Here is my take, I believe Howard is one of the most underrated goalies in the league. Before his injury, the guy was in the conversation when it came to the Vezina. With that being said, since he came back from injury something is not right. He isnt the same Howard he was before the injury. Just look at his stats: Oct.......5-1-2.....1.97.......92.9 Nov.......6-3-2.....2.26.......91.1 Dec.......4-2-3.....1.98......92.6 Jan........1-1-0.....2.50......89.6 Feb........2-1-2....2.81......90.2 Mar........3-4-1.....3.38......88.7 He got injured in January, since then his GAA went from 2.08 to close to 3. With Jimmy playing the way he is playing, we have to give the job to Mrazek for the moment, but dont count Jimmy out. The guy is good, and as soon as Mrazek has a bad stretch, the same people that turn on Jimmy will turn on him. It has happened to pretty much every Wings goalie since the Dead Wings era.

I hope some of you jokers are eating your words now. Look I love the Red Wings, but it's posts like this that make me hate some of our fans. You know, the whole "hey let's purposely lose the whole season, so maybe land the next Crosby or Teows", as if those come around every year. I'm sick of some of you spoiled brats so ungrateful for all of the success this team has enjoyed over the last 25 years. If it bothers you that much that we're not the team everyone is talking about every year then please, just go root for the Blackhawks already. Tanking just seems like something losers, quitters, and crybabies do. The Wings are a class organization, and don't need to be rebuilt. The Red Wings have been rebuilding for the last few years, and making the playoffs while doing it!! Toronto fans would kill to have their team be in our team's situation right now. What? Is that not enough? Spoiled brats I tell ya.

Agreed Frank, he also isn't paid the money of the said elite goaltenders. Jimmy is an well above average (there, I said it) starter. But he is going through a tough stretch so putting Mrazek in net is the right call at the moment. Of course I would feel more confident with 1st-half- of-the-season Howard, but I'm pretty confident in Mrazek, too. We are not in an all or nothing year like the Rangers, so letting Mrazek play and let him gain experience isn't the worst that ever happened to this teams goaltending.

So apparently to post a valid opinion on a message board we need to provide a CV that includes playing time beyond the junior level. The Wings have like nine shootout losses too. Even four more wins and they are well within the playoffs and fighting for home ice.

They signed McGrattan and Parros this morning to replace Cole and Sheahan in the lineup. There were multiple fights, 2 bench clearing brawls, and half the Tampa lineup is out for the season after they got their asses handed to them. The tough guys even scared the s*** out of the puck. They just looked at it and it jumped over the goal line 4 times out of fear.

Those other teams stole a lot of points with late game heroics too. And no I don't see a favorite, but I see a team with a decent shot at it.

Totally he is a good goalie and when he is on very good, just not in the class of Price, King H, Quick, Rinne but most goalies aren't so not a big deal. If this team makes the playoffs Howard will need to be better no doubt as will the whole team (not just defense). Personally I'd feel more confident with Howard or the monster in net (he did play well against Boston last year).

Started on time. All four lines played well at even strength. Much more energy and attention to detail than they have shown all month. Tampa Bay rarely got anything sustained offensively and the PK was exceptional. Oh, and Abby is officially a sniper.

After when? The thread you made after the second game of the season? You never gave Howard a shot. Now, he struggles and you can claim you were right all along. Your opinion on the matter has been consistently anti-Howard.

I think the difference with this team and the other teams we had with terrible stretches is that we just arent that good. We stole points with heroics probably 7 times in the first 30 games. That was clutch as ever, but it has to be mentioned. The cup winning teams had the best roster in the NHL and we knew it. Everyone else knew it. Do you really see a cup contending team when you watch us play?
