Yeah, I'll never actively root against the Red Wings, and I'm not even going to say that I expect them to bottom out, but in such a top heavy draft, it wouldn't be the worst thing getting one of Dahlin, Svechnikov or Tkachuk in next year's draft. Dahlin is already being compared to Karlsson, the way he can skate and dictate play. We don't really need any more wingers, but it would be cool to have the Svech bros together. Svechnikov could be the most skilled of the three, and has the potential to be a Tarasenko type player. If Tkachuk is as good as his brother Matthew and dad Keith, he could be a great add as well. Best case scenario (outside of winning the Cup...), all of the young guys take a huge step forward, we finish just outside the playoffs and pull a Flyers of this past season, jumping way up into the top 3 of the draft lottery.

I don't really want him. He scores some goals once-in-a-while but he's not a game-changer by any stretch. I'd rather see someone cheap from GR in his place. Face it, nobody here is going to be happy next year if we come close to making the playoffs, and I can't imagine anybody at this point thinking we have a chance at getting past the 1st round if we do get in. He's certainly not going to carry us. We need a high draft pick next year. Why pay that much money for somebody (nearly the same amount of money that Z gets) to score a goal now and then to get us that much closer to the ninth seed and a lower draft pick?

Tatar is not much better than Filppula or Hudler during their tenure here. If they can walk, he can walk.

When will he realize that these big/long contracts to players like Tatar/Abdelkader/Helm/Dekeyser/Nielsen are killing this team?

Not if he's asking for $6 million. I've already said $5 million is the max. The real question is, now that he's clarified his relationship with Holland is good, how do YOU feel about that? Sounds to me like Holland is putting the best deal for the team and Tatar wants more $$ than he deserves.

I do believe it's making fun of me since most of the players I don't like are from a certain country. If I can laugh at it, so can you. I don't take it personal, neither should you.

That doesn't help us fantasy book the territories, brother. I tried looking for clarification on the rules for cap space and when you have to be compliant, but it's pretty muddy waters out there on the interwebs. Capfriendly has a nice LTIR FAQ, but no definitive answer on when a player can be placed on LITR. I tried looking at the CBA as well... and would rather jam something into an orifice than continue to try to decipher that Newspeak.

I'm starting to agree. His total earnings would be $31.5 million. That's $1.5 million more than what Tyler Johnson would have made by the 6th year of his contract. He should be making no more than $4.75 million imo, and definitely not more than Johnson by the time the last year of his contract hits.. But whatever, $5 million to ease his stubbornness should be the sufficient. Jeez, I'm shocked if he really does want $6 million. That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Basically asking to get paid the same as the best player on the team (Zetterberg whose cap hit is $6.08 million). In order to be at that level, you have to produce at that level. And Tatar was about 22 points behind Z last season... Yikes. Not even close. Not to mention Z does more than score points, plays center and is a really good defensive forward. I'm not sure what Tatar is thinking. I wonder how much others in the league are making that score at his level.That's probably whats causing all this ruckus. We know the Johnson contract screws him over but I wonder about other players.

I'm not even sure I'd be comfortable with that contract to be honest. I think my cutoff is right around what Holland offered ($5Mx5).
