My belief is there never is justification for a lockout or running out of time with negotiations. How long have they known about the CBA expiration? Oh, yeah, since the last one was signed. Waiting to the last minute is ridiculous.

Did you guys hear? NHL13 is coming out with a new, "Be the commissioner," mode! Yeah all you do is smash the disk, and no one gets to play.

The NHL will not be getting another cent from me. No games, merchandise, or dollar hotdogs until I see these millionaires and billionaires negotiating in good faith and attempting to save a season instead of holding it hostage. We should start a fan association, NSFA - national sports fan association?

I think Bettman loses his job when this is all said and done. Seriously, how can he show his face in public ever again without the threat of seriously getting hurt? There's no way he can present the Cup without being completely pelted with food, beer, and garbage, and fans trying to take swings when he walks out. Probably the worst thing to happen to the owners was they put this system together back in 2005, and now they're crying poor. Why are the players locked out because the owners don't know how to run their sport? Fans and media support the players this time, the longer this thing goes, the more pressure it puts on Bettman and the owners. If anyone caves, it's the owners. Clearly the problem is the lack of proper revenue sharing, the Floor is bankrupting teams, and there's to many teams in horrible markets. Fehr and the players know this and they aren't giving and inch, and I don't think they have to. The players don't have to do anything until the owners address these 3 issues.

Any NHL'ers from your home town?

Currently playing? None. The only person I've been able to find from San Diego is Craig Coxe, who retired in 1992. Of course, my favorite person to claim is Chris Chelios, who went to high school here. Yeah yeah, I know he's firmly rooted in everyone's mind as a Chicagoan, but cut me some slack, we don't get a lot of hockey glory out here.

I like the idea of Filppula playing over in Finland for Jokerit... That means he will be playing with Pulu... great chance for Pulu to learn how to be an NHL'er and train with one... I think that could be a very good thing for him

Blocked nhl.com and all of its affiliates with my firewall, sick of reading the PR crap and not giving those greedy owners any hits as long as the midget will be hired instead of fired. His success are failed expansions, failed CBA negotiations in 3 of 3 tries wow what a great track record.

I don't even need to think who I am siding with, it is so easy a monkey could make that decision. The players are the ones I am cheering for, the players are giving their heart & soul every minute for our Entertainment they want a fair deal, the midget and those greedy billionaires want a screw you deal. If I am fair the first thing I'd make clear is to can the so called commissioner otherwhise there won't any negotiations for the time being. Record revenues since 7 freaking years and yet here we go with a lockout again and the same bs in 7 years again, rince repat owners and midget can go jump of a bridge couldn't care less greedy a....h...s

"the National Hockey League has been, and remains, committed to negotiating around the clock to reach a new CBA" BULLS***. If they were comitted to negotiating around the clock, then they would be, you know, NEGOTIATING AROUND THE CLOCK. There was absolutely NO urgency to any of the talks, or they would have been burning the midnight oil for months to avoid the current situation, not throwing around the word LOCKOUT with a month to go in negotiations. Good faith my lily white ass. Excuse me while I go rage some more...

Hehe, thanks! Had that and my signature ready for weeks. I think they're awesome too, but damn I was hoping I'd never actually have to use them. They're staying up for the duration of the lockout. Which better not be long, because (as some members no doubt have discovered) I change avys and sigs more than some people change socks.

Sad that its come to this, yet again. Third lockout in as many tries for Bettman. 3/3 on league time lost due to labor disputes. Anyone still think this buffoon still needs to keep his job? Apparently a majority of the BoG does, which is sad...

I think I'm done with the NHL. I love the Wings, but I am completely disgusted that we are having bak-to-back lockouts. Fans are clearly not as important as greed. So much is wrong with hockey today, it's just not worth the trouble anymore.....this coming from a fan of over 40 years.

Some more meaningless words from the NHL: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=641584&cmpid=fb Nothing much I hate more in sports than the legal drafted bulls*** PR statement by the arrogant, greed filled people who think we as fans are simpletons waiting to lap up anything and everything they say with open wallets to throw money at them afterwards. AHL for me.

All hail the hardworking, great hockeymind, always fair and never at fault midget and his stupid wellfare teams. Blame als has to go to all the greedy bastard owners who just can't found a way to screw all the momentum the NHL had. Superb job really worth wasting 8.000.000 for midgetlike hat-trick. Record revenues, recod attendances and growth over the last 7 years hey lets lockout the player again, so we can keep all these failed franchises and piss poor playing owners alive right? Screw you NHL; I am happily watching the SEL, AHL and NLA hope the players wait this out as long as it takes otherwhise the damn midget will lock them out everytime they aren't accepting such insulting proposals. God I still can't believe it, stubborn owners keeping this damn commissioner employed. Sure Ecclestone and Blatter are worse than the mafia but midget is easily top 5 in terms of worst sports commissioners ever. May he be attacked by a furious octopus.

Wow. I honestly had not even thought of the charities. The players and the league both contribute quite a bit both individually and as a group. Maybe this would be the solution: Instead of arguing 57/43 vs 50/50 or other numbers, maybe we should be going x/x/10 with the 10 going to charity. Both sides might be willing to give a little if they knew that the money wasn't going to the other side, but to a charity. It wouldn't solve the other points, but it would be a starting point. I still think that the league wants to lock out this season so the players will be more willing to give up Sochi next year just to have a season to play.
