It'll probably be something boring like Brunsy. But, if I had a vote, it'd be for Toblerone. And when he snipes one, Ken and Mick can say, "Toblerone's shot is as sweet as chocolate." I'll show myself out. -

HE IS OWED 22.5 MILLION DOLLARS AFTER THIS SEASON. Can we all agree to stop talking about the Red Wings buying him out? It's borderline absurd. -

Actually, you would be hard pressed to find someone who thinks Franzen and Fedorov should even be mentioned in the same sentence. Franzen could not and will never be good enough to even sniff Sergei's sock hat...One can argue that if Fedorov is not on our team for those 10 years, we may still be in a Stanley Cup drought, that same can NEVER EVER be said about twinkle toes Franzine... Franzen should be traded. And speaking of comparng him with Hossa, sure Hossa may get pushed around easily, but Franzen is like a bowl a jelly as well and when the going gets tough he turtles. Oh sure, he can pick on a teenager and throw his mouthgaurd out, but when someone challenges him, he is no more tough than Hossa...they are both soft. Hossa is better than Franzen...period. Franzen will never be Fedorov. -
1 pointI likely won't be seeing any games this year. First off, I'm not so eager to give these guys my hard earned money at the moment. Especially since seats are so expensive. Plus, my fiancé is a Stars fan, so if I go then she goes, which means double the cost of going, as well as finding a babysitter for our 14 month old. So, for this season at least, I'll be stuck watching games on the TV, if I even do that.

All snotty sarcasm aside, I think people are often too sensitive about some imagined anti-Wings bias. However, Enzo is an exception. With Olczyk it sounds like they picked a fan from the stands as he goes on about the Wings "subtle interference" and pointing out what should've been penalties called against them. It's one thing to do that when you're the color guy for the Hawks or Pens, but his lack of professionalism on NBC is embarrassing. And the difference between him and Ken and Mickey is they're doing a local fox sports broadcast. Several of the guys who do the national games have some ties to other teams but manage to set that aside and be relatively objective on NBC. Olczyk is awful. -

It would be absurd even if we didn't owe him 22 million dollars. His production for his price is a steal. -
1 pointYeah that's not too bad, but regardless of what his nickname is I'll be screaming "You've been...Brunder Struck!" in my best AC/DC voice every time he nets one.

Datsyuk had 35 pts. on the 3rd line. He did not step into a top six spot his rookie season. I can't speak for Axe, but for me it's not about a lack of faith, everyone knows the kid is skilled. It's about taking off the rose colored glasses and realizing that Nyquist isn't ready to be a top six forward in the NHL. If we had a spot on the third line I'd be all for it. But I'm not ready to grant the kid a top six spot when he put up fewer points than a rookie defenseman (Smith) who played fewer games and was largely on the third defensive pairing. All the skill in the world doesn't necessarily translate to success at the NHL level, as I'm sure Linus Omark could tell you. I know this is hard to hear for most, but Gustav Nyquist at this point in his career is not a better option than Samuelsson, Cleary, or Bertuzzi for a spot in the top six. s***, Filppula didn't earn his spot in the top six until last season and he is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than Nyquist is at this point. -
1 pointAt least 666 is out of the question. But if he goes with 63 (or 36) I'm checking his mother's grave for jackal remains.

Dear Red Wings Fans, In our now 30 years of owning the Red Wings franchise, we have experienced many ups and downs. No situation is more frustrating, though, than working through the process of establishing a new collective bargaining agreement. We join the rest of our organization today in thanking fans of Hockeytown for your patience over the last few months. We are sorry for the delay in starting the season and the unfortunate public nature of the negotiations. Thankfully, with this new deal, we will be assured of a settled labor environment for many years to come. We recognize that no team excels like this one has without incredible fan support. And we understand the special bond that has been formed over the years: we do not take lightly our responsibility as owners. Thank you for being a part of our team. We look forward to delivering another memorable season of Red Wings hockey. Sincerely, Marian & Mike Ilitch -
