What forward is the Red Wings X Factor?
BottleOfSmoke and one other reacted to Motown4013 for a post in a topic
I really like this post....so many factors to consider! I actually think it's Gus and here is my rationale. We know the stellar career Alfie has had and we know what he brings. Weiss was a guy I have wanted since day one and he adds a depth that I love. Hank is a rockstar and Pavel the same. Franzen....well....he is like an unstable relationship that you constantly think about ending because when it's good, it's awesome and when it's bad...it's Sh#t. Gus....all the tools are there. He has good vision, soft hands and he works his Nyqvist off! The guy in my opinion could be the difference on this team, the X factor for the Wings. Put all of talent together with a healthy dose of self confidence and he can EASILY score 20+ goals. The flip side is that if he isn't prepared or gets skittish or overwhlemee by the pace of the game, it really changes the dynamics of the 3rd line! I hope he is awesome like the player I think he can be and I hope he is the X factor for this team! -

1 pointI'd expect him to have some pain at this point. He seems to be on the grin-and-bear-it treatment track, i.e. accepting that you may very well be in physical pain for the rest of your life, etc.

Breaking Bad
MabusIncarnate reacted to St. Michael (the Red Wing) for a post in a topic
Never really thought of that. Interesting. Is it too cliche to say Walt goes out form dying from cancer? Seems too easy but Mr. Vince G keeps the audience guessing always. I just want to know what that machine gun in Walt's trunk is for? And who if who Walt goes "SCARFACE" style on for LOL. Greatest TV show ever. I've heard talks of "Saul" having a spin off show is there in any truth in that? -

I feel the same way, but if the series ends in a certain way... it might quietly be one of the more necessary episodes that gave a big hint towards the finale that a lot of people missed. ***Potential Spoiler Alert*** In that episode Jesse begins talking about his Aunt who had cancer, and how that possum continued to get under the house. He said she could hear it and would bang on the floor to try and chase it away. They eventually came out and exterminated the possum but as the cancer began to spread to her brain she continued hearing it, started obsessing over it and swearing it was still there, that she still heard it, until she inevitably died. In this episode Walt is obsessing over the fly, the entire episode is dedicated to him attempting to exterminate it. As it drags on, finally Jesse swats it and kills it in the dramatic slow-mo fly death scene. The fly is eradicated. At the very end of the episode, Walt is laying in bed staring at the smoke detector, watching the light flash red. He then suddenly sees the fly in the flash and the episode ends. Was this an early indicator that the cancer had been returning and begun spreading to his brain causing him to see what wasn't there and he had been obsessing with? The events of the episode tied in very closely to Jesse's story about his Aunt and what happened to her as the cancer took over. It's been a theory of mine since that episode, and considering the events of this season, the show ending with the cancer getting the best of Walt is a definite possibility. -

Rabid Dog was great as was Confessions. Honestly the only episode I don't like in the entire series is in season 4 I believe "the Fly" episode. -

Franzen: "I am not a goal scorer"
haroldsnepsts reacted to GoWings1905 for a post in a topic
I have more of a problem where Franzen typically plays on the ice. Cleary did a ton of dirty work in front of the net, which Franzen could do more of with his size. Franzen has ridiculous hands and probably the best wrist shot on the team, but yet he rarely seems to put himself near the slot where he could utilize that strength. The Wings got slightly better as the season progressed, but they still have a knack for generating too much of their offense from the perimeter. That's why I don't have as much of a gripe with Cleary and Abby. At least they were consistently willing to try and score dirty goals. -

So what you're saying is that Franzen is the "yeah, I know, but he's really good in bed" of the Wings? I really want Goose to turn into a superstar. I think I'm setting the bar a bit high lol. ETA: I voted for Weiss, for the reasons already stated. *fingers crossed* -

Thank you. Cleary loves to shoot and has confidence. He just has no talent. Give him Franzen's skills and we have a great player. -
1 point- The suck is strong with this one, yes. - The triangular v-neck collar dealy screams NFL to me, I don't know why. - Saddest thing about this? It'll be the highlight of the Sabres' season.

1 pointi realize that fans hate bettman and he isnt as bad as we try to make him sound. i also get that his salary is not exorbitant compared to other sport commishes and other executives in charge or similarly sized entities, but i do keep falling back on something... one of the main talking points of this last lockout was that a vast majority of teams are losing money each year. so is bettman really doing that good of a job as commissioner if most of the teams actually are losing money each year? sure, i get revenues are up. but revenues are up for all sports. so i kind of wonder if bettman really is doing that great even from the business side. cause we all know how terrible he is doing from the pr side...

Bettman getting a raise (again) 8 - 8,3 million in 2012 - 2013
Z Winged Dangler reacted to frankgrimes for a post in a topic
Who cares about Stern (NBA), Selig (MLB) or Goddell (NFL) this thread is about hockey and when it comes to hockey he is overpaid. 3 lockouts are unexcuseable, making more than the product people actually want to watch is just pure nuts. There is also a reason, why commissioners are getting boo'ed so much they are bad for the sport and leagues would be better off without them. Guess what a hockeyguy would cost less, not trash the sport with his growing the game crap AND actually be welcomed when he presents the Stanley Cup. Can't believe people are still defending the guy, who has cost us one year of Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Yzerman and a prime Lidström. -

Exactly. David Stern (NBA) made $20m last season, and Budd Selig (MLB) earned only marginally less than that. Roger Goodell (NFL) took home upward of $11m. -
1 pointMuch as I begrudge him every penny, Bettman is a rank amateur when it comes to lining his pockets with his sports money. Sepp Blatter and Bernie Ecclestone wouldn't bother getting out of bed for $8.3M

Man it's just phenomenal from the point where you are going forward, prepare to become addicted. I'm going to try to limit spoilers because I know some are in the process of catching up, but last nights episode opened up a few new options to how this is all going to close out... i'm excited.
