    2014 Memorial Cup

Mantha scores the first goal, then rings one off the post. Wow, this kid is incredible. Edit: Mantha with Datsyuk anyone?

As cool as another Original Six final would be, I don't want Chicago getting in again. They're already becoming what the Wings used to be. I don't want them to start having more Cups or finals appearances.

Hilarious watching guys like Vanek and Gaborik show up hard for the playoffs and be difference makers while we paid loads more for a guy who became a 4th line winger. And yet Shero is the one who gets fired.

Go Rangers! I never want to see the Habs win another Cup....ever!

Val D'or's goalie (Bibaud -- a Leafs sixth-rounder) was unconsciously good. Mantha was the best skater on the ice -- a superb goal, a rocket off the post and he got stoned by the goalie in tight on a partial breakaway.

Holland doesn't sign guys like that for more than 2 years at most. Every team signs these types of players. Go to any fan forum and all the fans do is ***** about how they signed this vet or that vet that's washed up. You need vets to be successful, you can't win with just youth. Look at Edmonton

Mantha is a beast and it makes me so excited seeing a guy like this in the pipeline, I could almost pee my pants

    Shero & Bylsma Fired

Some forget that this was where we once were. Back in the early 90's we were one of the best regular season teams year after year. Yet we couldn't win the Cup. In comes Bowman, still didn't win it. Made a few moves, then we won. it took the correct balance of players, coaches, and management to win. Winning a cup is not something that is easy to do. But it is easier to fire a GM and coach than it is to fire 23 players.......

Been watching the 2nd period so far. Mantha reminds me of Jeff Carter.

    2014 Memorial Cup

To make this tournament work financially, tickets have to be sold far in advance. Only way you can guarantee that is to give the home team automatic entry. Fortunately, host clubs have historically loaded up and been strong contenders -- and in some cases earned their way in by winning the league championship. London lost out a month ago, but to Guelph. London was arguably the second-best team in the O all season so they're not likely to fall flat on their faces even though they "backed in."

I hope the Griffins are still playing when Mantha is done. I want him to be the real deal and not play in the minors next year, but it'd be nice to see him tear up the AHL for a week or two just to reassure us.

    2014 Memorial Cup

Mantha also scored five goals in six games at world juniors, so he has 86 goals in 87 games so far. Hopefully he puts up at least one more goal than games played in the tournament. Ninety-two total goals for the year would be a nice, Gretzky-esque stat.

Um 7 mill over 3 years is 2,333 each something I'd easily pay for him

This one of those series where I'm really not pulling for either team to win or lose, so you can just sit back and enjoy hockey without the stress of rooting for your team to win.

I'm really happy to see this match up. Not that I am a fan of either team, but because it means that the Bruins and Pens both got knocked out.

    Should we pursue Iggy?

The only thing he deserves is good crosscheck in ribs.

    Should we pursue Iggy?

Only if it's officially his final season. Then we could be the ones to officially deny him the Cup, forevz.

A cap/salary question for you all.

Wow. In a few weeks Mantha has gone from, "maybe he'll have a chance to make the team next year", to the next Ovechkin. At this rate he'll be in the Hall of Fame by June.

Hamilton AND two Toronto teams? I'm not so sure about that...

I'll say the Kings pull off another upset and take down the Ducks in 7. Anaheim has goaltending issues and it seems as though Quick is back in his groove after a rough first two games of the playoffs.

    Anthony Mantha

Fun fact! Jonathan Drouin who was selected 3rd overall last year had 105 points in 49 games last season. Anthony Mantha has played 49 games so far this season and has how many points??....ding ding ding 105 points! This guy is going to go down as a steal at the 20th overall selection.
