Nielsen starting to look a lot more like Nielsen tonight. Probably the one guy i've been most frustrated with because I know how high quality of a player he really is and he's had a slow start with us.

Good shift from Ott there, great D play and good breakout chance.

Well the Avs tried it on Hasek in the 2002 WCF, but lost...that might be the last one I remember

You're right... and crafty coaches like Hitchcock will use it to derail the other team, without actual consequence. I totally agree on DOL for a failed challenge. 2002 Stanley Cup playoff game vs. Colorado. Measure this, Hartley. - Dominik Hasek

There really needs to be a deterrent to these challenges. If you lose the challenges it should be a delay of game penalty. Why is it delay of game if you ask a ref to measure an illegal stick, but not for delaying the game for these reviews. There's no consequence, particularly late in games, to challenge other than losing a timeout or the potential to challenge later.

Bedard needed to go. They just need to stop using GR coaches as heir apparents and actually interview people.

    Jurco injured

Don't forget about the recapture penalty tho' ... That's one of the reasons why I don't want him retiring nor going anywhere else and then deciding he'd rather not be playing than not playing for the Red Wings.

Disagreed entirely. Wings are on their heels, Abdelkader was to the book interfered with, the boys are getting knocked around and the only calls are going against the Wings. Ott was doing his job stepping in, trying to brawl and fire up his squad and change the momentum. That's what goons do. I'd redirect the frustration to the officials.

I hope groin injury in this case just means his jock strap broke and they don't have any spares for tonight.

There is nothing I can add to what kickazz already said. When he says that it just makes me laugh. I think of Alec Baldwin doing Trump on SNL.

I agree is almost done. I think saying he has 2-3 years left is being generous. I would not be surprised at all to see Holland protect him. I just think it is the wrong move. I also think there is a better chance that, if left unprotected, that he would be left unclaimed due to his age and what he has left. I mean, I just feel it makes more sense to take a risk on a guy like Jurco or Sheahan when it comes to building a new franchise. Sheahan can make a reliable 3rd line center for them at worst when it comes down to it. He is also young enough where they'd own his rights for a long while. In the end, they are not building a team of teenagers over there. They'll have plenty of guys who have been in the league for a few years, who can be of service for several seasons. To take a 37-year-old for a veteran presence just seems silly in today's NHL. The game is getting faster, Hank is getting slower. Younger players are playing bigger roles than ever.

Sounds like a goalie we've had.... Jimmy Howard! Man what happened to the confidence junkies like Patrick Roy and Dominic Hasek in this league.

Don't get rattled Petr, you're better than this. Keep your head in the game and brush it off.

Figures, our best player this season is down. It's Mrazek's responsibility to now step up huge and prove he deserves a shot, no excuses.

Let Neilsen get us some curly fries. As far as others, maybe Tatar and Larkin? Howard out, Mrazek in? What happened, too many goals scored? I hope Jimmy is all right.

I will be on the road heading home from visiting family. Hopefully the boys actually give Jimmy some goal support and pull out a win. Let's Go Wings!

You keep telling people they are wrong but it seems to me as though you're a pretty uninformed individual. City is a dump? Detroit, specifically Detroit around Joe Louis and Riverfront is probably one of the richest parts of Michigan. The "the dump" crap is just word of mouth nonsense people like you keep narrating. Just like any city (whether it's New York, LA), Detroit too has bad alleys and neighborhoods. (Say hello to giant cockroaches and ratsthe size of a human baby in New York) When the team was originally formed and when they played in Olympia, most of the fans were FROM Detroit. There was no metro lmao. Most people living in "metro" area surrounding Detroit moved out only recently like the last few decades because those areas grew. But this team was started, specificaly under the NHL almost a hundred years ago when the population resided in the actual City of Detroit. The metro areas were nothing but farm land lol. Additionally, any place outside southeast Michigan is more closer to a rural environment. So while Grand Rapids itself might be more of a city, it's metro area is more dispersed in populaton along with a lower per capital income for families. You compare Calgary, a Canadian town to Grand Rapids. Do you know the difference between a Canadian city that recognizes Hockey as it's main sport to an American city that doesn't? Even if Grand Rapids has as many people as Calgary, most of those people would not be interested in a Hockey team as they already have the Wings.
