So an undersized defenseman with a good shot and offensive instincts, very little physical game to speak of, mediocre stats everywhere he's played besides this year, and is decent defensively is worth 7 million a year and 4 first round picks to you? You've got to be kidding. Am I saying he won't be good, no, because I think he will be a good offensive defenseman. Am I saying a guy with his game benefited from being on big bad bruins? Absolutely. Protection from a hard forecheck helps any defenseman and not being roughed up all the time does too, especially the small ones. He may be good, he'll never be an elite defenseman in my mind because elite defenseman play like elite players at both ends of the ice. Lidstrom, Suter, Weber, those guys are elite defenseman. And there's only one I'd give up 4 first round picks and 7 million a year to have.

Offer Krug $7 mil. Unless you mean over 3 years and not per season, that is the single dumbest idea in the history of hockey. Boyle is old and slipping. Gaborik is injury prone and one dimensional. Marchenko and Jurco would both be better ideas. Hossa would cost a top prospect and is signed too long.

Really hoping the Rangers win. If the final is MTL vs CHI I'll throw up... then root as if I were born in Quebec for the Habs.

While I would think that hilarious to see Shero and Bylsma out the door, I'm secretly wishing they stay. It's become blatantly obvious that they won't win with those two at the helm, so why shouldn't we hope they keep their jobs?

According to reports Milan Lucic of the Boston Bruins allegedly called Dale Weise a "baby" after their playoffs series concluded tonight; this coming after Lucic allegely called Montreal defenseman Alexei Emelin a "chicken" after a regular season altercation. In response to these reports Lucic issued the following statement: "I'm rubber and you're glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you". What an intellectual cripple.

Any time I think of Hampus Melen I think of Hampus Lindholm and then I think of Elias Lindholm and then I think of Elias Lindholm's late cousin Calle Jarnkrok (RIP) and then I think of David Legwand and then I think of Stephen Weiss and it's at this point that I get mad at Valtteri Filppula because he doesn't remind me of anyone even though he was our second-line center for, like, 20 years though he does look kinda like Lauren Bush who I think has great legs and what were we talking about again oh yeah Hampus Lindholm. I hate articles like this. They're increasingly common. Regner is clearly reaching for conclusions. Nothing here indicates next year will be his last. What Babcock has stated in other interviews as well is that he can get a job anywhere, so he's not concerned with getting some long term big-money deal. Only people who worry about the future of their careers do that. He just wants to take it year by year. That means he could be here another 10, or he could be gone next year. Either way, nothing here supports Babcock's leaning one way or the other. But hey, page hits, I guess. I wrote this in another thread, but the whole coach getting stale thing doesn't really apply to Babcock anymore. There's such a huge turnover in players that next year's team and the one after that will be almost entirely different than the ones during most of his tenure. So it's like getting a fresh start. Plus, Babcock loves coaching young guys and building their game. He can do that in Detroit just as easily as anywhere else. At least here he has competent management to work with.
