Tonight's Stream-Opposition GDT Official Game Preview Pretty SICK video from LGW user Tim D. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_7wLBY0buM&feature=player_embedded#! Last DET-PIT Matchup Next Game vs.

When bobby orr's career ended early, the NHL found a way to survive. I think we will be a okay. The only money the NHL is band wagon Pitt fans, and the money to reprint all the ad's with Crosby already all over them... Does it suck to to lose a star player, yes. Will it hurt the NHL greatly, NO.

What, you think Babcock's hair takes care of itself? He needs time to make it look all perfect like that.

He runs around stirring up s*** after a very serious injury. Plays like he's untouchable. Then is surprised when he gets is dished back. Great player. Seriously immature. Butt-punchin cowgirl. Sit down sissy-boy. And eat some s***.

    Mike Commodore

I feel bad for Commodore. He's never really had a chance due to his preseason injury coupled with never playing more than the odd game so far. Unless there's an injury on defence it doesn't seem like he's gonna play. What's the plan then? Waive him? Minors? Conditioning stint? Personally, I'd like to throw the idea out of rotating him in as a 4th line forward every now and then. Get him to use his size, bang some bodies and crash the net. It might not be ideal, but it'll at least help get him into game shape so he's able to play some games on D if needed. Rotating him with Miller/Emmerton/Connor until Mursak returns would be a possible solution. Just think it's a shame seeing him as a healthy scratch every game without getting a proper chance. I think if he was waived someone would claim him. Detroit wasn't the only offer he had in the offseason. Just seems a waste.

Hmmmm so very wrong, where to start? If Kindl has been 'just OK', do you really think Commodore would've sat for 12 straight games? Yeah, don't think so. And those numbers are more than decent for a 6th defenceman who doesn't get PP time. More points than Stuart, and Ericsson.

Yeah right, because Kindl’s really sucking right now with his 7 points and +5 rating.

    Loyalty Question

I was a minor league season ticket holder for 6 seasons and I owned over 20 team jerseys, none of which were for the team I was supporting. This didn't mean I didn't like my team (Muskegon Fury), I loved them, but I really liked the look of the league's other/defunct teams jerseys (Adirondack Icehawks, Knoxville Speed, Thunder Bay Thunder Cats, Utica Blizzard, Binghampton Icemen, Madison Monsters, etc...) HOWEVER... when it comes to NHL teams, I'm a hockey player and well rounded in who's who on the other teams around the league. But I would NEVER, EVER wear any other colors than the Detroit Red Wings and and their farm club. My favorite jersey is still my game-worn Griffins #5 Kronwall jersey. Between Griffins and Red Wings jerseys, that's where I draw the line. You can't say I'm ignorant or a homer, because I live and breathe hockey and have very good knowledge of all other teams in the league, but you can't pay me to put a Chicago jersey, or Philly, San Jose, Pittsburgh, New Jersey, etc... It's the Red Wings, it has been since I've been since about 5 years old. Same goes for the Lions, Pistons and Tigers. I guess what I'm saying is, when it comes to pro teams in my state, I embrace them and NO other team. Those others teams can piss off. Minor league hockey is, in my opinion an exception because, well, it's minor league. But it's Red Wings (Griffins) or nothing as far as apparel at the NHL, hands down.

Finishing out the month with 10 games in 18 days, with 7 of them on the road could have something to do with it.

Can they just assign a guy for a conditioning stint? A guy like Commie could use that right now, hes played like 3 games all year and say whatever you want, he should get ina few games just to stay a bit in game shape. Than when theres an injury, everyone here who said he shouldnt play will be like "OMG why did we sign this bum blah blah blah" while hes clearly not in shape haha I can see it now. I agree Kindl has ben playing well, but on second night of back to backs every now and again does it really hurt to scratch a guy for one game who only plays even strength? If that damages his confidence, he shouldnt be an NHLer

The last two goalies the Wings had play in the ASG, were Ozzie in 2008 and Hasek in 2002. Both of those seasons we had enforcers. Also, those were our last two Cup runs. You were trolling, but your post was actually right.

    Crosby has "concussion symptoms"

Seriously, I know he is a good player, but the efforts to make him the best and the face of the NHL has made me dislike the kid. There are other young players who work hard and are great fun to watch - we have a few - who will not get the media hype, but who are still also good for the game. Hard work and heart - to me, that's what the game is all about. I hate for any player to go out like this, but his time might be over. Seems that he has a hard time coming back from the injury, much as he might want to. I think we may have seen the last of him at least for the regular season.

I bet the Dodge Ram would sell better if we had an enforcer Ok, I'm done now... this asinine thought has just popped up here a lot again and it's been about this relevant in most of the threads lately...

What I want to know is why Ericsson and Conklin have a day off?
  17. 2 points
I don't coach an NHL team, I wouldn't know the first thing to do if presented with the option of doing it, so I'm not going to second-guess someone who gets paid to do this for a living, and has done so for many, many years. We've scored 12 goals the last two games, and given up only 2. I don't think we're going to lose 13-0 tomorrow because we didn't practice today.

    Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Loyalty Question

Fellow LGW brethren, I am in need of some honest opinions here. Although I am a huge Detroit Red Wings fan, I do not limit myself to watching only Wings games. I've got Center Ice, so I follow everything that's going on around the league, and although I enjoy Detroit games the most, I consider myself a fan of the NHL in general, as well. My question is this: Am I betraying our beloved Detroit Red Wings by purchasing merchandise of another team, or am I just being a "well-rounded" hockey fan? Do any of you guys/gals have merchandise (Jerseys, etc.) Of other teams? Thanks in advance for your advice. Sincerely, Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Crosby has "concussion symptoms"

Maybe he shouldn't have been bitching about calls all the time, then I'd feel for him.
  22. 1 point
I could careless, yes he is a good player, but as a whole I don't buy the he is good for the game thing. Every player in the NHL is good for the game. On the end I'll take losing one of our many stars to not have him as a player being shoved down my throat... Yes it is sad to see but thats what I call Matt Cooke Karma. There weren't a milliOn press conferences for Savard. Yet for done reason he gets treated like a long. When he is blowing every NHL'er out of the water with points. Then I'll consider him the hands down best player. Until then he is just a star player like the Sedins, datsyuk, Malkin, Giroux, Ovie, and a bunch more.

I never thought I say such a thing, but I want him to get better. I don't like the douchef*** one bit, but him not playing is a loss for the entire NHL. He's good for the game.

Hahaha, this is awesome. Red Wings fans are so dedicated to winning (just like the team itself) that they want to play the strategic move and pull their players from the ASG to rest. I love this place.

For people saying, he's better resting, you're really crazy. It's the all star game, it's nothing that drains energy. It's probably quite nice for them having tons of fans go wild over all of them and get to take place in some neat events, especially for guys like Howard where it would be his first time. He'd probably love it and I don't think one period of play will really be too draining, now would it?. For Lidstrom, I can get if he'd wanna relax, since he's done it so many times, the specialness of it has most likely worn off some, but it'd be great for Howie, especially as a write in, do you know how great that would feel if he knew his fans backed him that strongly?
