Mantha's new nickname is the mailman. He got his contract, now he just mails it in.

That's not fair. Primeau was a good fighter who was great on draws. He also played a tough game. Just had a poor attitude. Mantha is a big guy that plays like he's much smaller.

One wonders what Yzerman is thinking(and planning to do) when seeing Manthas performence. Considering how hard both Steve and Blashill preach work ethic and competitiveness as a key to avoid a "losing culture" to set in and to do this rebuild right. Right now, Mantha is looking like a loser out there. Flashes of brilliance and hot streaks will not make up for it.

Would he get us a much better player in a trade like Primeau did though? That Shanny trade was a steal.

We need Zadina and Fabbri back in the worst way. Brome should also get a look in the top 6. Dudes a puck hound.

Oh, and the "taxi squad" thing is dumb, but I guess the league has to meet protocols or shut er down. It just doesn't feel like real NHL hockey to me, i didn't even watch the playoffs. lol

Babcock made Weiss a bad choice, because he was in his doghouse all the time and signing ~30+ year old at best middle six players to four and five year contracts at $4+m, is not what a good GM does. Abby, Big E, Weiss, Nielsen, they where all bad signings and trying to extend the streak does not necessarily mean to keep mediocre players for good money. He could have easily "overpayed" a real good FA and signed two cheaper versions of our mediocre players and we might have been better of, but that´s speculation anyway. All I´m saying is, that if his job was to keep the streak alive, he failed because of the way he took to handle things. He kept players out of solidarity and paid them for former accomplishments not what they where actually worth instead of letting them walk. That had to do with KH´s approach and not with ownership.
