DD starting to get the love....

I personally have not joined richdg's bandwagon and think Quincey is bolstering DK. He'll be out of the NHL in a year so we should trade him now with the hype.

I get the pairings thing, but if we need a real impact player, won't he just play with Smith too? Mike needs to get over Kronwall-Ericsson, that big dope has cost us a lot of points this year, not just tonight. He's best served as a 4/5. I honestly don't think Holland will make a move, but Petry would be a good fit. I realize being the best of a bad bunch isn't the most glowing endorsement, but I see the guy a lot being out west and he's under appreciated to say the least. MacTavish is a guy who thinks Justin Schultz could win a Norris afterall We're probably arguing over nothing though, because the pairs going into the playoffs are probably going to be the same as tonight give or take an Xavier Oullet sighting.

I just want to say I don't care if it's another loss against a top team. That was a close ******* game. I'm still happy with this team. Howard, in just his second game back from injury, held a top team to no goals for over 57 minutes. This was a close game that could've easily gone either way. I'm not worried about this team and am still thoroughly excited about this team's chances in the playoffs.

Ericsson wanders, Nyquist over pursues, Datsyuk slips, and Howard over plays to one side and it's another loss to Montreal. Brutal, I ******* hate the Habs and all their goddamn divers. It's only getting harder from here, gonna have to dig their way out.

    Next Number to be retired

Get off your pony. I didn't say he sucked. I just don't think his number belongs up there with the other players the Wings have in the rafters. Most posters here and most knowledgeable hockey people would agree with me that Osgood isn't a Sawchuk or a Lindsey or a Lidstrom. I also don't seem him being in the HHOF. Osgood is a very good goalie that will never be considered an elite goalie. He was never one of the two or three best goalies in the league. He never won the Vezina. Hell, I think he was only top 3 in Vezina voting once in his career. He is above most of his peers, but below the top echelon of his peers like Hasek, Roy, Brodeur and Belfour. Some would rank him below Cujo as well, despite the latter's lack of team accomplishments. His numbers are impressive and reflect a great career, but much in the same way that Dave Andreychuk's numbers or Dino Ciccarelli's numbers reflect a great career. Yet, those guys are unable to crack the HHOF or be considered among the greatest forwards in league history. It's not just about numbers. But hey, those are all dumb arguments, because kipwinger doesn't like them. Let's retire Ozzie number and proclaim him a top 10 all time goalie.

Interesting stat posted during the Wings game - Pulkkinen is the first Griffin to have back to back 30 goal seasons.

Turtleneck's goal came when Detroit should have been on the PP for the Abdelkader takedown.

http://m.espn.go.com/nhl/story?storyId=3420092&src=desktop Well the man was shot and almost killed in Detroit. How this isn't seen as a conflict of interest is beyond me.

Great goalie, but his diving and cheapness gets old quickly.

    Are the Wings a Contender?

Unless the wheels completely fall off, were making the playoffs. Plus, as of now we'd be playing Tampa, not Pittsburgh.

You wouldn't draft anyone under 190 lbs? I'll stop and let you reevaluate that for a second

I think their knowledgable fans really deserve better, the obvious "I jump on the players bandwagon when he's good but will give him hell if he makes a mistake" bandwagoners don't. Franson just talked about the whole pressure there, I mean having 30 guys in the room even after practice ? That's insane like freaking insane. Also I'm not sure what Shanahan is doing there, they've acquired another cocky heavily undersized kid ind Leipsic...are they trying to become the smurfs ? Instead of such a hard hitting fun to watch in your face team, which made the playoffs and almost beat Boston with that type of game ?Personally I wouldn't trade for or draft anybody under at least ~ 190 lbs.

I think he has emotional issues. Wasn't it mentioned a few years ago that he was struggling with depression? I've had a job that required a lot of travel and I struggled with those issues too. Give the guy some slack. Fedorov had personal issues too. I remember Bowman snatching a heckler's sign that criticized Fedorov's contract dispute during one of the '90's playoff runs. He didn't want him to lose his confidence. Think of your own performance at work. Do you always perform at the highest level? Especially when you are down about something? No one has any evidence to suspect him of malfeasance.
