I would like us to trade for Big Buff at the deadline. We have a butt load of young NHL ready defensemen with no room. Pile them up for Buff and try to resign him. If we can't, we at least cleared some space and were a serious contender

I hear what you guys are saying. There's definitely a chicken egg factor and like I said, Kane probably is the best american forward. But I think strength of team is a factor and not just regarding linemates. It also affects matchups. If you're on a (relatively) one-trick pony team offensively, your opponent can match up their best shut down guys against you fairly regularly. Against a deeper team those matchups get spread thinner. Do you put your best guys against Toews line or Kanes?

Jurco is going into just his second full season, at the age of 22... Compare him to highly touted prospect, Pulkkinen, who is going into his first full season at the age of 23 (which is the norm in Detroit). Also Tatar and Nyquist are both going into just their third full seasons and are 24 and 25 respectively. Jurco will be fine, and he certainly isn't "running out of time"... His stick trick videos are cool and all, but that is far from his game. He is a very talented player that will work his way into a top six role within the next year or two.
