A few years ago I went to the UC with my daughter to watch the Hawks play the Canes. She was a Skinner fan. The Canes were losing unfortunately and a gentlemen who sat next to me who chatter with me a little bit said, "It looks like your team is losing" to which I replied, "That's not my team, I'm a Red Wings fan" to which he never said another word to me the rest of the night

I would much rather none of the Wings go. Rather, they should enjoy a relaxing vacation or rest an injury. Taking part in the NHL sponsors weekend long circle jerk that is the All Star game seems counter productive. Can we cast negative votes for the Wings somehow?

I'm not sure why anybody thinks it is dumb for a reporter to ask a hockey player about Nelson Mandela when said hockey player is attending a ceremony specifically to honor Nelson Mandela. If Justin Verlander attended Margret Thatcher commemoration night, and when asked said "Ms. Thatcher is the best player the WNBA has ever seen, and I loved watching her play when I was a kid", he would be a fool. It looked dirty as a mere result of Ballard's own actions and the result of the hit. If he had taken the hit (already passed up the puck) instead of spinning away and ducking down (why? Just why?) He would have been hit clean. In my opinion Ballard did it to himself. I hope he is ok though.

I agree that they may attach some conditions for the players being exposed, but I don't think there would be any shortage of those "bad contracts" available (Semin, Mike Richards, Brian Campbell and Matt Carle come to mind). While I think teams should have a minimum amount of salary exposed, if the criteria is too specific, it's going to handcuff a good number of teams. For example, outside of Michal Neuvirth, Buffalo doesn't have another player in the 2.0-3.5 range. I think the onus should really be on the expansion teams. They can overpay UFA's, make deals, etc., but I agree there should be a minimum amount of cap dollars made available - maybe not just so specific on the number of players and their ranges. It's another obstacle (the cap), but I think teams would be relieved to unload some of their contracts for sure.

If we lose Mrazek, Helm, Ericsson, or Abdlekader because that "Count Von Count meets Gollum" lookalike ******* troll want to put a rink beside a blackjack table, I'm going postal. That being said, I'd go with 2-3-7 and do exactly what you did except I'd protect either Helm or Abdlekader over Weiss.

From what I've read through the forums I don't believe there are many folks who think Zetterberg is completely healthy, myself included, although its a bit confusing that he wouldn't be resting if he wasn't 100% considering how conservative the Wings have been this season with regard to injuries. Having said that, Franzen and Nyquist are also both in cold spells, and when nobody on the line is taking charge, everyone's going to suffer all the more because of that. But like you said, Babcock can hardly break the lines up, because production has been solid throughout the other three lines, and at the very least the Zetterberg line hasn't been a liability defensively, so if Z, Nyquist, and Franzen can break even, Babcock still has two (sometimes three) other lines to carry the offensive burden, at least for now. Perhaps when Abdelkader comes back he can be put into that line to get a spark going, or if Zetterberg is injured perhaps the team will be more inclined to rest Z up at that point.

Consider outcome of Madela's actions and (for instance) Washington's and you may understand you cannot suggest comparing these...

They were criminals against England and treasonous. I understand the reason's behind Mandela's vision, but at the time Communism was the apex of the axis of evil. I guess what he tried to do was no different than what our fore-fathers did, just a differnet time in history. Other than that, outside of being communist, I guess they had the same goal as Mandela. I am not saying what he wanted for equality was wrong, just that he wasn't that "good" of a guy. I really cannot defend our guys any more than I can defend Mandela. Thank you for making me see the similarities. And with that I apologize for criminalizing Mandela and makes me wonder even more, how the f*** someone is so clueluss to who this guy was!?!? p.s. I am not being sarcastic either, I do appreciate the eye opener today!

I'd expect these people to have, at least, a general ******* clue about what's going on outside of the sport. I guarantee that Bernier knows who Miley Cyrus is, for example, FFS.
