    Brunner Contract Talks

All this talk of $1.5-2M, its no wonder people slag off KH so much when they have such unrealistic expectations. He is an UNRESTRICTED free agent. Y'know, those guys that desperate GMs give huge contracts to? If we can get him for $2.5M that would be amazeballs.

For those in west Michigan, the game will be televised on WXSP. http://www.wxsp.com/dpp/watch_wxsp/where_to_watch_wxsp

Brunner will be a classic scorer with another year or two under his belt, a true sniper IMO. Don't screw around with Brunner, get him under contract as soon as possible.

    Detroit: Circa June 2018...

(the voice of Gary Thorn) Welcome to downtown Detroit for game 1 of the 2018 Stanley Cup Finals. The first of many in new Little Ceasers arena. This finals features the Western Conference champs Anahiem Ducks and the Eastern Conference champions Detroit Red Wings. now for the introductions. For the anahiem ducks....who cares...... Now for the Detroit Red Wings. Starting at LW, the season hits leader and penaty minutes leader, coming in at 6-5/235 pounds: Mike-The Left Bower-Mckee! At center, the regular season goal scoring leader measuring in at 6-3/210 pounds: Anthony-Crimson Death-Mantha! At RW, season totals of 25 goals and 150 penalty minutes, tilting the scales at 235, standing 6-5: Mike-The Right Bower-McCarron! At right defense, the current Norris Trophy winner, coming in at 6-4/215 pounds: Ryan-The Sniper-Sproul! On the Left D, The Captain. Standing in at 6-3/215: Danny-The Flying Dutchman-DeKeyser! In the crease, the grumpy old man. The league MVP: Jimmy Howard! Back to the present. Let the draft games begin! Some thoughts. 1. Of the lineup I just mentioned for the future, we already have 2/3's of it. Just need Mantha and McCarron in this years draft. 2. If we make the playoffs or not, we will most likely be picking bewtween 12th and 16th. Baring a major change between now and next weekend. 3. Most of the many many draft links have Mantha going between 12th and 22nd. Right were we will be picking. We need big tall goal scorers. Mantha is that player. he is 6-3/180ish, shoots lefthanded, and scored 50 goals this season as a leftwing. 4. We strongly need to add RHed shooters and size. McCarron is currently 6-5/227, RHed, and is from Detroit. Most of the sites have him going between 40 and 55. In other words, where we pick in the second round.maybe the 3rd, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Big American Forwards that can skate, score, and play physical go fast. Grabbing McCarron in the second might be more important than Mantha in the first. There are a few other options in the first that also fit the bill. but not so much in the second. 5. This is a deep draft. Lots of potential 20+ gola scoring power forwards available. The key to how good our draft is, may very well be the 3rd and 4th rounds. Who we get in these 2 rounds will be the deciding factor between a good draft and a great draft. More thoughts and ideas for the draft later.

Get those brooms out Griffins! Send them home and bring the cup home. Hope we absolutely steamroll them. Blow them out the building and back to where they came from.

What would you give up for Malkin?

In case you forgot, a Dallas loss in that team's final game of the season was necessary in order for Chicago to make the playoffs in 2011, and they got bounced in the first round in both 2011 and 2012.

Regardless he is a top 5 forward in the world. He will get minimum 7mil and is very much worth it.

They won their cup in 2009. They like to win every 20 years. Hopefully they go more than that, or just never win again, but Ray "GM of the year" Shero apparently didn't get the memo that the cap is going down 6 million next year and you can't blow 18.2 on 2 players and still have enough depth to win the cup, hence Boston's sweep of them. The B's have 4 lines, the Pens don't. I'm actually quite happy the Penguins have handcuffed themselves though as I have intolerable hatred for that organization as a whole.

Very exciting game. Crunch was forechecking hard causing lots of bad passes. It didn't help the Griffins were a bit flat footed in the first. Saw Ken Holland and Mike Babcock, they were in the upper balcony behind section 222. Ken Holland and entourage crossed the street behind me as I drove past the arena to park. Always bring a sharpie, you never know who you will bump into. One more win, Lets Go Griffins!

I can't believe the numbers you guys are throwin out. Compare him and his scoring to Hudler and then consider Hudler got 4 yrs @ $4m per on the open market. Guys that primarily put the puck into the net are the hard one's to find.

I did. But you angled your description to fit only Franzen. Thats not realistic. I want our GM looking for GOOD value. Not FMV. Having the guy who should be a 6m cap hit but only takes 4m is a good value. At this point, Franzen isnt providing us what we need in the 3 spot. That's our most glaring weakness. Because Drew Miller hits and scores at the highest rate per ice time per dollar paid on our team doesnt mean we should just say "problem solved", right? Franzen gets the juicy linemates. He gets the juicy ice time. He gets the pp time. And yet you keep defending his stats that we arent really worried about. Its TOUGHNESS that the Red Wings need. Not 3 more goal and 2 more assists per season. Its the guy that sends Shaw home with a broken face in game 4 and starts his golf season early before he has a chance to cheap shot and injure our 2nd line center in game 7. The Wings need Franzen to play like Bickell. Not like 45 year old Jari Kurri.

    Mursak?

Good for Mursak. Take the money, do well over seas, then hope that it works out to be a similar path as Rafalski took.
