Shame on the NHL... shame on them for allowing and encouraging this.

Right. They play on teams that happen to have better players and difference makers than they themselves are (O'Rielly for instance). Hence other players got picked for the all star game rather than them (in Buffalo's case Eichel). And removing John Scott from the equation OEL would have gotten picked over Domi, so that point won't work either in case you try it. Which goes to my original point that Dylan Larkin is Detroit's MVP, got picked for the all star game, and is one of the leading candidates for the Calder. The other leading candidate being Panarin who happens to lead in an important stats. Points. This isn't a discussion of who wanted to go to an all star or who didn't. The point is out of those 4 rookies, one happens to be the best player on his team while the others are not. Hence the results of the all star selections. The NHL tends to pick the best players from each team. So if they, the NHL, think Larkin is the best then I see some supporting evidence as to why Larkin has a pretty good shot at Calder. Additionally since the Calder is voted on by the PHWA and since Larkin has trended a crap ton on the media for majority of the year, that's another reason why I think Larkin has a good chance.

Every team has guys who would clear waivers. The Wings aren't unique here.

Wow... talk about absolutely horrible one sided reffing. Ignoring all the other trips and cross checks, there is no way that any ref on the leve should miss playing the puck on the faceoff with a broke stub of a stick, OR the overhead BC two hander that shattered Datsyuks stick, OR Howie getting rolled over into the back of his own net. I'm sure its just a "coincidence" that so many of these games where the Wings get totally screwed over by absolutely unexcusably horrible and questionable reffing also happen to be the ones where O'halloran is reffing.

If Jurco can get into beast mode and unlock the potential many have seen, look out.

Apparently as long as you have the puck, you can skate your way into the goaltender and try to shove the puck, goaltender, and yourself into the net with impunity.

Terrible giveaway as they entered the zone leads to that break. Not what Howie needed. Mick said ya can't blame Jimmy for either goal, but unless the forwards step it up, it isn't going to end well. PP. convert it, don't kill it.

Bad coverage.

As much as I rag on the all-star game the fact that Larkin was picked for it is also an eye opener. It somewhat indicates that he is the teams best player. If Eichel was his teams best player - he would have gotten picked. I think Larkin being such an impact player for his own team helps his case a lot. I think it will come down to Panarin or Larkin. I seriously don't see Domi or Eichel winning it unless they really tear it up to finish the season. Personally I'd rather he get second place cause the ROY winner is like a curse more often than not.

I don't think its bias picking Larkin, he is tied for the goal scoring lead, leads in +/- and really isn't that far behind in points. If Larkin had a player like Kane to pass the puck to, then it would look different in the points department. It's going to be close, but I am used to Detroit being screwed by the NHL when it comes to ROY....Yzerman, Fedorov and Zetterberg come to mind...so it'll be Kane. Oh, I mean Panera Bread.

Panarin is leading all rookies in scoring by a long way. If you don't counthis KHL experience against him, I think he wins it going away. Domi and Eichel are both playing center, which is a harder position, and have about the same point total as Larkin, which gives them an edge. Unless Larkin really heats up scoring wise and pulls away, I think one of them wins it.

If we can sign helm sub 3m, then absolutely re-sign him... Maybe the free agent market will play out like it did last offseason, where gms were really frugal and we'll get helm on the cheap. I hope this happens, I like helm, but If it's between him at $4m/4+years or miller at $1.5 for one year you call up Athanasiou and let helm walk...

If they want to go based off numbers obv Panarin but if they want to go off of difference maker/ impact etc. It is definitely Larkin. Larkin is the MVP of the Red Wings. Panarin is not a Hawk MVP.

I'm going to guess and say the NHL will give it to CONNOR MCDAVID! As high as you can get on a player even while he's injured. or Dylan Larkin Cuz I'm not biased

Maybe John Scott will run him during the ASG and become even more popular among fans.
