    Looking ahead at expansion draft

Coreau's size does not help his game at all
  2. 2 points
Aren't these our Manthas, Larkins, Schevnikovs, Athanasious? Are they wasted picks?

Or they take Sproul and everyone ******* that he should have been protected over DD. Or they take Green and everyone ******* because we should have traded him for something. Or Nosek and everyone ******* because we protected Sheahan. Or Coreau and everyone *******... Or ... and everyone *******...

Because he has no good explanation. One "rebound" season for Jimmy numbers wise where he started TWENTY SIX games, and Coreau getting lit up in most of the games he played after his call up, and Mrazek is expendable? LOLLLL!! Maybe he has a plan in place with Vegas, but I don't see what that plan is. The only protection option in goal that makes any sense from an asset standpoint is Mrazek. I fully expected him to be on the protected list. I think 97% of anyone with any hockey knowledge did by the press and fan reactions. Holland saves himself Jimmy ******* Howard. The goalie he tried to trade a year ago, and no one wanted, because of his play in minimal games, and the World's. Who cares about the World's? That was an all star team compared to the crap he has to play in front of in Detroit. I'll honestly laugh my ass off if he turns back into Jittery Jimmy and gets lit up after this. Idiotic Holland. 2017 Draft

Hilarious that you menation me, because I couldn't disagree more with your picks. Those are two of the handful of guys I would be disappointed if we pick. It looks like you're basing your picks too much on size. We need skill with our 9th overall pick. If you've read anything I've written in this thread, you'd know I'm totally fine with taking centers or defensemen, because both are massive needs now and in the future. My picks based on who I think could potentially be available at 9 are Glass, Tippett, Liljegren, Makar. There are quite a few others I'd be okay with as well, but if we take Rasmussen or Vesalainen at 9 I'd be pretty disappointed...

Saw on twitter that Mueller was the player San Jose picked when the wings traded down to pick Mantha and Bertuzzi. Looking like a good decision now.

Pretty much. What's he got to lose. He can take every goalie on that list if he feels like it. That was one of the things he talked about doing. Take all the goalies he can, keep who he wants, flip the rest. Luongo is a bit of a surprise to be exposed over Reimer, but he's near the end of his career, so I can see justification in it. Green and DD both have NTCs and had to be protected. What I'm thinking is...should we even had protected Goose and Tatar, or make them available because they both might not evolve into anything more and Goose is already overpaid, if thats the case? On the other hand, even if he is, it's just two years and he could get traded for some asset possibly. Low level journalism at it's best. No substantial background to the headline whatsoever in the whole article. The headline over that text should be "might've led to", not "led". But maybe dude was just too dumb to learn anything better..

I am officially out on this team. I cannot handle how ******* awful Holland is at his job. Runs his team into the ground with bad contracts, and at least is given a miracle long shot at getting out on some if the player is taken. The team should have 100% bad contracts unprotected. I know it is unlikely... but wtf Mrazek might be better than Howard. IF you were close to winning a championship, you might take that risk going with the more proven person... but Detroit is no where near that point now. If I could take Mrazek in the expansion draft, I would because his potential is amazingly high, and a single bad year on a team with a bad defense is hardly enough to throw him out on. Howard is not going to win a championship here in Detroit, and his contract is nigh untradeable. Mike Green shouldn't be on this list because he should have been traded for anything because of this. DeKeyser also shouldn't be on this list, as he is the type of player that would come back to us later if we needed him. The NHL right now is about two things. Defensemen shortages, which will only get worse with another team added, and superstars that get coddled and protected by zebras. When it comes to this draft, the two take away only lead us to ONE result that should be taken. Protect our Defensive prospects. Danny and Mike are not those, our window has shut, and neither are good enough to drag this team to a cup. In fact Mike Green, is one of the worst defensive defensemen in the league. That was the reason he was dropped by Washington. However, Sproul and Ouellet?!?! WTF, they are definitely going to be taken. They might never become bedrock pieces of a team, but they are young and proven capable of contributing to a team at the second and third paring, and might end up being power play pieces. These are the types of players that if all things were equal would be worth a 1st or 2nd round pick, but with Defensive shortages they might be worth a lot more after just one breakout year. Mrazek, Coreau, Ouellet, Spoul, these are horribly risky to expose. Combine that with the fact that Howard, Green, DeKeyser, are s***ty contracts and won't help in either rebuilding or competing. This is enough to make you angry. Furthermore, combined with the fact that the NHL keeps giving the cup to Pens and Hawks over and over again with bad penalties and drastically unbalanced amounts of power play time... it makes this whole sport empty. There isn't any grit anymore when the rewards go to the worst behaving, and your team is run with extreme ignorance. I have the feeling Yzerman would have at least made us closer. Holland has put us so far away, that we aren't going to be good until we crash and burn and get our own whiner or rapist. I am out. The glory days before the lockout are all the NHL level hockey that I guess I will get in my lifetime that is truly quality.

That's exactly how I feel man. They probably would have taken Z. Especially if they're looking for a captain or something. He was a top point producer in the league last year and the cap hit is nice for them to reach their cap limit. Not to mention he has no NTC, NMC and they wouldn't actually have to pay him much since his salary drops to $3.5 million then $1 million. A $6 million 70-ish point producer that you DON'T actually pay wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up. There are a very few older players you want on your team in this lesgue. Z is one of them. The other one is Joe Thornton. Also Marian Hossa.

"the organization" is sucking wind if you haven't noticed...maybe "the organization" shouldn't be so arrogant, get off the pedestal, stop worrying about the "Red Wings culture," and get with the post-cap era like all the other teams. Kenny is running a veteran loyalty program...he is not working hard enough at fielding a competitive team...He should have been fired 4 years ago.

This doesn't matter. Vegas will take best player available, and use some as trade chips after the draft. Mrazek is our best player available, and I'd be shocked if he's not taken. This.

    >5M cap relief >>> Howard At least Mrazek is not injury prone. KH is retarded

    2017 Draft

I really think were gonna draft Tippet and Hague. Unless we dont. But we probably will. But I would be okay with it if they choose someone else. Unless Tippet and Hague are still on the board. Do you think they have ever heard of Tippet and Hague? Ive never actually seen Hague play hockey, but I really believe he'll turn out to be a Hall of Famer. Here's my draft order that no one asked to see 1. Tippet 2. Hague 3. Patrick 4. Hischier 5. Tippet 6. Tippet 7. Hague 8. That one kid that ive also never seen play but he's like 6'6" 9. Tippet and Hague 10. Gretzky

Yup, virtually every pro scout has it wrong, but LeftWinger knows the truth... I guess the problem is, they all watch hundreds of games of all these kids with their "pro-Swedish" glasses on. Really, no Swede should come close to the first two rounds. F*** Swedes, they all suck! Just as LW, he knows... And yes, despite what evidence has proven over the years, a junior league is "far" superior to a pro men's league... You always spew s*** about how you can always admit where you're wrong. Sorry bud, but this is one of those times. Make the stand...
