Need a little Abdelkader help please

I'd be more concerned about your girlfriend resigning with you, if she finds out you're worried about spending money for something she wants... But, yeah Abby's not going anywhere.

'Tis true, 'tis true. I wasted my money on a Kronwall, whilst my dear old Dad (may he rest in peace) invested in a Lang. Should have listened to Dad like a good girl and gotten myself a Cleary like he said. That one will never be obsolete.

Kane case headed to grand jury

I would think a settlement is likely. If he's not guilty, she's going to take the settlement and run. If he's guilty, she may well rather end it with something than face a jury and have to recount the most horrific thing that's ever happened to her, knowing that in such a high-profile case people will be glued to every word. If I were in her shoes (assuming he's guilty), I'd take the money. Justice would not be served, but if you find yourself in that situation, sometimes your own peace comes before the greater good. At least he's been exposed and other women will be warned.

Right Frank, I am the one creating a narrative. I agree that Kopitar is another level of free agent, but those types of players don't become UFA's anymore. As far as free agents go now a days, all the guys I named were considered top free agents in their respective UFA years. On July 1st, 2015 tsn had Mike Green ranked as their #1 UFA (I cant remember what they had Richards). YOU wanting Franson over Green doesn't change anything. Back in in 2013 Weiss was ranked the #4 UFA skater http://www.mynhltraderumors.com/free-agents/2013-top-30-nhl-free-agents/ Just look at this list, all these guys are not "top NHL players" but they were the top UFA's....two different things. Richards and Alfie may have been past their prime, but you cant deny they are big names. I 100% admit, that these guys being top UFA's is a reflection of how bad the UFA classes have gotten, but based on what is available they are top UFA's. In 2014, Paul Stasny was considered the #1 guy, that right there speaks volumes. Just stop with the "nobody wants to come here" bit. Something doesn't become true just because you say it over and over and over and over again. You're basing this off of the fact that you were not happy with Holland's moves in the summer of 2014 and its getting old. You're mixing up "Top players" with "Tope UFA's".....see other post.

Kane case headed to grand jury

It is definitely not a perfect system, but what's the alternative use one "nuetral" arbitrators/judge? I can promise you that nuetral is a very loose term with outside arbitration. The problem doesn't lie within the system alone, but within human nature.

    Cleary re-signs... 1 year deal

Well said. NJ knew when to let Brodeur go, Dallas knew when to let Modano go, and Detroit keeps hanging on to Dan Cleary. It really makes no sense.

Things also tend to get disgusting for the victim in these situations, so while I don't *agree* with her settling if Kane is in fact guilty, I certainly *understand* it.

There's nothing wrong with being concerned for someones sweater choice. You have to save some of these girls from themselves.

Little harsh. Pretty sure he just wants to get her the right Jersey and not the one that gets stored in the back of the closet a month later. My buddy got a Schenn jersey right before they traded him and I haven't seen him wear it since... then he got a Lupul.... he aslo has a raptors jersey with his own name on it I found.... some people don't make the best decisions. Although for her I'm sure it will be fine.

    Cleary re-signs... 1 year deal

What a great way to end your career. Going from having everyone like you and your hard work, to having most fans hating your guts for fleecing the Wings year after year due to your greed/ego, while some of the young up and comers on the team are getting paid less than your long since washed up ass. Congrats Cleary! Can't wait until you are gone from this team for good and I never have to hear your name again...and I actually used to like you.

I've been wearing a Larry Murphy jersey for the last 17 years.

If anvilkrater doesn't sign for less than 3.5, I'd be shocked, SHOCKED. Speaking of amoebasadyr, you should use one of the many, hilarious takes on his last name that we've offered on this site. The scouring of gdt is in order, but there's at least four people I know who would appreciate this, your girlfriends gratitude not withstanding.

Why are you still still trying to sell that narrative. Alfreddson, Weiss, Richards, Green. I think its pretty clear top UFA's are willing to come here. Before someone misses the point of my post and says Weiss sucked while here, please understand the argument is not how the guys listed turned out, it's what their stock was prior to signing here.

Every organization has it's sh**** people. NBA, NFL, MLB are full of it. In FIFA you have tax evaders. With money and fame, someone's bound to be that way.

Do you think Judges are totally unbiased or unaffected by their life experience? Nothing is perfect.

I'd say it's a 95+ percent chance that Abby resigns next season. I would be absolutely shocked if he signs elsewhere. Not gonna happen.

    Cleary re-signs... 1 year deal

This contract that he received this season has absolutely nothing to do with the contract he received last season. This is for all intents and purposes strictly an AHL contract. I know it isn't structured that way but Ken Holland and Jeff Blashill both know where Cleary will end up after training camp. He is without a doubt Grand Rapids bound. If he is still that passionate about the game of hockey that he is willing to put his pride aside and play minor hockey, who's he really hurting? Forget about the past two seasons and look at this signing objectively for what it is intended. It's a depth signing for Grand Rapids. And I'm sure Holland sees this as a great opportunity to instill some of that great Dan Cleary work ethic that he's seen over the years into a player like Mantha. Was it a "great" signing? No, and I don't think a single person would argue that. My point is, it's not a bad signing by any means, as some are suggesting. And THIS signing (not last year or two years ago) doesn't affect the Red Wings in the past, present or future. Anyway, I'm pretty sure we've both said all we could possibly say here. I'm done. All the best to Dan. I hope he plays 50 games with Grand Rapids, puts up 30 points and provides leadership and shows the kids what it takes to be a pro.

    Cleary re-signs... 1 year deal

All the sweet and salty, sour stuff aside( because it's making me hungry), the part I'm not getting is the thought process that he's earned some sort of special right to be here because he's a great guy and a "leader". This is hardly a team that is in desperate need of leadership, in GR or with the big club. Additionally, there have been multiple players over the past few years, Chelios, Draper, Maltby, Osgood, Holmstrom, who seemed not quite ready to go but were kind of nudged in that direction by management. All of the above deserved to go out when they were ready far more than Dan Cleary but didn't get the one more year again and again. Nice guys who are good in the room are abundant in the NHL. I keep hearing he's not going to play. Well, then don't sign him to a player deal. Make him the perfunctory offer within the organization, have the nice press conference, and call it a day. He's not worthy of the special treatment he's getting and its baffling to say the least.

Cleary clearly hacked Ashley Madison and saw Ken Holland's account on there. His username was KickinTires
