Try calling a Canadian an American to their face to test whether that works, though.

Mississauga, Ontario, Canada is not quite American, but close enough! I love the Mississauga area! Hence my affection for Steelheads to become Red Wings!

Same, he's one of the top guys I wanted leading up to the draft... which is why I put the .. i wasn't exactly subtle about it. Yeah, Theodore was mostly a joke. And yeah, the ducks were dumb to do that imo too. I think I'd lean Foote picking between him and Hague/obviously would love to have any of the three. That top pair would be stupid awesome even just a couple years down the line, let alone when they're REALLY in their primes. Imagine the reactions from fans around the league if within a 4 month span, we added Dahlin and Liljegren the new era Swedish mafia

Theodore would be amazing, but no way Vegas gives him up. I still can't believe Anaheim offered him up in the expansion draft to protect Vatanen and Manson... Idiots... Absolutely. I'd love to have Liljegren or Hague, but Foote would be my number one choice of those three. I was big on Johansen a couple years ago in his draft year. He hasn't put up big numbers since, but I still think he'd be a good addition to the pipeline. If it was between Hague and Foote, I'd take Foote for sure, but both would be great additions. Hague is having a great season with Mississauga, but playing in the more offensive league (OHL) helps those numbers for sure. Foote is playing in the most defensive league (WHL), and still putting up great numbers. A top pair of Dahlin and Liljegren would be unreal...

His cap hit is 5.3 his actual salary is 4.25. I don't know how the cap hit works out if salary is retained. Anyone else know? I thought the same way to. But at this point if there aren't good enough offers to trade either one, than it might be best to keep both for one more year going into next season. Mrazek would have to be qualified at 4 mil, which is an overpayment for sure. And yes 10 mil is a lot of cap/salary for goaltending, but this team should be rebuilding. There's no need to be spending in free agency this summer. As long as the RFAs are all signed under the cap, then I am okay with keeping both now and figuring out who to keep and who to trade next season.

Negotiations should begin with a 1st and their top prospect. Start high, and be willing to come down. Don't start with what you want. Tampa Bay - 1st plus Foote Washington - 1st plus Johansen Toronto - 1st plus Liljegren Vegas - 1st plus Hague ... but of course we'd settle for a first and a mid level prospect... Seriously though, Green is literally the only pending UFA offensive defenseman available. We should get a very nice return for him... If Smith gets us a 2nd and 3rd, Green should get us a 1st plus, minimum...

I've never "given up" on Mrazek, and I know of several others around here that haven't either. I also know of several others that think Mrazek sucks, but aren't as vocal about it. Like CRL said, he's loud, and so is chaps on this topic, but there are people on both sides. I've been saying for months that Mrazek needs a legit shot again. He's been given that. So far, so good. Let's see how he handles the next few games, few weeks, rest of the season. No way would I trade low on him at the trade deadline though.

    Where does Bertuzzi fit?

Bertuzzi got legit taunted and bullied IRL in Vancouver from what I hear. I met the guy before in one of the malls here in Michigan. Great guy. Took a picture with him, talked about random s***; took his time with a fan. Speaks volumes.

That’s ignorance. The Western Hemisphere are the “Americas” period. Divided into north and south as two different continents. Ya’ll be skipping your 5th grade history lessons. It’s technically “Europe” were Datsyuk and Zet referred to as “EuroPEAN Twins”? Sounds ugly. It’s Euro Twins. ThE NoRtH AmErICaN tWiNs Just did. He said “i guess technically I am an american, but not a US American” Was something supposed to happen? I’m in Downtown D we got you blokes commuting to work from Windsor everyday, I’m surrounded by them.

I’m totally in for an old school Franzen vs Hossa fight. Should’ve kept Hossa and let Franzen and company walk. Hossa is a world class player at both ends of the ice. Holland got his head up his ass about his own prospects again and let the real deal walk, and then most of his guys walked and he strapped up the Mule for 19 years or something. Everything is pain. The most clear-cut beginning of Holland’s decline as a GM was how he handled that situation. That was the first big sign that he was losing his grip on the wheel.

What do we have to include with Green to get Shea Theodore? Hell, I’d be stoked for any of Liljegren, Hague, or Foote for Green straight up. Especially Liljegren haha (I’m sure I’d end up equally ok with Johansen but I don’t know anything about him.)

Amen I'm partial to Steelheads and Sockeyes, but I'm pretty sure Mississauga won't give up Steelheads. I also like the idea of Sealions so I chant ARF ARF ARF after every goal

I don't think that's really so clear at the moment, so we'll have to see how long that moment lasts. All I'm saying is that when you have a young guy like this who had the start he did and struggled, but kept fighting behind the scenes and played himself back into the lineup, it might be wise to take a wait and see approach. If this was year after year of fits and starts, that'd be one thing, but it isn't. We're talking about an early period of this guy's career on a terrible team with a goaltending situation that both have admitted publicly is somewhat difficult. Maybe, just maybe, that's not the best environment, and maybe, just maybe, that had a hand in screwing with a young kids attitude? Maybe he got a wakeup call and pushed through and rose above it. Again, from reports from coaches all year, that may have been the case. Now he's getting his shot to prove it, and so far so good. We are not rich enough on guys with his kind of upside to just shrug our shoulders and say piss off. If he can keep this up, you have to find a way to get him one last chance next year. And for the record, I was saying that quite early in the season before all this. I've thought from the start that they needed to give Mrazek a fair shot this year given what the coaches were saying and what we know of his upside. I think it's dumb it's taken this long and it has nothing to do with hating Howard. It has everything to do with AGE and what's best for this team long run. I don't even think we should trade Howard. I say f*** all and keep both next year unless you can get a decent return for Howard. Howard is never going to win a Cup here, so if we can move him to a good team where he has a chance and he's cool with it, great. He's not going to make or break us next year if Mrazek s***s the bed again; we'll be f***ed either way. So deal him if you can, be grateful to have him one more year for Mrazek testing if you can't. It seems win-win to me.

The age gap is too far spread to simply say Howard is whatever to Mrazek "at this point in time"... Who do you think will be more consistent when Mrazek is Howard's age and Howard is 41? Not really a fair comparison is it? Though you'd probably still say Howard because "Mrazek will be sucking it up in a lower tier European League"... Howard is a veteran, and Mrazek is just entering his prime. Of course Howard is more consistent. Zetterberg is more consistent than Athanasiou as well. Does Athanasiou suck just because he's not "consistent" every night? No. People see flashes of brilliance in AA, just like most do in Mrazek. In a rebuild, we should be looking to keep as many of these type players as we can, not trading them for peanuts, and keeping the vets...
