Vanek says Merry Christmas and gives Nielsen a goal on his stick and he flubs it. For the first time in a while it feels like i'm watching hockey right now. It's an intense, fast, physical period that I have rarely seen out of this team this season. It's nice for a change.

He definitely wasn't fine to start the season. He was classic inconsistent Mrazek. And while I can't stand Blashill as a coach, I agree with him at least in how he's handled the goalie situation, although Coreau starting tonight is a head scratcher.

I've noticed Kronwall bringing back his physical game here in the last few, it's giving me a little more confidence in his ability to play on those knees.

Stupid penalties do not make a team better, it just puts you on the PK more often. A player being tough and gritty is completely different then a player slashing other players when he gets upset. When I think of that I think of a whiny Sydney Crosby in 2009. Our team is not "stale", we lack elite talent AND we have alot of injuries. You take a few of the top players away from a team already lacking top guys, and this is what you get.

So in other words, you took an opinion you had and like usual tried to sell it as fact. Also, there is a big difference between a player saying "I enjoy playing with player X" especially if the question asked was "do you like playing with player x". Your comment was that "Datsyuk asked to play with Mantha". I cant even see Datsyuk telling the media this.

You need balance. Some of these guys (why are you listing Pulkkinen he's on Minny) could be great fits on certain teams in certain situation, but together on a team without elite talent they aren't being utilized properly. Not to mention the constant changing of lines by Blashill. You take a player with Nyquist's talent and put him in Chicago on say Kane's line, I bet he would look amazing. You float him around from line to line in Detroit and he looks ok. Also, when a team is losing blame gets passed around to everyone. If we weren't what we were in the late 90's, early 2000's no chance guys like Draper, Maltby, McCarty would be praised as much as they were. On the flip side, take Abby and Helm and put them on our 1997 team instead of McCarty and Draper, not a bad thing would be said about them.

Sure, defense is really important. But my point is without offense you will most likely NOT win a championship and that quote "offense wins games, defense wins championships" is nothing but a myth/fairytale line in todays hockey. And yes our problem has become twofold now. It used to be defense in 2013-ish and now we've got both offense and defensive issues.
