How could we manage without all of our leaders?

Just for the record: I have no problems with the Pickard signing. He's solid and had some good numbers in his early NHL career. Last year wasn't any good but, I mean, he was a goalie for the flyers and coyotes. Still somewhat young too.

In a few years Bobrovsky will start to decline and become 'average'. While still a good goalie this will make his contract look horrible. Also at this point in time Knight will emerge as one of the most dominant young goalies in the league. Vancouver fans will cry and beg for Knight to be the starter, but the young rook will humbly play a backup role with stellar numbers. After a few seasons of this the media and fans will go nuts demanding the Nucks find a way to trade Bobrovsky's contract. But it will be too difficult and instead they will trade Knight. After a few more seasons with Bob in net, they will realize, actually it's not that difficult, and trade him as well back to his original home in Philly. At this point the window to a win cup will be all but closed for the Barkov/Huberdeau twins. Like Luongos contract, the curse has seemingly no end in sight, and Florida will reap what they sowed. Sucks to suck

Calvin Pickard, baby!!! 27 years old, heading to his 6th NHL team (Colorado, Vegas, Toronto, Philadelphia, Arizona, Detroit), waived twice last year. League minimum for depth, and he'll most likely play in GR unless Howard or Bernier are hurt, although he's expected to be given a shot to compete with Bernier for the backup role. But why the two year deal? And as far as i can see, it's not two way. Wouldn't that mean he'd need to clear waivers each time if he needs to come up, or is he good to move up/down freely in emergency callups? Can't say a team wouldn't grab him either, he's always found a team each time he's hit waivers. Maybe Yzerman is hoping he can push Bernier out and then trade him for late picks and some retained salary? If he can pull it off, i'm all for it, but big if. HAHAHAHAHA

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Trouba does end up going to arbitration, isn't it a max of a one or two year contract? Trouba to Detroit 2020...

I hope it happens...Lou going in with no lube Thing is though...Would Marner even 'want' to play for the Isles? Wouldn't it be funny if he signs the offer sheet thinking his beloved Maple Leafs would match, and then they don't..... EDIT - looking at the NYI cap - it appears that they only have roughly $8.6 million to play with (from the looks of it there's no LTIR $$$ to be had as well)...Hardly enough to entice Marner away from T.O.

He hasn't played a single NHL game because he hasn't wanted to until now What @Dabura said. Gusev could be an elite winger in the NHL as soon as next year. If I can get that for a 3rd and 1 year of Clarksons contract, Done deal. Dastyuk wanted to finish his career with his hometown team. He said that years ago. He's doing that. E 2.0 will be nothing special, you're right. Sure seems like Kronwall will be retiring. LGW is lazy and it sucks Gusev

You realize we had over $20 million in cap space this year? The way things are looking we may be under the cap even without using any LTIR for Zetterberg and Franzen. We could have easily signed Panarin and still afforded big raises for AA, Mantha, and Bert. Could have afforded Panarin and Trouba in fact, without even dumping salary. Bad as they might be, those contracts are not hurting us.

    "The Russian 5" Documentary

Watched it (finally) last night. Really, really good. A lot of good insight into how tight that team was off the ice. Loved it when Mac explained the difference between a sucker punch and getting cold cocked. Hilarious. If I had one very minor "I would have liked more" from this, I would have liked to have more insight from Stevie on his perspective as the Captain and how he dealt with their style of play, speaking very little (if at all) English when they first arrived and how this effected how they communicated, how he dealt with the perception among the other teammates that "Russians were bad for NHL hockey", etc. However, top to bottom a outstanding film. Yes! I definitely got the impression that Kozlov had a major edge to him.

Could be. Personally, I'm starting to get the impression he's really not thrilled with our organizational depth chart. I think every time someone asks him how long the road ahead is and he says very long, he's being brutually honest.

One year max. Although there are some speculation that a deal is already agreed upon but NYR management asked Trouba’s camp to file for arbitration so that theey get a second buy out window.
