Howard was painfully average today. Did you see those average saves he made? All 45 of them.

I think Joey Mac was solid last year when Howard went out with the injury. Everyone thought the streak would come to an end after Jimmy went out. Probably not a #1 guy, but I think he's a respectable backup.

Even more interesting if Grand Rapids did it.

He seems like a really nice guy. I hope he finds a good home where he's happy, and I wish him the best- except against us. I still remember that Islanders game.

I haven't seen any threads on the board about him yet this year, so I figured I'd start one. Let me start off by saying I've been perhaps the biggest Ericsson critique on the boards the past 3 seasons. His passing was horrible, his decisions baffling, he played like he was Hudlers size in the D-zone. But that was then and this is now. Ericsson has been, at least to me, our best overall defenseman. He's making great decisions with the puck in his end consistently, his passes are tape to tape quick and hard, he's getting shots through on the offensive side of things and it's leading to offense for the team. He's got a goal and 3 assists to go along with a +2 through 8 games, pretty damn good, especially for Big E. But perhaps the best thing about his play this year, is he's taken steps forward in being that big mean defenseman he has to be. Knocking guys around the net, clearing the crease. He developed into a decent penalty killer last season, and that's stayed true this year. His hits and blocked shots #'s aren't anything to look twice at yet, but I'm sure they'll get there. Anyway, I just wanted to pump the guys tires because he has completely changed the way I think of him and look at him as a D-man. Keep er going E.

Ya the team that was easily eliminated in the 1st round and then lost the 2nd best defender of all time while making no major splashes in the FA market is better than pretty much the exact same lineup that won the Stanley Cup. The Kings then outshoot Detroit 47-31 on the road. Are you really and idiot or do you just purposely say idiotic things.

Jimmy looks petty damn elite today.. "Average" is wayy under rating him. He's been great all season long.

I said this last year several times, but the JLA DJ really needs to cue up Van Halen's "Top Jimmy" when Howie stands on his head like this.

I have NHL Gamecenter Live and watch all the teams - so I hear all the announcers. Of course, I hear Ken and Mickey more than any others because I am first and foremost a Wings fan. I can say this with confidence: on the scale of 1 to 10, wiith 10 being a complete homer and 1 being completely unbiased - Ken and Mickey are definitely close to low end. With NHL Gamecenter Live, you can choose either team's annoucer feed. One thing I like to do is compare what the announcers say on controversial plays. There are some announcers who virtually never go against their own team on a controversial call. But Ken and Mickey do it all the time. Case in point: the "illegal head shot" Backes layed on Huskins. From the second it happened, Ken and Mickey said it was a bad call.

I'm a sucker for history, so I wish they'd keep it. There's plenty of sporting venues around the world that have been around since the beginning of the last century. The JLA isn't even close to the age those buildings are.

I think Ericsson and Lashoff were great today. But man has Ericsson turned his game around a lot. It seems his contract is now a discount instead of an overpayment.

Now that he finally will get the ice-time he desreves Hudler is going to prove Babcock and a lot of people here wrong about him. They weren't given an opportunity. The Red Wings believe that it is better for their development to play more on top lines for the Griffs than have limited roles with the Wings.

This happened to me last year. I went to a game, and a bunch of the kids i wanted to see were up in Detroit. I had to watch Conklin get beat up by an AHL team.

It almost seems like Tatar got better playing in Grand Rapids, and is now more NHL ready then before? No, that would mean Holland knows what he is doing.
