I've seen this posted in the All-Star thread butI think it deserves it's own thread because the ASG thread will be full with ASG talk saturday. http://www.theplayerstribune.com/a-guy-like-me/ Goes to show you what a bunch of mean spirited, disgusting idiots the NHL has in their front-office and what a SOB Don Maloney was in that whole situation. I hope the players help him score some goals as a big F U to the NHL. I'm also loving the phrase " a guy like me" - whatever people may think about John Scott and his role the fact is, he is one of 700 NHL players, period. If some suit wearing idiot would have told me on how to be a dad and what MY kids might be proud of I don't know if I would have responded as friendly as Scott did, so huge kudos to him. Smart and great guy NHL needs more John Scotts and less idiots in their headquarter.

Another graveyard shift story- This was many, many years ago. A guy came in wearing a baseball cap, glasses, sandals, one of those half t-shirts, and a g-string. He was followed by another guy who was giggling and carrying a video camera. This was back in the days before smart phones and (fortunately) the internet as we know it. Videotaping was not allowed in the store, but since there was no way of it getting out for the world to see, I didn't stop him and just went along to see how it all played out. The guy in the g-string strutted (like he had anything worth strutting) back to the pop section of the cooler. I kept a straight face. It just about killed me, but I managed to look bored. He brought his pop to the counter and gave me a $10. I gave him his change. He held the coins in his hand but put the bills in the g-string, saying, "I like to keep my bills in here." You know how you always think of something funny to say when it's too late? Yeah. I'd been keeping the perfect straight face, but the perfect comeback was out of my mouth before I could stop it. As soon as he tucked the bills in the g-string, I said, "Good thing they're small bills." His friend was doubled over laughing, unable to tape. The guy turned beet red and I had to crack a smile. Wanting to let him off the hook, I said, "Is this for a bet or dare or something?" He chuckled and went back to the same strutting-type personality he had before and said, "Why no. Why do you ask?" They left laughing. I smiled and had fits of giggles for the rest of the night.

    Dennis Wideman Suspended 20 Games

I don't believe for a second that he didn't know what he was doing or didn't see the linesman. He was looking right at him and raised his arms to hit him. It's probably something he woudn't have done if he hadn't been knocked loopy, but he did it with intent anyway.

Any chance Dennis Wideman gets in?

I wish Tangradi would get a 10-game stretch on the Wings' 4th line. Let's see what a big body with some snarl can do on this team.

I couldn't put this in the spook yourselves thread, even though I am terrified of spiders. A guy posted this on the computer forum I frequented years ago, and I found it amusing. I left that forum in 2008-2009, and haven't been in touch with the guy. I hope he spider didn't get him.

So if he was dazed and cross-checked an opposing player from behind, it would OK? If he was dazed, why did he stay in the game and not go through the protocol? Guys are responsible for their actions if they are conscious and aware, and this type of cheap shot with a stick is not OK regardless of who was on the receiving end. The fact it was an official makes a suspension almost a requirement. I'd say 10 games.

He also is completely unphased by the Nashville playing coming towards him at high speed and even slightly moves out of the players way. If he was out of it, he would have reacted to the player skating right towards him too.

I think it was intentional. You don't have to have a bad rep to lose it for a second. He certainly walked back to the bench fine and played the rest of the game. I also haven't heard anything about him going through a concussion protocol Why would you put both hands on your stick (in cross check position) well before approaching the bench? I mean look at the following image. He's no where close to his own bench and he's looking right at the linesman and he already has his stick in an approaching cross-check position.

I agree, still think he should get 10-15 games. I want the NHL to finally set an example on you can't touch the refs like that. Unacceptable.

If he was willing to do that, I think he would have made that adjustment already. Some guys think that no matter what, they can make it as a scorer and either refuse to believe any different or would rather play in a lower league as a top player than be a role player in the NHL. Michel Picard and Don MacLean come to mind, as does 95% of the older European players who come over and end up back in Europe after a couple years.

    Joakim Andesson on Waivers

Yeah, the Joakim Andersson thread has evolved into how we should remodel our 4th line now that that scrub has cleared waivers... I've said it before, I'd rather Helm at $2.75M than Miller at $1.5M, but if Helm is asking more than $3M, I'd let him walk. I really want to keep him, I just wish he weren't forced into the top 6. He's not a top 6 player, but because he's been up there for a year or so, he'll expect to be paid like one...

    Goalie Battle

I really have a sneaking suspicion that he'll end up in Buffalo at some point. It's one of the few places that seems to make sense for both parties. Be that as it may, it'll likely end up being something none of us even considered...

He certainly didn't seem out of step when he was up. And he looked massive out there. And he has great hair.

...and that´s the reason why Jets won´t let him go, they are in exact position with goalies like us, but he´s ufa after next season.

Maybe Holland is hoping that if he moves Andersson enough, he'll get stuck on waivers... Like some kind of purgatory for fringe NHL'ers.
