From my POV, Vegas play an aggressive heavy fore-checking game where they try to grind down the opponent and turn the puck over, and once they get the turnover they immediately try to make a play. Tatar looks completely out of place in this system. He still looks like he's still trying to play the ol' Detroit positioning style where he try's to position himself in relation to the puck, and once he gets it he tries to do the ol' Detroit slow the game down routine. This is essentially the exact opposite of what Vegas is trying to do, thus he's looking bad right now and desperately needs to start adjusting if he's gonna succeed in Gallant's system. He did get a break-away though! ...but he just clapped it from faraway instead of even trying to dangle the goalie

Kenny said, per Todd Nelson, the Griffins plan was to have Rasmussen play 2C once Tri-Cities was eliminated. Sucks he didn't get that chance/experience. A good performance probably would have helped his chances at making the Wings in the fall.

No. They'll take him with the hopes that they have Karlsson's replacement so they can trade him before he hits free agency.

Enticing Karlsson to stay will be as simple as paying him what he deserves.. and if they don’t want to do that, there’s no way they’re also adding JT. So far it sounds like the sharks and flyers will both make a big push for Tavares. New Jersey’s GM was recently approved to spend to the cap.. him and Hall would be a deadly combo. I’m sure plenty others will join in as well.. sorry, I’m getting too off track. But he’ll get to pick his next team out of a pretty decent chunk of the league. I highly doubt an internal budget team like Ottawa is one of them though. I don’t think whoever Ottawa takes will impact Karlsson at all. But Karlsson leaving, seems like it would almost guarantee they take a defenseman in the first imo.

And 10 years from now when Boqvist is looking for a big pay day, they'll take the next elite Swedish defenseman in the 2028 draft in hopes he can replace Boqvist. Rinse and repeat. I feel so bad for Sens fans...

He's Swedish, so I like him.

Any team interested in him will know anything and everything about his medical condition. Having had a concussion does not automatically mean risk. There is so much more to it. Hearing that word and automatically assuming risk is just being paranoid. Boqvist would be an amazing get for us or any other team that can't have Dahlin.

Ahh good look. Yeah that would’ve helped for sure.. i still like his chances though. Can’t wait for camp/preseason.

In some ways, I almost wish that we did drop back to 8th. That way there would only be one of Dahlin,Svech,Zadina Tkachuk, Wahlstrom, Boqvist, Hughes and Bouchard left for Holland to take and I wouldn't have to listen to all of the "Holland took the wrong player" bickering for the next 10-15 years.

That's the problem with him tho. I know scoring forwards are streaky at times, but I want a guy who can be counted on when it matters if he's a permanent fixture in my top 6. Nyquist is the same way which made Tatar redundant. trading him was a good move.

Maybe they'll turn into a decent NHL pairing and we can refer to them as the "Czech Mates".

Sulak and Hronek are joining Czech Republic at worlds. Should be some good experience for them.

If he were with the team, he'd definitely be playing. Their offense was depleted and he'd likely instantly be one of their better (maybe best) players.

Yes. Which is why a lot of mock drafts have the Wings picking him. Its a thing. I would be happy with either. I prefer them over Hughes cuz they're both RH. Something lacking on our D at this time. If I had a gun to my head and had to pick one, I guess I would go Boqvist. I just don't think he'll be there unless Ottawa goes F with their pick.

Yeah it's pretty easy to win Stanley Cups when you're the only team who's allowed to have 7 players on the ice.

So much for "draft lottery luck". Didn't we drop a spot from the final standings? That being said, it could have been worse, still get a good player. I agree with the comment above of taking best available regardless of position. We need D, but if a forward with more upside is still on the board, snag him. Hawks getting the 8th is a joke. They're contenders with a healthy Crawford. Oh well.

He was the guy I hoped we got but at that age with two concussions I would be steering clear. Hughes is who I would love to see unless anyone projected above him doesn't get taken.

I think Hughes tends to rely too much on skating circles around everyone. Granted, he's a good enough skater that he could probably do a lot of that even in the NHL. I don't really care if he gives up goal scoring to improve other aspects of his game, but I would like to see more of a focus on something other than skating. Then again, that's just based on highlight reels so there's a good chance my impression is skewed. I've soured a little on Bouchard, not necessarily because I don't like him, but because Cholowski also isn't that fast. I'd like to add some more speed to our D prospects. Dobson from what I've seen can skate really well when he wants to (kind of the opposite of Hughes in that he doesn't seem to use it enough). Unlike most people, I'd rather he work on that than bulking up.

I saw a mock draft today which has us taking Hughes. I'd rather go with size in Bouchard or Dobson, instead of 5'9 Hughes. However, I haven't watched any of them play, so I don't want to be called a FiveFootNineophobe

Boqvist and Hughes are in fact very similar players. Primarily offensive guys with a game built around their skating ability. Of course there are differences, but I'd say any team interested in one would have nearly equal interest in the other. For me, the only reason I like Boqvist more is because he's almost a year younger, which could make a huge difference at that age.

Where do u think Nashville got one of theirs?

I'm more impressed by your ability to bullet point the hell out of this interview. Clearly you didn't do s*** at work today.

This is the type of stuff I wanted to hear from him last year once the playoff streak ended, but i'll take it.

Trash. Lost 5-1. I didn't expect them to go far without Bertuzzi, Turgeon and Lorito, and after losing Tangradi to suspension, the loss was inevitable. I was just hoping they'd make it a little further to see what Rasmussen could do in the AHL for a few games.
