Whoa whoa, check yourself friend. Yzerman is not a whiny turd because he wantedto manage a team that wasn't the Red Wings. By that standard all of Holland's and Babcock's proteges for the last several years have been whiny turds. Are you saying the RedWings have been run by whiny turds??? Yzerman was sent off with best wishes. Holland wasn't stepping aside so he, like Nill, had to go somewhere else for their career to continue to progress. I hope Steve has an illustrious GM career, whether if it's for us or not. He was raised by us and trained by us and thus I hope he continues to reflect that high standard when he's apart from us. He is the opponent now, I understand, and I want nothing more to trounce his team. But that doesn't mean I don't respect the man or his team.

I remember when Ozzy was never good enough, Hasek was a has-been, Yzerman was washed up with a bad knee, Fedorov was a money grubbing prima donna, Chelios was too old, same for Fetisov, Larionov was too frail and fragile, Shanahan was getting too soft, these new kids Zetterberg and Datsyuk weren't ever going to fill the shoes of the heroes before them. Man...those were the days.

I felt like this thread needed to happen - I usually don't do this, but seriously guys... Almost every post I have read (from our fans) has the Red Wings out in 4-6 games. It's not going to be an easy series, but what am I reading? Our biggest disadvantage is in net... and the other team has Ben Bishop starting who has NEVER played in a playoff game? Since 2008 this guy was a backup goalie before starting his first season last year, since then he's had 2 good seasons, or 1 fewer than Jimmy Howard has had and Jimmy's best seasons were a lot better than Ben's. But who cares because..that's right! Petr Mrazek is starting in net for us - now were doomed! Wait a minute, lets check his resume... 2012 - IIHF WJHC - Bronze Medalist - Named Best Goalkeeper in the tournament. 2013 - AHL - All Star, Calder Cup Champion. 2014 - AHL - All Star, 2nd in GAA, 3rd in SV% - Played his first games in the NHL. 2015 - Named playoff starter for the Detroit Red Wings See a trend starting here... Next, Well if the goaltending isn't as lopsided as advertised, were still doomed because in 2014-2015 the Tampa Bay Lightning averaged the 2nd highest 5 on 5 goal differential and Shots For/Against (for you analytic fans), and because playoff hockey is played much more at even strength, we have to be in big trouble! Like I said, it wont be easy, but playoff hockey is much different as we have seen our own teams built exactly like this lose to LA, Anaheim, Edmonton, and Calgary in early rounds as prohibitive favourites. People lose sight of the fact that we have 2 of the worlds best defensive (and offensive) forwards playing against them... As long as we win those matchups, we can win the 5 on 5 puck possession game as well. Obviously, this mean special teams are imperative - but didn't our PP finish 2nd in % and 1st in goals scored this season? Finally, no explanation required. KRONWALL - ERICSSON DEKEYSER - MARCHENKO QUINCEY - ZIDLICKY HEDMAN - STRALMAN CARLE - COBURN (injured) SUSTR (inured) - NESTEROV Lets go boys.

I'd love to be positive, and I still feel positively about this team long term, but I think they're still a bit too young and inexperienced to get the job done. They supported that line of thinking as the season went on. I also don't think the defense is nearly good enough. I feel good about Mrazek but I'm not expecting too much out of a rookie because frankly, I don't think it'd be fair to. But I want them to win, and if they can play anything like they were playing earlier in the season, I think they definitely can win this series, and maybe more. They have a lot of the talent, but they've got to get back to operating like they did earlier in the year when they were in "best case scenario" mode to make that happen at this point in time. It's possible, and I'm hopeful, but I can't ignore the fundamental problems this team still has right now on defense and the overall lack of experience. It's simple as that.

That's what I was gonna say next. Beaten to my own punchline. Go Wings Go. I want to see Zetterberg make Stamkos cry like he did Toews a couple of years ago. We have the best captain in the NHL

I have absolutely no problem with any of it. Restricting ticket sales to local area is nothing new and it makes total sense. If you can sell all your tickets to locals, more power to you, why would you want it open to anyone. In terms of the logo issue, it's not like they are banning other logos from the building, only an exclusive club within the building....again, that just makes sense and if you don't like it, it really is the proprietor's decision, there would be no grounds to call discrimination, etc. In fact, I'm pretty sure a corner store owner can choose not to sell to someone for any reason they want (not that this is the same scenario)

This is absolutely true. I thought they were, but many folks were in sky is falling meltdown mode back in July. It wasn't until the season started and they played well when all that went away (for the most part).

Doubt it. Holland is quiet fond of the younger players. He had a lot of good stuff to say about Marchenko on his own accord at the FSN interview few months ago. Babs is also fond of Marchenko (hence he's starting game 1) So they both meet eye to eye on that. Babs has said it time and again that him and Holland have a very good relationship. Before the trade deadline he said that he gave Holland a list of what he needs and Holland followed up with 2 veterans. Holland basically gave what Babs had been wanting. A right handed shot and a big body (Zids and Cole). If they disliked each other you wouldnt hear them agreeing on basically everything and you wouldn't have seen a right handed shot on our roster after trade deadline (a damn good one for cheap too). I'm pretty sure both Babs and Holland agree on one thing. We need a goalie that can win it for us. Whatever it takes. As of now, seems like coaches believe Mrazek is the guy. Holland just wants results.

    No Scoring and No Fighting

I can't even remember seeing many big hits this year. For or against the Wings. I can literally recall maybe only two or three for the Wings this whole season. Granted I know the Wings aren't the team to watch for hits but still.
