If they have to use the company name they should have gone with Little Caesars Colosseum.

The point on national TV and even during the pregame television feeds on Fox Sports Detroit they will have aerial shots of the Arena and the entire country will see the Little Caesars logo instead of the Detroit Red Wings logo. Absolutely disgusting and disappointing.

It was an issue because it was so joakim ******* Andersson can have a roster spot. That's the pill that is hard to swallow. If Jurco was given a fair shot, little would complain.

Instead of The Joe the nickname will be The Dough

I get WHY public funding is often necessary, I'm not even against public funding. I just think that if you're going to accept public funding for your teams new arena you should probably make an effort to represent and validate their contribution rather than be wholly greedy and promote your brand to their exclusion.

Trouba is a guy who can,be in the lineup now. Someone who can grow as part as the core of the team going forward. Drafting dmen is important as well, but the fact remains is we still need a dman NOW.

Well there a lot of things wrong in the 21 century, which were much better in the old days ... advertisement is for sure on that list.A building without a soul is not amazing no matter how luxurious it may be. Best example is the Pens arena modern and comfortable beyond believe but Pens fans are missing the atmosphere of the igloo. Why does every team need a new arena ? Why not improve the old one? I'm sure the Joe would have looked absolutely gorgeous with a huge renovation but no no, a bankrupt city decides to throw 200 down the toilete. And the next plastic dome is already in the works...The new oilers arena good times

It's almost comical all those new arenas are over the top built, expensive as hell but lack soul, history and of course atmosphere soo disappointed right now what in the name of is happening to this franchise? whatever the case it's not good What's next free smartphones and WiFi in the arena? we are talking about the Red Wings here an original 6 team celebrate and embrace it instead of selling out like all the other teams

I don't give a s*** what it's called as long as they keep the goal horn. When I'm at the new arena to catch a game, it's name will be the last thing on my mind.

My only issues is the public funding aspect. The MASSIVE public funding. If the illitches had paid for it themselves they could name it whatever they want and I wouldn't have much to say.

But you would see it on every television broadcast. Instead we get a pizza character. This is an incredibly disappointing decision for me, all around. Like most Detroit fans, I like to think that there is something special and unique about this team and its history, especially for an American-based team. A large part of that was wrapped up in our arena, and the ownership is throwing all of that away. It's an embarrassment and makes it harder to be passionate about hockey in Detroit. I seriously hope they reconsider. Our Original 6 heritage should not have been sold so cheaply.

Okay, yeah, that is a good case for some kind of public naming. Either public voting on a name or a public figure. I think I misunderstood what you meant before. For those those suggesting The Oven as a nickname, I disagree. I mean the Shark Tank makes sense: Sharks inside the shark tank and other teams should be wary coming in. If we have Wings inside the oven, it means our goose is cooked.

I hope they change their mind on this. There's still plenty of time. This might be the one time I hope the press/media makes the idea sound stupid so they reconsider. I can make my peace with the name but I would really prefer if the exterior was committed to the Red Wings. Red and White please.

If we could get a trouba or a young defensemen with some potential like dumba or one of the ducks/flyers many defensive prospects then we need to do it and replenish the prospect pool for defensemen As for shattenkirk or vatanen ? I personally think there a bit overrated , sure put up some points but there not known for playing solid defense ... I would take one of them ONLY if mike green was traded elsewhere .. But at 6 million per year for green that's highly unlikely unless we'd be eating cap space As for the comments around about zetterberg ... Yes he had a bad year but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and give him another season to see how he performs before saying he's done , think he deserves that I think if he's healthy all season long maybe giving him a few days off here and there so he plays around 74 games will benefit the redwings during the season and playoffs ... Same with kronwall Tough year for the vets but with Jagr still performing I think zetterberg can still bring something ... Maybe put him with athanasiou and mantha ... Omg ypu people. This man bought this team and helped make them the great team they are and ypu have to ***** because it's named after his business???

That's sports in 2016. It will only get worse with increased sponsorship involvement (e.g. sponsor logos on jerseys, etc.). I guess i don't really care. If this helps our ownership continue to remain financially solid and able to provide this team with all the financial backing/resources needed to continue to run one of the best organizations in all of sports....then I'm okay with it. I do like the above suggestion of just calling it the Caesars Center though.

I'm not really concerned with Mantha's defensive lapses. I'd rather they have him focused on scoring goals and making things happen in the offensive zone. There are enough 2 way forwards on this team
