How’s it dumb? It’s a fact isn’t it ? I’m not making s*** up ... we don’t know 100% if he’s gonna have a repeat performance , we hope he does Good ... whatever , we’re done here Oh I don’t think he’s in a rush at all , I’m expecting us to move the Daley’s and greens etc... by next deadline that’s about it , maybe take a risk on a one year player like nicushkkn or who Evers available for cheap

I've read reports that there were some behind the scenes issues in Pittsburgh, specifically regarding Kessel, Malkin and Sullivan. Sounds like both sides wanted to move on, because from a "hockey" perspective, this seems like a bad move. Here is an article from The Score. https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/1791799 The Phil Kessel saga is seemingly never-ending. The Pittsburgh Penguins remain interested in trading Kessel, preferably before free agency begins on July 1, sources told The Athletic's Rob Rossi. This comes less than a month after general manager Jim Rutherford said it was unlikely he would deal the winger. Kessel is signed for three more years with a $6.8-million cap hit and can veto a trade to all but eight teams of his choosing. Sources told Rossi they believe Kessel's eight-team list includes five which the Penguins would never trade him to, along with three others that can't afford his cap hit. He reportedly used his no-trade clause to nix a move to the Minnesota Wild in May for a return that would've been headlined by Jason Zucker. Rossi adds that Pittsburgh's desire to trade Kessel stems from a rift with head coach Mike Sullivan. The 31-year-old wants to play on the club's second line, centered by Evgeni Malkin, but Sullivan occasionally drops Kessel down to the third line when the two aren't clicking. Separating Kessel and Malkin worked marvelously during Pittsburgh's Cup run in 2016 when the winger anchored the "HBK" line with Nick Bonino and Carl Hagelin. Some also think Kessel is partially at fault for Malkin's declining defensive play over the past two seasons. Sources told Rossi that they believe Malkin has picked up some of Kessel's bad defensive habits, including "inconsistent backchecking, inattentiveness regarding own-zone responsibilities, and poor puck management in the neutral zone." Off the ice, Sullivan and other staff believe Kessel would be a better player - and set an example for younger Penguins players - if he showed a "greater commitment to fitness," sources told Rossi. Furthermore, Kessel's status as a regular at a local casino was apparently not viewed as an issue until younger players, including Jake Guentzel, started joining him there on days before games, which other players were told was frowned upon. Kessel hasn't missed a game since the 2009-10 season. He tallied 45 points in 49 playoff games during Pittsburgh's two Stanley Cup triumphs and has enjoyed the best two-year stretch of his career during the last couple of seasons, during which he's registered 174 points in 164 games.

.I'm sure glad we didn't trade Yzerman after 2 or 3 years of being the most dynamic player on this team. You don't trade your young guns, period. You draft and develop. If Yzerman was going to trade AA for a #1 D man, he would've drafted Cozens or Zegras at #6, instead of who he feels is going to be his #1 D Man in the near future. You "core" D is pretty set to develop right now, if, down the line a couple of those D don't work out, he'll just draft another. At this point, I say just develop your D core of Hronek, McIssac, Cholowski and Seider. Again, the ONLY way I trade AA, or anyone from our core, is if they become super diva and cause a problem all the time when they're contract is up.

Because he knows it'll get a reaction from me and you and others. Which is fine. What I think is hilarious/stupid is setting the bar for success at, basically, Tyler Bertuzzi. All this complaining about how he's a total bust...and it's "Yeah, 20 goals, I guess. I'd like to see his +/- improve" that you're looking for? If you're gonna troll, go all in. Demand at least 30 (NHL) goals and serious Calder consideration.

This is why I hate the Zadina controversy. It's because it's a nontroversy. It always is. Like @Wheelchairsuperhero said, he's got a sore hamstring. And even if he didn't, we shouldn't be passing any -- any -- kind of judgment based on a 15 second clip from development camp. (Even me saying that makes it sounds like there's something worth being concerned about. There isn't.) Dude is young. Dude went pro early. Dude did well in his rookie pro season. Dude actually played very well at the WJC this season, but it didn't show on the score sheet. Dude played very well in his stint with the Wings, but it didn't show on the score sheet. Dude has a surprisingly strong two-way game, but we're going to ignore that because reasons. If that means "Jurco until proven otherwise," ok. But, as I've said before, I think that's silly. He could be a bust, but let's not pretend the body of work is pointing strongly in that direction.

Considering he's doing it with a minor hamstring injury, I wouldn't judge him at all by it. Again, pointless to bring this discussion back up, nobody's convincing anyone of anything. I'd just like to know what type of season he needs to have to quiet all the random, unsolicited "he's overrated" posts. On another note I must have missed that sequence by Seider, that's a nifty entry and pass. Pretty stoked about this guy.
