30 goals is an arbitrary number. Tatar scored 29 before last season. Same thing. League scoring has gone down a lot. Pittsburgh penguins won the Stanley Cup last year but had only one 30 goal scorer. The year before that Chicago had zero 30 goal scorerd and won the Stanley cup.

He's 23, one year older then Mantha. I'm not saying he is a future all star, but I wouldn't give up on him yet.

This. Back then it was also common to have a team finish the season having scored 300 goals as well. We never see anyone get close to that anymore.

I'd definitely take Jurco over Miller. Even if he doesn't reach his higher potential, he's been ahead of Drew in his 3 NHL years in goals, assists, points, +/-, corsi, fenwick and probably more if you wish to look at it some more on hockey-reference.com. And before you say they play different roles, Jurco's spent a whole lot of time on the 4th and in penalty killing roles. Ott's on his way out as a 34 year old 4th liner. Only played 21 games last year only got 2 assists. LIke him more than I thought I would, but we're building for the future - let's keep this 23 year old player playing. I still think he has an outside chance to be a player of Tatar's caliber. I think he's currently better than both Ott or Miller, and when thinking of the future, why would you play low priority guys that are gone in a year or two; when you could have a late developer that adds to our future group?

Yeah, I've been saying for a while now that I see Marchenko as another Ericsson type defenseman, but with the way he's been struggling and Ericsson upping his game, I'd definitely take E over Marchy right now... Same reason I'd continue to roll with Howard, go with the hot hand. I also haven't been all that impressed with Glendening, and I'd like to see what Jurco can do when healthy. I hope he can crack the top 9 and get more than 3 games before being scratched... Still hate that Blashill was so quick to scratch Sproul and Ouellet, despite them playing better than others in the lineup...

Mrazek will start again and of course he should, I am sure it will be soon as its not like Jimmy is going to play every game. Right now Jimmy is hot, and we are a team that needs every point we can get. With Howard playing 1.22 GAA hockey, I say you start him until he comes back down to earth, obviously that number is not sustainable, it will happen. The reason why we need to let Jimmy play, especially if he is playing good, and even more so if he continues to pay good is because it is better for us as it just increases his trade value. 6 months ago we were talking about "will a team take Howard without retaining salary for a low round pick" imagine if his value could raise to a point where a team wont just take all of his salary, but they will actually give us something of value in return. Jimmy and Mrazek playing great is best case scenario for us.

The kid needs to learn some accountability. Its not a good message to send that if he plays bad he get rewarded with more starts. Its no different then what Montreal did with Price when they had Halak and look how that turned out.

I've always hated the Criesby / Crosbaby nonsense, but now McAnnoying? Seriously? These are two of the best hockey players of their generation, and you don't like them just because of media hype? Give me a f***ing break. Both are phenomenal athletes, and by all accounts great people on and off the ice. These guys are great role models for kids. I swear there's more fan hate for Crosby than there ever was for Cooke / Avery and their on ice antics or either of the Kane's and their off ice antics... I hope Crosby continues to shred this league, McDavid eventually takes over and media talks about them every chance they get. They deserve every bit of praise, and it's great for the growth of the game.

Most employees THINK that they know more then their boss and that they are more intelligent and can do a better job, but until they are in that exact position that their boss is in and understand all the variables and different factors that go into the position, they really dont fully understand, I find that often, employees typically have a very one dimensional way of looking at things, and I think fans often times have the exact same approach.

I used to think that way too but actually I've long moved on from the 2009 loss against them and don't consider them a rival anymore. But when every coach, expert and executive is praising a guy for tremendous work ethic and being an even better person of the ice than on the ice there must be something true about that, so yeah I now like Crosby a lot more. The sad fact is, every player in a contact sport especially (MMA, NHL or NFL) is one wrong hit away from retirement. I know a lot of guys think McDavid is just pure media hype but the truth is, that guy is unbelievable, he can do thinks at full speed I couldn't even dream of pulling of in Slowmotion. Also McDavid has that sixth sense of knowing where the puck is going to be, it seems like his brain is always thinking ahead. In think in 2 years he will be able to take over the crown from the Crosby by then he might be at 210 lbs and be able grind his way to the net. It's crazy to think about it but I believe once Ovie starts to slow down (in 3 years that freak of nature), I think Laine will be ready to takeover as a goal scoring machine this shot is just unfair for goalies.

Imagine four lines that could play: Tatar-Larkin-Abby Nyquist-Nielsen-Vanek Athanasiou-Zetterberg-Mantha Sheahan-Glendening-Helm Or some sort of variation of all those players, as long as those 12 are playing.
