Mind if I join the HYPE?

Thanks! Been lurking for a really long time and decided to join in on the fun. Don't expect too much of me though, I'm lazy and don't post much. Mainly use different forums as a source for news.

Read that article. Sounds like Holland is pretty open-minded with his deadline approach and is certainly saying all the right things. Willing to entertain any scenario that doesn't involve moving a young core player. (D'uh) It's all on the buyers IMO and what they are willing to pay. Should be a fun 3 weeks!

The Griffins were down 1-0 with less than two minutes remaining, and The Moose took two consecutive penalties. We pulled Sateri to make it a 6 on 3, and Hronek scored a one-timer off a pass from Zadina. They put Sateri back in, and immediately gained control, set up for the 5 on 4 and scored less than a minute later with 25 seconds remaining. Big win, and big night for Hronek. Zadina played an okay game. Had a really good chance early in the game, but was robbed. Lashoff also scored what would have been the tying goal earlier in the 3rd, but it was negated due to goaltender interference by Rasmussen. As nice as it is to see Hronek dominating down in the AHL, he really should be in the NHL.

All right boys. Let's go on a run here!! I will very very disappointed if you don't win your way out of a top 10 pick. Because a top 10 pick is the last thing this team needs. HYPE

I figure Holland's pretty serious about wanting to re-sign him and I figure Howard probably wouldn't mind sticking around. Holland wants the team to push for the playoffs next season. If just a few things go right for us, we might have an honest shot at getting back into the playoffs. Howard gives us a chance to win every night, so we're mostly managing to avoid the whole "consistently bad goaltending that crushes the spirit of a rebuilding team that's already low on confidence" thing, which is good.

You've got to figure that Howard gets traded regardless of the return right? I mean, provided he wants a chance at a Cup. Let's say Holland re-signs him, we're realistically a few years away from Cup contention best case scenario. Holland would be crazy to sign him for more than a few years. Meaning, MAYBE in the final year of his new contract he'd have a realistic chance at playing for a Cup. At which point he'll be 37 years old, and will likely suck. So he probably wouldn't be playing anyway. I think this whole, "we may re-sign him" thing is smoke screen to get the best deal possible at the deadline.

Yup, based on comments Blashill made yesterday, it seems like Larkin's just about ready but they want to be 100% sure he's 100% good to go. Definitely good to see Rasmussen back. Sucks that Bert's still out tho.

Questionable is great news, since he was expected to miss 1-2 weeks, and a lot of people were thinking maybe even longer. Good to see Ras back. Hopefully he can get going here. I'd love to see what he could do in a top six role, but that can't happen with elite top line winger Justin Abdelkader...

This is how some imagine that trade went down: Holland's phone rings ( cause he doesn't actually try to make deals)... KH: Hello. GM: Hi Ken, George McPhee here. KH: Make it quick George, this isnt one of the 3 days a Year I work. GM: OK. Since you are the only team in the NHL with a player available, and I am desperate to overpay...how about a 1st, a 2nd, and a 3rd round pick for Tatar...Cuz y'know I gots all these extra picks laying around I can afford to just give them away. KH: You mean I don't have to negotiate at all? GM: Nope. KH: Sweet. Phone clicks.

There's also a real possibility that half of those guys could be re-signed, especially if Holland is still the GM... If Kronwall wants to come back, I think he'll be back. If Holland can't get a big return for Nyquist, I think he'll be extended. Same goes for Howard. Vanek should be done, but wouldn't be surprised if he's brought back either. Frk and Witkowski are depth guys, basically making league minimum, so if not them, it'll be two players costing around the same. Jensen could (hopefully) be brought back at a slight raise. I could see Green and / or Ericsson brought back as well. Daley will likely (hopefully) be done. Bernier could go either way, and may depend on if Howard is still around / playing at a high level. I could also see Glendening and / or Helm brought back... Of course they're not all coming back, but I could easily see a few of them back beyond their current contracts. I agree with Trouba. I'd go hard after him next offseason. I'd be okay with signing Duchene if we can trade Nielsen, who I'd be aggressively shopping at this point. Otherwise, I wouldn't be interested.

Filip Hronek with two goals tonight for the Griffs. Does he even still count as a prospect at this point?

I wouldn't be looking to sign any outside UFAs this summer. We'll have a young core coming off ELCs and needing raises in a few years, and tying up large sums of salary/cap space for players that are past their prime and no longer worth their cap hit is just bad management IMO.

I think a projected pick around 30 is a fair return. If Holland had some brains, he'd bargain for a 2nd in 2019 and a 1st in 2025.

I'll be at a couple games in early March, and it would be awesome to see him live.

Interesting....I was going to say that I used to watch a ton of games with these teams participating. I knew lots of guys that play for both of these teams and other teams in the AUS. Games were never that crazy like this, but now I see it is something out of the ordinary that sparked it. Junior games are normally more rough, whether it's Major Junior, Junior A or Junior B (or at least used to be).

I take it, Larkin is ruled out for tonight's game...
