Team next season?

Kindl out for a rookie. Cleary out. Pulkinnen in. Gustavsson out for Mrazek. Andersson maybe out. Anyone wanting a lot of changes is going to be disappointed. -

Let me go ahead and sum it up for you then. We come out fast and dominate the entire first period scoring 5 goals (Helm, Helm, Helm, Z, Tats). Quincey Smith and Big E combine for zero penalty minutes the entire game and Mrazek shuts the freakin' door on any hope the Panthers have in the 2nd and 3rd. Wings win 6-1. Nyquist picks up the EN goal. Enjoy the night off -

My Ideal Playoff Situation
MrazekFanBoy and one other reacted to krsmith17 for a post in a topic
I didn't really want to start a new thread for this and this place seemed as good as any... I really hope Ottawa overtake that 2nd Wild Card spot over Boston. They're currently only 4 points behind with a game in hand and they play tonight in Ottawa. Huge game. Go Sens! Ottawa - 13 GR - 79 PTS Ottawa seem to have an easier schedule down the stretch, with 8 of their remaining 13 games at home and 3 games against Toronto (easy 6 points lol). Schedule: BOS, TOR, SJS, NYR, @TOR, FLA, @DET, TBL, WSH, @TOR, PIT, @NYR, @PHI Boston - 12 GR - 83 PTS Boston only have 4 of their remaining 12 games at home, and two of those are against Tampa and one against Anaheim. Schedule: @OTT, @FLA, @TBL, ANA, NYR, @CAR, FLA, @DET, TOR, @WSH, @FLA, @TBL We play both teams in the next couple weeks, so I'm hoping for an overtime win against Ottawa on March 31st (I'd even take an overtime loss if I knew it wouldn't affect our seeding and Ottawa ended up needing 1 point to pass Boston at the end of the season...) and a regulation win against Boston on April 2nd... Both teams have been playing very well of late, but Ottawa have been unbelievable. And it all starts with the goaltending they're getting from Hammond. Where the hell did this kid come from? Great story. I really hope they get in... -

I actually like the Helm - Sheahan - Tatar line. I think it will prove itself to be quite awesome. -

The person below me game...

I was once accused of being a nice guy... The person below me is somewhat disappointed in the human race. -
1 pointPretty much this. I would be absolutely shocked if they found someone to take Weiss' contract at this point. No one's going to touch Mule, IMO - he's either done and stuck on LTIR or he'll play for Detroit. Honestly, I think that Cleary and Gustavasson are the only surefire bets to leave. I'm really hoping they find a suitor for Kindl, and I'd like them to part ways with Andersson and give Callahan a crack at that 4th line RW spot.

Statistical view of 3 on 3 OT
Wheelchairsuperhero reacted to GMRwings1983 for a post in a topic
How about having the two teams' enforcers square off after OT to determine the victor? I'm sure Bettman would love that. And it would appease the enforcer slappies like frankgrimes, FMichael and Detroit #1 Fan, by keeping tough guys in the game. -

I gotta say, atmosphere-wise College games are unbeatable. I've been to games at Munn and Yost, and they're GREAT. But recently I was introduced to Lynah rink by some friends who are former Cornell grads. HOLY SHAT is that good hockey. If any of you are ever in upstate NY (I don't know why you ever would be) hit up a Cornell hockey game. Their rink/fanbase is incredible -

Team next season?

You don't think the team will look into resigning Cole and Zidlicky? They've both been pretty good since they came here. -
1 pointI don't think their defense is that bad. In fact I think Price has inflated numbers due to being a better goalie than Howard and having stellar D.

1 pointOh, so we're all just A-holes trying to argue about nothing huh? "Barking on about the comments"??? Barking? What is this? Some slight against dog people? Please show me one shred of evidence about how cats are superior to dogs? Oh wait, you can't. There isn't any. Your move cat boy.

Statistical view of 3 on 3 OT
Hockeymom1960 reacted to Buppy for a post in a topic
The home team should get to pick the skill competition they want: Shootout, Fastest skater, Puck handling, Hardest shot, or Shot accuracy. If tied after 3 rounds, game decided by sudden-death fight. -
1 pointI share habs fans fears when it comes to Jimmy and Petr. Although if Mraz turns out as good as Price, that would be a positive surprise.

Statistical view of 3 on 3 OT
FireCaptain reacted to Wheelchairsuperhero for a post in a topic
This might sound crazy but I don't think not enjoying ties makes one an imbecile. I hate the shootout, but I also despise anything unfinished. 3 on 3 may be gimmicky, but it's at least an improvement on the shootout as it still at least requires some team work. -
1 pointHe was also the fourth string goalie in Montreal to end last season behind Price, Budaj, and Tokarski. Def a huge turnaround. Yeah, kinda looks dumb on the Oilers, but he was'nt doing well there, and they tried to shake things up. Right change of scenery works wonders I guess.

Statistical view of 3 on 3 OT
Izzy24 reacted to GMRwings1983 for a post in a topic
3 on 3 is just like a shootout. You're creating a gimmick that we never see in a real game in order to manufacture a point for a team that doesn't deserve to win. I'll make it simple. If two teams play a game where neither team was good enough to win in "regular" play, plus OT, the game should end in a tie. Neither team deserves the extra point. Awarding an extra point just for the sake of it is stupid. If the casual American sports fan doesn't like that, they can go jump off in a cliff into a forest full of werewolves carrying STD's. I'm tired of changing the game to appease imbeciles. -

Statistical view of 3 on 3 OT
AtlantaHotWings reacted to DickieDunn for a post in a topic
Ideal would be 4 on 4, then 3 on 3, then the shootout, and if you lose the game, you get nothing regardless of if it's regulation, OT, or shootout. The current system awards teams that are good in the shootout instead of just good, and the 1 point was meant to divide the games in case of a tie. The next best would be make every game 3 points. 3 for regulation win, 2 for OT win, 1 for OT loss. But that would make teams less bunched up and reduce the parity a little bit and Buttman doesn't want that. -

Dubnyk a Hart Trophy condender?
DRW Dominance reacted to FlashyG for a post in a topic
He's been an incredibly nice story, but there is absolutely no chance whatsoever he wins the Hart or likely any other hardware. When you combine his first half of the season to his second half Carey Price leads him in every category. Still he's resurrected his career in a contract year, hats off to him for the payday he'll receive. Personally I think he's playing above his head similar to what Craig Anderson did with Ottawa, I have my doubts he'll repeat those numbers again in his career. -
