Current standings
BigWillieStyle and 3 others reacted to Rick D for a post in a topic
We have played one game since the deadline, and won. I hardly think our current position in the standings has much to do with the lack of trades at the deadline. -

CHL, Other Junior Leagues Look to Ban Fighting
hockeygirl8 and one other reacted to Kindl Surprise for a post in a topic
There's a reason us college hockey is so much chippier than chl hockey and it's because the only way to get back at someone for being chippy is to be chippy right back. I'd be interested in knowing how many people around here that grew up playing hockey are people who want to get rid of it. I can understand getting the goons out of the leagues, but fighting is in the game for a reason. -
1 pointAnyone watching Costas tonight on NBC Sports? He's about to start talking to Bettman solely after the break. Bettman already said CBA negotiations has not even started. Makes me feel great about next year. Not. He's just so...what's the word, slimy. Costas already brought up him getting booed handing out the Cup...it was funny to watch him squirm about that. I'm not gonna recap the whole thing, but it is going to be rerun next as well.

The San Jose Sharks, the Anaheim Ducks, and the Colorado Avalanche (though not much anymore). You play for these teams, f*** you as far as I'm concerned -

Oh wow. I can't believe I'm the first to mention Pronger here. -
1 pointHome ice should also translate into quite a bit more rest from travel, which isn't nothing but significant if home ice is Vancouver or San Jose..

Brad Stuart's family issues
ComradeWasabi reacted to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot) for a post in a topic
I certainly remember the stories claiming he was "reconsidering" the possibility of moving to Sweden. He has done that for as long as he has been earning the larger contracts. Every contract year I have heard stories about this. -
1 pointEven Bylsma said Letang put himself in that position by poke checking at the puck last second. Said he would rather have him play along the boards there instead. f*** Milbury. The more I hear him talk the more I despise him.
-
1 pointI think it was a clean hit. Letang put himself in a terrible position at the last minute, at that speed its hard to change course at the last minute.

1 pointIt gives you something shiny for one of the Alternate Captains to drive down Woodward with. If you don't win the Cup, nothing else matters.

Russia/Canada Revisit the Summit Series
Z Winged Dangler reacted to cusimano_brothers for a post in a topic
Stuff about Team Canada and the Summit Series: 1) Of the thirty-five man roster, seven players played in all eight games, while five played in none. 2) Fifteen players have been elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame; two of them played no games. 3) Two goaltenders played the same number of games. 4) "The Slash" was arguably the turning point of the Series, although both Canadians would later diminish their roles. 5) One player scored three game-winning goals and, except for USSR comebacks, would have had two more. 6) In the blink of an eye, the same moment is captured by two different individuals. 7) Game Four was important for two major reasons: A) Phil Esposito gave his famous post-game speech and B) The fans reaction, both during and following the game, was embarrassing to both the players and to the rest of the country. This was the touchstone game of why people have come to realize that Vancouver has some of the most ignorant hockey "fans" in all of Canada. -

Or it could be that Stuie is just a decent guy who realizes that he could have to move at the drop or a hat, and that it is important for a child to be with her father, and he's doing the decent thing. More power to him. -

Do Maple Leaf fans deserve better?
T.Low reacted to Detroit # 1 Fan for a post in a topic
Can't wait to hear the "Fire Wilson" chants the next time the Leafs are at home. This is new for the Leafs, usually they stink it up and then make a run at the playoffs and miss. This year they had a playoff spot all year until there recent stretch and now there probably not gonna make it, again. -

2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET
Frozen-Man reacted to puckbags for a post in a topic
Who asked you to lower your expectations? It might be a good start to set out some realistic expectations though. I know this team has a shot to win every year, some years more then others but even my undersized brain knows it's not going to happen every year. For the first time in 20 years this team has to look ahead at the big picture with impending retirements and free agents leaving. Most teams arent good enough to plan for the future as well as make a run at the cup, its usually either one or the other. If I was a new fan to hockey and logged on this site today you would think we were in 11th in the conference and trying to make a run at the playoffs. -

Post-TDT: Red Wings stand pat, no additions
Frozen-Man reacted to Doc Holliday for a post in a topic
The fact remains the Wings pulled something off that no team has done in the history of the NHL. Yes, weak. They have been money at home other than recently and it gets borderline strange to go after that when you could easily discuss the weaknesses of the team in much more rational ways, and with much better targets. One thing I find annoying about people who talk negatively. They like to talk NEGATIVELY. -
1 pointkindl gives the puck over more than him... E hasn't been THAT bad, way better than kindl. Idk why u are all over E when we have such soft 4th liners, and roster
