Melodramatic much? It's blindside and it's an elbow to the head. Plus Perron didn't have the puck. 3 strikes and you're out.

    How about these lines?

No offense, but that's stupid. Relying far too much on goalie chemistry for that third line. I know Ozzie is tied for third all-time in goals by a goalie, but he can't carry a line by himself. Swap Stuart and Howie, and McCollum needs top-line minutes in GR to develop. Salei is a stud, no idea why you left him out. And why on earth would you have a dinosaur like Homer starting in goal when we have Miller? Do you not know who Miller's brother is?

So other than the fact that Thornton plugs Perron with a blindside elbow to the jaw, and Pietrangelo doesn't toss his bucket, what exactly is in that clip? Certainly nothing about hitting no longer being in hockey.

The thing about Bert is he fills a net front type role when he needs to and has size. He's good down low and in the corners and can help get the puck to a sniper like Franzen. You actually think breaking up our second line that have been on a tear is a good idea just to hopefully get Hudler going? Hudler is playing with guys that are good enough that if he is that good he could produce. Fact of the matter is he has became lazy, is still small and extremely weak. Another Abdelkader type guy on this team would be a lot better then that 5'7 lazy midget. When Abby is on a line its much more energetic and if there isn't a scoring chance he is at least banging some bodies and creating energy. If Hudler isnt producing he is playing lazily defensively and getting laid out

    Class Act Organization

I've been casually viewing this site for awhile but until today I never felt the need to share my opinion. Today, however, was different. My brother was diagnosed with leukemia while playing junior hockey in Saskatchewan earlier this year and he had a bone marrow transplant a couple months ago in Calgary (he's had to live there for the last several months due to the lack of facilities in Sask.). We have been die-hard Red Wings fans since we were really young and it's been a dream of ours to someday watch a game at the Joe but today he experienced the next best thing. Mike Babcock gave him a call this morning and invited him to the Wings practice in Calgary and invited him to meet all of the Wings. Every single Red Wing took the time to not only introduce themselves but genuinely get to know him. He was encouraged by Dats and Zets to stick around for practice prep and to come back after practice for some autographs. Ken Holland offered him tickets for tomorrow's game and Babs invited him back tomorrow to once again hang out with the Wings after their morning skate. For a kid who's been through a lot in recent months, he was on cloud nine today. The Wings have always been my favorite team but today they turned it up a notch. I was absolutely blown away by everything today and I think it's safe to say we all cheer for one of the classiest organizations in the NHL .

    An Unlikely Scrap

I'd love to see Crosby get killed (literally), but he'll never fight anyone who's a much better fighter than Niskanen. Get used to seeing this type of s***. Now if there was no instigator rule.....

Not true. This fight was more energetic because of all the pulling and ragdolling. Datsyuk actually fought someone who knew his way around a tussle so there was more strategy involved. Let Crosby take on Perry and see how he fares. esteef

Keeping your head up won't protect you from a guy coming at you from the side and elbowing you in the head.

Just the fact the Happy ran off the to KHL and is probably likely to do it again if he gets moved from Detroit makes him nuclear waste. No other team wants to touch him.

I find it hilarious when people think that Modano is going to be a 13th or 14th forward! News to everyone, he is not going to be lower than the 9th forward. He was promised third line minutes and that is why he signed here. If he was given unsure answers about how much time he was going to get he would have retired. Like him or not, he WILL be on the 3rd line. Piece O' Carp Hudler is the odd man out. Nice knowing ya Huds! Go back to Russia! edit: for Hudler's $2.8M there are a ton of players who can and have been playing better than him in this league. I'd take any of them of Spudler...

    Hudler + Helm

This is the same problem Hudler has always had in Detroit. Not good enough to play in the top 6, and too lazy to play with checkers and grinders. I honestly have no clue what to do with Modano, but I didn't want him here in the first place for that very reason. He just doesn't fit into this team at this point in his career. He's not some Dallas Drake that can be 40 and play effectively as a grinder. And like Hudler, he's not skilled enough to be in our top 6. Don't know why Kenny Holland and some people here thought he would work out.

Is Hudler a 50 point guy anymore if he isn't playing on a stacked powerplay like he was back when the wings were absolutely dominant? Clarkson and Hudler both score around the same amount of goals but Clarkson could be part of a grind line like line with Abdelkader whereas Hudler is just getting pushed around out there.
