Petr Mrazek needs to become Petr Mrazek again tonight. No softies.

Given the way the wings have been playing and I haven't been able to watch, I'm going to tune in tonight since the last game I watched was our last win. Hopefully I give the wings some luck tonight from the bottom of a beer

Please just come out and kick some ass. Jets are tied with the Oilers for God sakes.

    Larkin needs a rest

You really kind of had to reach on that one. Quit complaining about Richards in every single thread. Start a thread about him if you want.

King Petr needs to be St.Petr and Larkin needs to pull his head out of his ass. AA keep doing what you're doing bud. Glendening is pretty awful at any situation that isn't a 5 on 4 PK. Lower this guys ice time holy hell

As Babs would say, "we need to start on time tonight". I want to see physical, intense Wings. In front of their net. No 30 foot wristers from low percentage angles.. Also, Blash has got to be in sort of a panic....right? I mean, first year here as coach, first year coaching in NHL, and he's in jeopardy of breaking our playoff streak. Got to be some sleeplessness going on. Let's do this!!

Exactly. It is preposterous to propose scratching Dylan Larkin. He's our best player!!

I don't just want a win here, I want a dominating win. It doesn't have to be a blow out, I just want to see the pace commanded by the Wings. I need some of my faith restored boys!

Let's be real here. This is a must win if the playoffs are going to be made this year. Philly has 3 days off then a brutal set of games one against us. These next 3 are massive. Get it done. 65-2 should lead the team in TOI tonight save the old guys for the embarrassing PP. win

    Forward Line Combos/Discussion

Smith in for Marchenko All these lineups are moot if Blashill doesn't keep them together. Everyone wants to see more AA. The kid took it upon himself to fire this team up and fight against a pretty scary Blue Jackets team when we were flat. Kind of embarrassing for the wings but this kid is fired up to be in the NHL

Honestly though I don't mind these things. Yes they're overdone. People have just become so cynical though. It's an outdoor game, it's fun, you think the people at the games are complaining? The same people who complain about these are the same people who complain about all-star games. I get wanting to improve things, and the whole point of message boards is to *****, it's really the media too. I just try enjoy these events for what they are when they come around.

Unless it's played on the frozen waters of one of the Great Lakes with makeshift bleachers set up around the rink and Mrs. I selling hot cocoa between periods... I don't wanna hear about another outdoor game for the Red Wings. Aren't there other teams out there that might get the benefit of having their fans see their team playing an outdoor game? I get it. It's Toronto's 100th Anniversary. There's a history between the two clubs, etc. etc. ...but a rematch of the Bridgestone Classic from three years ago? How many other games will they have played between January 1, 2014 and January 1, 2017? A rematch? Good logic. Thanks for pointing that out vladdy16.

Yeah these are wearing out. Fast. The other two games announced are St Louis/Chicago, and Pittsburgh/Philly. So that's 4 outdoor games for the Wings, 2 for the Leafs, 5 for Chicago, the Pens and Flyers 3 each I believe and St Louis is the only new team. Seriously. All these match ups just show how much of a cash grab this is for the league. Flyers/Pens is so unnecessary. I could understand if they just stuck with the Centennial Classic and then the Winter Classic the next day, but who the hell needs another one? The league has taken something that could have been really special and ruined it basically in favour of good business and earning more money, which I suppose, I shouldn't complain about because it does make financial sense.

I'm pumped for this one, as I will be there.

4th outdoor game for the Wings.. Yet many other teams haven't had any... Anyone else think this will quickly lose it's novelty? What if they run out of outdoor jersey designs hahahaha So many unanswered questions Will Hasek suit up for an alumni game? Will Yzerman be back?

    Happy 20th Anniversary, LGW!

Well, since I am 3 days late and would have been later than that were it not for TheXym reminding me it was the 4th and not the 9th, we have 2 new silver boosters - say congrats to TheXym and derblaueClaus! Donation has been made, we just need to wait for Matt to have time to change your status. The others that have submitted for consideration have been entered into another drawing for a nifty little Wings swag that I have in mind, but don't have in my possession right now. As soon as I do, I'll draw names again, and hopefully two won't stick together! This is getting expensive!

    Happy 20th Anniversary, LGW!

Thanks, guys! I apologize for not seeing this sooner. I've been out of pocket for the last couple of weeks due to the loss of a family member and just got back tonight -- and I have to say seeing this thread brought a smile to my face. Technically the actual 'birth' of the site is September 15th, 1996 -- right around training camp for the 1996-97 season and at that stage it didn't even have a message board. It was started on GeoCities and consisted of the cheesiest of tiled ice backgrounds, a picture of Steve Yzerman saluting the crowd from the bench after scoring his 500th career goal on Patrick Roy and a bit of text about what I was planning on doing with the site. I really wish I had some of the stuff from those first years. After a couple seasons on GeoCities the site moved to be one of a few fan sites on PuckPlace.com, then to a server that was hosted by the previous owners of HockeysFuture.com and then eventually to where it is now (and where it has remained for the bulk of those past 20 years.) I started this place as a bored 17-year old living in the sticks in SE Michigan and it has followed me to college, marriage, a career and two beautiful daughters of 9 and 10 (!). It's been crazy. Life has gotten in the way often and I haven't been able to dedicate as much time as I'd like to the site (and I'm always saying I'm going to get refocused) -- so I really, really appreciate the comments here and the help the moderation team has provided over the years. It's invaluable. Thank you!
