If I hear another moron say that the NHL put the Leafs in this game to make sure they fill they stadium I'm gonna flip. If Michiganders can fill the stadium for a college hockey game, no one gives a damn who the Wings are playing, just the fact that the Wings are there will make it full.

Since late January the wings have actually doubled their fighting majors from October to January. Theyve had like 5 fights in their last 5 games or something like that. As well, Ericcson wanted Eager bad tonight but Eager had nothing to do with it. I have to think Babcock said something to them about sticking up for each other and toughening up down the stretch to get ready for playoffs. Commie cementing himself as what looks to be the more regular 6th defenseman has helped as well. Just seems like whenever the wings look flat and a fight starts, the wings get their legs under them. Abdelkader sparked them tonight and they didnt look back after. If they have eachothers backs like this all the time I would be very happy. Keep it up

Put the bong down kid. you dont think ilitch cares about detroit? please. having 115,000 at this game will be better for the atmospheres as opposed to the 30k at comerica, half of those wont be able to see s***. you have any clue how many teams dont play in the city where their name is? Pistons and Lions (silverdome), coyotes play in glendale, not phoenix. the list goes on. and ill bet the house youll be watching on jan 1st.

Here's an interesting stat. This year the Wings are 9-1-1 in games where there is a fighting major. I wonder if it fires the boys up when one of their teamates drops the mitts regardless of they win or lose.

5th in TOI for forwards with over 16 minutes a game. Plays on the PK and the PP and isn't afraid to go anywhere on the ice. 6th on the team with 11 goals. 8th on the team with 27 points and is a +12. He was on pace for about his usual 40 points. People may be unhappy with his play, but anytime you lose a guy who plays 16 minutes a night in all situations and get you 40 points, it's a significant loss. Hopefully he gets the knee drained and comes back healthy.

I'm glad we didn't trade for Burns because of what it cost and we got White but White replaced a player of similar ability. Burns, a top league defenseman, was added for one roster player for this year, a 2nd line forward...major upgrade. San Jose needs to do that trade more than us because third time is going to end soon. But the lesson remains the same, for this season, San Jose made a major addition and we may have stayed the same. And they beat us the last two years, stands to reason they have an even better chance to do the same this play-off. My whole point in my posts in this thread is that this is the same team that's played with little passion the last two years with consistent effort being shown by only a few and I don't really see how we're going to beat teams with more depth that seem to play like they really couldn't live with losing. Against SJ last year, we played like it wouldn't be a big deal if we lost the series. Thus, like this thread is all about, I think we need to make some deals.

What about all the Detroit fans that don't live in Metro Detroit? Like many of our members here. The tourist perspective would be all the business that is generated in Detroit as a result of everyone coming over for the events. This will benefit the City of Detroit. Doesn't sound like it since the NHL is handling ticket sales.

This team isnt built to win the Cup and I hope they recognise that and don't dole out some lame excuse this year for not making the move to put us in a prime position. If I'm Lidstrom I'm going to be offended if Holland doenst try to go for it. Not to mention, I've never seen our farm system so chock full of talent, we could truly make a big deal without gutting the future. I think we need to go after a 2nd line forward. Someone who will replace and be an upgrade over the Todd. Ruutu is a good target other than his injury history and the current status of his price tag. The real dilemma is Lidstroms status tho. If were going to send some prospects packaging, it should probably be for a defender. Our unwillingness to pay market price in free agency means we'll probably go the trade route for a good player and that's where we should spend our assets. I believe in Holland's ability to fill our forward spot without spending too much tho, so we'll see.

I don't hate Crosby like many on here seem to (Its a game... and he's possibly the best at it right now, why hate) but beating the Penguins 2 outta 3 would be a great feeling! Something about beating the Leafs would feel special too.

The Wings didn't own that series. they started strong and ran out of gas, and hence lost the series. They weren't cheated, they just lost in heartbreaking fashion. Sorry guys, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with stinky fish... As infuriating as it would be at the time, the Pens would be a great rematch. Giving the Wings to chance to break the tie.
