Not one person is saying Smith is a top pairing dman, but that is what you are arguing. Ericsson isn't a top pairing dman either, but he has been playing in that role all year long. Not one person said he should play with Kronwall because he is a top dman. He and Kronwall have played well together in the past. On more than one occasion.

Blashill's not a clone of Babcock. His teams can actually score at even strength.

Woah relax... Even tho Z is playing subpar his game is still 100% better than most of our forwards. Most of us are complaining about Z and comparing him to his own personal playoff standards, not the teams standards. Z is still doing better than most of the squad is. He's actually got the same amount of giveaways in this series as Datsyuk does.. Less giveaways in the season than most of our forwards including Datsyuk. Pav wearing the C, the refs would have a grand slam throwing us penalties when the dude theyre talking to cant effectively communicate in english to them. I understand you're unhappy with game 2 but dam gotta relax a bit there lol. This organization would never scratch their superstars. That's why its the Detroit Red Wings.

I just assume it was meant that the Wings aren't gonna beat Tampa trading chances, and that they need to slow the game down and be defensive solid to try and win a low scoring game.

Smith playing with Kronwall gives us 3 solid pairings instead of 2. Many of us feel that Smith with Kronwall and E with Zidlicky would be a much better option than Smith and Zidlicky as the third pairing. Nobody is saying Smith playing with Kronwall makes the #1 pairing better than it already is. But it doesn't make it much worse (if at all) either.

Just don't let him sit at the end of the bench.
