Anybody who thinks the Wings "don't care" or "don't want it" should rewatch that celebration.

Pretty crappy way to treat fans of the game. I would guess all winter long the seats in Tampa get a boost in ticket sales from out of state visitors and now they want to repay the favour by making it difficult for those fans to go see a game. Any business that says your money Is not good enough because you are not this gender race from this state wear these clothes cheer for this team or any other pretty much form of discrimination really shouldn't be in business period. If you don't want my business in April because I live in Toronto or Detroit or the last town in the state of Georgia on i75 before you hit the state line. Then next winter when I want to see a game in February when you have empty seats on a Tuesday night. I WILL NOT buy your tickets. I will not stay in your hotels or dine in your restaurants Tampa I'll wait till Wednesday and go to Miami / Lauderdale and pump my money into their town instead. Isn't the salary cap a direct reflection of the revenue the league as a whole brings in? If Tampa has empty seats in their building because of restricted seat sales every team in the league should be banging on Gary's door asking how is this good for the game our fans our growth.

Big ups to Jimmy for locking it down in the sudden death. I decided to see if my rabbit would be good luck, so I held him and petted him the whole time. Guess the bunny is joining me on the couch for the rest of the season.

StoryTime with BoS (STwBoS)/ I have a great memory from freshman year of college at U of M. It was the UM/MSU game, and our student tix were waaaaay up in the nosebleeds of the student section (like row 92 or something). It was all UM fans and there was a great atmosphere (because this was moons ago when UM football was awesome), and about halfway through the first quarter this guy stands up and rips off his UM shirt to reveal an MSU shirt underneath. Everyone starts hootin' and hollerin', good times were had, then it quiets down. A voice comes out of the stillness, and confidently asks: "Hey bud, do you want all of our scholarships to State? We're not using them." Much raucous laughter ensued, as everyone looked to the person next to them "did you get a scholarship to State? SO DID I!" And the infiltrator snuck out, never to be seen again. So that's what I imagine it will be like at Bolts games, only with a mass of away fans absolutely DRAGGING the home crowd. /end STwBoS

This is the pivotal moment of the season! Howard stops an unbelievable amount of SO attempts for him...

When was the last time someone scored a goal without a helmet? I wanna see that happen. A guy can dream.

Third straight game taking a lead to the third. Would be a really good time to lead after three for once.

To answer your question, because comparing American markets to Canadian ones is pointless. In the US, hockey is more of a regional sport, and even in those markets, fan support is dependent on the team's winning. In Canada, hockey is the sport. It's a part of their national identity, and it seems every Canadian joke has something to do with hockey. Win or lose, they pack their arenas, doesn't matter if you're Edmonton or Montreal. With all of that said, michigan has long been a big hockey state, and was long before the Red Wings started winning again, so I think the title is fitting. Aside from maybe Minnesota, Michigan is about as close to being a Canadian province as it gets in terms of the sport's popularity and presence. And no, even mentioning the word "Hockeytown" and Boston or New York in the same sentence is stupid. Those are baseball towns, first and foremost. The Red Sox and Yankees are like the faces of those two cities...

Do Red Wings fans deserve better?

Yeah, I understand that Football is probably the most popular sport in Detroit, but that's the same for almost every American city. What other American city would deserve the title of hockeytown over Detroit? Boston? That's an old school baseball town. Minny? Maybe for college or the state in general... they couldn't even keep the North Stars going. Detroit is a six-pack and power swim away from Canada, an original six team, and Michigan rivals Minnesota as a hockey state. I think hockeytown is warranted.

23 straight playoff appearances, four stanly cups, six conference championships, several hall of famers, and we make threads like this. I'm going to say no. I forgot: great ownership who spends to the cap, is building a new arena (with our help), and constantly has events showing fan appreciation.

Is that the one where he tries to jam the remote up his ass? Anyway... No. Red Wings fans don't "deserve" better. Do they have a right to be frustrated? Absolutely. But this is a sport. A hobby. Those millionaires owe us *nothing*. Don't like it? You, as a consumer, do not need to spend your money on their product. Some people, like myself, will continue to support the team both emotionally and monetarily because it is enjoyable (granted, not as enjoyable as when we're winning) to us. Others have every right to say they will not accept a sub par product and sod off to something else. But this sense of blatant entitlement is why other hockey fans can't stand the Wings and their fans.

Do Red Wings fans deserve better?

I know you are frustrated, but this is the type of thread that causes other fans to call Wings fans spoiled. The NHL is a league of parity, and we are going through a bad month. One bad month means nothing, just as one good month means nothing. At the end of the day what matters is where we finish, not how did we do in March. One thing that I think is hurting us is that our backs are not against the wall. We are in a position where we cant really get a higher seed as we are not catching Tampa, and we have had a decent lead on 7th which is fading, but still there and likely to stick. I have said this a million times, the Wings are going through a re-build. Tatar, Nquist, Sheahan, Jurco, Pulkkinen, Smith, DD, Mrazek, Marchenko, XO, Sproul, AA, Larkin, Mantha etc. the list of young talent is endless, to compare us to the Leafs, a team that hasn't won a cup since 1967, has made the playoffs once in 10 years, has not had stable leadership, has a horrible relationship with the media (though that seems more the media's fault), and lacks prospects is just ridiculous. Too many people seem to take things to extremes, when we are winning we are primed for the cup, and when we are losing we are absolute crap and need to get rid of everyone. We aren't either right now, we are exactly what I thought we were coming into the season, a team that falls between 3-6, and in today's NHL with parity the way it is, has a change, but is by no means the favourite. Not a bad place to be when you are on an up swing with a ton of up and coming talent. If you are expecting a cup this year, you are probably going to be disappointed. Of course we all hope this up swing of young talent peaks before D & Z really start to decline, but that's probably not going to happen....though one can hope Bottom line, you cant be elite every single year. We definitely don't "deserve" anything. We have had it better then every other fan-base in hockey since the early 90's.
