I was never a huge fan of Stewart when he was a ref and things like this affirm it. Not as bad as McGeough but Stewart seemed to have a big ego and it affected how he managed games. Regarding Lindros, if those stories are true it sounds like Lindros was being a hothead rookie, but never talking to the guy again and admitting that it affected how you called penalties on him for the rest of his career?? And then he has another grudge with Ferraro? He basically admits to playing favorites. It sounds like he took it all way too personally for an NHL ref. As for Yzerman being a whiner, I don't remember him doing much of it early in his career but as he got into the later years he definitely didn't hesitate to give refs an earful.

Nashville has a lot of tools in place, although I don't think Laviolette is the right choice and Ribeiro is well a locker room cancer...anyway I believe this is Poiles last chance to save his job

Actually it's pretty well known he was one of the biggest whiners. Some people just get caught drinking te cool aid of their team and don't always see things like this. Ask penguins fans about Crosby sometime LOL.

As for Cleary, it's awesome that he does this sort of extracurricular work, and I'm glad that the Red Wings take community involvement, charities, etc so seriously. There are so many organizations that literally cannot function without the aid of volunteers and/or donations. The Wings' organization does their fair share in this regard, and also provides a good role model for others in the community to do the same. Good on Cleary to keep that spirit alive. At the very least, I hope you've followed in Cleary's footsteps and are regularly donating your time and money to those less fortunate than you.

But you're acting as if, if the right questions were asked, Holland would be all forth-coming with "the truth". He has his famous sayings.. "I like our team" etc. for a reason. They don't have to answer to us whether we like that or not. Success has granted them some leniency in that department. If that continues downward I don't expect them to turn to their fan-base for direction. Again, I read the Wings media reports to get updates on players (reports, stats, facts) and read opinion pieces to better reflect on my own. Not to read Holland Q&As.

Ken Holland could start doing his job better and then there wouldn't be so much criticism aimed at the organization.

Are you a UofM fan? It is well known that he always write negative articles not only about UofM but the whole state of Michigan and Michigan sports. It;s one thing to be objective but to go to the lengths that he does to talk bad about all of Michigan sports is a bit much. I understand his thing is to take the unpopular stand on all subjects but he goes over a lot. example of him trying to start something but gets smacked down.

Drew Sharp is a d-bag who DOES in fact troll all things UofM. If you think otherwise then you haven't really seen him in action.

As a life long Wings and Jets fan, it is not the "Forsberg", it's the Zhamnov. Forsberg can suck it. Z and that Preds kid do "The Zhamnov". Glad I could finally get that off my chest. In addition, Forsberg did it what? 1994 Olympics or something? I was at one of the Jets games in 92 or 93 when Zhamnov broke in and started doing it. Back on topic, sort of, I like Preds fan. Anyone who rags on him for posting a topic in the General Discussion area needs to calm the hell down. People always say, hey, I don't know much about that guys, can anybody shed light on what that player is like. Here's a video of what a couple players are like, now you don't have to ask. Edit: After some research, Wiki stated that Forsberg borrowed the move from retired Swede Kent NIlsson, but that doesn't take away the fact that Zhamnov did the move 2 years before Floppa.

Favorite Dan Cleary moment: '14-'15 season where he bounces back from injuries and the bench and scores 25 goals.

If we didnt resign Cleary and Quincey i'd be all for this, Have yet to see what a healthy alfie and zetter on the same line for a season could do.

    Alfie wants to play

Uh... So call a guy out for going to a team you doubt has a chance at winning the cup, then criticize his desire to win? I don't get it... He was basically the most consistent forward on the team last season. He was a welcome addition in my eyes. If he's healthy, I'd want the guy back.

    Alfie wants to play

If Alfie wanted to win the Cup, he obviously wouldn't want to come back to Detroit. So that begs the question. Do we really want a player on our team that isn't serious about winning the Cup?

Thank you for creating this thread GMR. With all the negativity being spouted around right now about Cleary and KH, it's actually really refreshing to remember why this guy was beloved in the first place before all this crap. I voted for when he knocked the crap out of Phaneuf. I still remember that to this day, and I remember being so happy because I hated Phaneuf with a passion at the time.

Exactly. The defense is automatically improved significantly just by experience alone. DeKeyser and Smith will continue to get better, and Quincey is very likely over his big time struggles in this lineup. Which he has already shown. Not to mention there is a very real possibility Kindl may never be in the lineup again *fingers crossed* We get that puck moving dman and suddenly the defense is looking realgud. Sometimes I feel like I am the only one who is very excited to see what this team is capable of with the youth all together for the entire season

Franzen jumped first, for which I don't blame him. He was coming off a season that few had predicted. Hossa was coming off yet another good season. His playoffs were bad due to injury. I don't remember when it was that Franzen re-signed, but I thought it was a great deal at the time. Hossa knew he could make more elsewhere, even though he'd probably have stayed if the money was right. Franzen wasn't sure if anyone else would offer that plus he wanted to stay in Detroit. (The part about Hossa is a guess. The part about Franzen was what I remember him saying, but after this amount of time, I have no link for it.) As to the direction of this team, I'd say it's getting younger, but still with some veteran presence. If this means a lag whilst the young guns get a couple years of experience under their belts, than it is what it is. I just hope they don't wait until Kronner, Dats, and Z are old to get another Cup.
