Hey Kenny and AA, theres your comparable. Anderson just signed a deal for 3 years, $1.85M per. He had 17 goals 12 Assists for 29 points. AA had 18 goals 11 assists for 29 points. 2 years $1.9M IS market value for AA, lets get this done! ...and then lets get Sheahan traded (or Kronner LTIR) to clear up this cap mess!

We on staff, unless we access this site 24/7 for the next few days, or weeks, don't know when these spammers strike unless you report it as soon as you see it, and it sends us an e-mail which myself, and other mods likely will receive immediately on our phones. It speeds up the process when we receive a report, and we can get rid of this annoyance faster. Please LGW, as tedious as it may be, report these spammers so we can clean this garbage off of our forums until we find a more permanent resolution to this issue. We will snuff it out as we have done previously, easier and faster with your support. Thanks in advance for all of your help and patience during this recent raid of spammers on our site.

Yup Josh Anderson signed for 3 years $5.5 million or an AAV of $1.85 million and Holland offered AA fair market at 2 years $3.8 million give him the extra year like Anderson and be done with it. Lol good man, How can AA say no to that. After Josh Anderson signing for $1.85M per for 3 years, I honestly hope that AA's agent Darren Ferris still doesn't think that AA is worth $2.5 million with Anderson signing for less then what Holland offered AA he's pretty much has to accept that deal.

Athanasiou Signed 1 year $1.4 mil

I mean if this was the corporate world, sure I stand my ground. But with pro-sports and as an up and coming player, if it has gone on this long, I would take the $1.9 million and play some hockey and prove my worth after 1 year or whatever the offer is. Especially because after looking at the franchise track record; they pay their RFAs decently well in their 2nd contracts (Nyquist, Tatar, etc)

If there was a clause in my contract saying that I was not able to leave my job for another job, then yes.

So the Blackhawks traded a 3rd round pick to us for Jurco, protected him in the expansion draft, then waived him? I guess the expansion draft part makes some sense, as they essentially gave up TVR so LV would take Kruger, but considering LV then traded Kruger, Chicago clearly misread the market. Not a good look on Bowman.
  11. 2 points
He should take the offer because it's market value and sitting out is not going to do him any good on any front. Holland will not trade him. No one is going to offer sheet him. If he's smart, he takes the offer and works his ass off to prove he's for real and to earn a big raise when it comes time to negotiate a new contract. If he's sitting out because of Blashill, he needs to get over himself and grow up.

True. I do still wonder if there’s a deal already in place just waiting for AA to sign..

    Opening night roster v Wild.

I agree with your lines, except I'd swap one of Abdelkader or Helm with Booth. I don't like DeKeyser on the top pair, but we know that's where he'll end up. Yes, the deadline is today at 5pm EST. With Sproul being waived yesterday, and once Franzen is placed on LTIR, we should have just under $200K in cap space. Bertuzzi is on IR, and once he's activated, either he ($661,667) or Booth ($700,000) or Witkowski ($750,000) (hopefully the latter...) will be sent down to Grand Rapids (unless there are other injuries before then)... Like you said though, another move will have to be made to get Athanasiou signed. Hopefully there's something in the works as we speak...

Same agent, same amount of points, one goal away from each other, $1.9M looks perfect from my view...

Great news! I'm pretty sure Anderson circled back to Columbus' original offer from a few months ago as well. $1.85M x 3 years. Maybe Ferris smartened the f*** up and advised him to take the deal. Hopefully AA does the same over the next day or two too.
  16. 1 point
Well now that Anderson has resigned with the Blue Jackets, That now leaves Andreas Athanasiou as the only RFA holdout left to sign. Hopefully he signs sometime today or at least in the next few days.

Ironically enough, the guy that busted his butt in preseason and will take AA's roster spot wrote about his experience in the KHL. Maybe AA and any other player looking to jump ship should read this first. https://www.hockeyministries.org/home-ice/blog/my-experience/

No doubt that it lies somewhere in the middle. Comparables are not the be all end all, but they do mean something for RFA's. UFA's are just different because it becomes more of an "auction" where players either go to the highest bidder, the best team (ie. want to win a cup), or somewhere they have a connection (ie. hometown/team that drafted them). RFA's have to go to sign with their team since offer sheets really don't exist, so that is the situation where comparables are often brought up.

Booth doesn't really bother me at all, dont like Sproul getting waived. Maybe the kid is a bust and they figure why not just cut their losses, but I'm not sold on that and I don't think the kid got a fair shot.

Not exactly, though. Under the idea of a 2 year deal they have a demanded amount. If they were talking about a 1 year deal, I'm sure both sides would be arguing about different numbers. And the 4 year deal idea would be another thing as well.

Google search of "Ken Holland contract talks" and the first link on the Dekeyser negotiation: "We had a number of productive talks until a couple of weeks ago," Holland told Ansar Khan of MLive, "[but] it's gone quiet the last couple of weeks. It's gotten to a point where it's difficult because there aren't many comparables." https://www.thescore.com/news/575364 Not sure why you challenged this part. Of course GMs are always looking at comparables for negotiation. That's why we often get deals in waves in the offseason, when the market is set.

Your argument is very logical, I can't fault your thinking, however it's just not the way GM's do business when it comes to RFA's. Comparables matter, that is how they determine what a player makes when it does go to arbitration. UFA's, different story. If the only job I could take was in Russia or a European country, then again....yes.

    The 13th F......

I never suggested this... Like I said, ideally teams prefer to go with 14 forwards and 7 defensemen. Booth and Witkowski would be my 13th and 14th forwards... Frk is nothing like Pulkkinen other than their shot...
