know more about hockey than he does? Seriously...Helm isn't even a good 4th liner? Do you even watch hockey? So you're one of those guys who thinks you're right just because you say are. Guess what? You're completely wrong. Why? Because I said so. See, I know everything just like you do. If Helm is so bad, then why is he in the NHL? How did he make it? Helm gives the puck away all the time? When? Once when you saw him play? Guess what genius...every player gives the puck away. I don't care how good you are. So if Helm gives the puck away a lot (which he doesn't) then it must mean that he has the puck a lot of the time, yes? Or are his opponents just letting him always have the puck? Maybe, he has the puck alot because...he is a good player? Nah of course not! He is useless right? Helm is an excellent third line player. He has speed, grit, tenacity and is solid defensively. If he is so bad then why is he consistently used late in games when protecting leads? Only Andersson was worse than Helm last season? So you're saying guys like Jurco, Pulkkinen, Miller, Richards were better? Lol How? If Helm is so bad then why are teams willing to sign him as a UFA this summer? He will likely get between 3-4 million per season on the open market. I don't think Holland Will 're-sign him because his hometown Winnipeg Jets likely will offer him more term and money. Anyway, I'm done now and will go away again. I just wanted to let you, Poel, know that your posts about Darren Helm are the most idiotic posts I've ever read on a hockey message board. Congrats, Yours truly, Darren Helm

"I pick Gordie as my No. 1 all-time player. He played the longest. He was the toughest player of his era. He was the best offensive player and defensively. He was used in all situations. He could play center, right wing, and defense. He could shoot right and he could shoot left. If you could make a mold for a hockey player it would be him. I never thought there was another player close to him. -Scotty Bowman

RIP Big Man. You built what we all enjoy today, there are no words that can tell you how much that means to all of us in Wings nation.

So sad... Rest In Peace Gordie. You were and always will be a legend, not just to Red Wings fans but the world of hockey...

I have not seen this confirmed anywhere else. If true, I am happy Gordie got a second chance with the medical treatments he received, and got to enjoy a little quality time with his family -- and got to witness how much Hockeytown fans love him at his birthday at the Joe.
