Wow, did not see this... Dan cleary part 2. I like the idea of Vancouver claiming him. Imagine how giddy mom Miller would be?

We got 8 seasons out of the guy and we got him for free. A less appreciated Holland move. Miller works his tail off, hard not to like the guy, just too much talent coming through the pipes to keep him up with the big club. Im sure this is devastating for him, this has been his home and team for almost a decade. I hope he gets claimed and stays in the NHL. Lots of Canucks fans hoping Benning scoops him up to play with Ryan. Im not opposed to that in the slightest.

    26th straight??

Hello fellow Red Wings fans, As a big hockey and Wings fan for the past 15 years, I'm curious if most of you fans think the playoff streak is important or if rebuilding to contend past the first round is more important, if that means missing a year or two of the post-season? This is my first post on this forum and I look forward to hearing from all of you expert hockey and die-hard Detroit fans. LGRW!!!!

Much respect to Miller, but it's definitely good that he's gone now. Good for Jurco that he was kept despite playing the least of our roster players. Hope he get some time over Ott or maybe Sheahan (though he's been better) this season. To dig up an old debate - remember when LGW was arguing Miller vs. Eaves? The debate was that many thought they were the same player and we should only keep one. Eaves has 17 goals (would lead our team by 5) and 29 pts. this year. Eaves has been hampered by injuries, but has done well for himself.

There he is, with a bit of sarcasm. We all know you're screaming "YESS FINALLY" inside. The really "Axed" Miller's NHL career didn't they Bill Berzeench?

Missing a year or two of the post-season won't make a difference. Not unless we got the #1 or 2 or 3 pick. And we're not getting those thanks to the Avs and Coyotes.

Agreed, also the waiver wire at least gives him a shot at keeping Miller in case we have injuries later. Trading him for a 7th means he is officially gone, though I dont think Kenny was getting any offers anyways.

The streak being important or not depends on who's perspective you are looking at it through. If you look at it through Dickie's perspective, clearly he couldn't care less, if you are looking at it through Mike Ilitch's perspective, I believe its very important. If you ask the DRW marketing team, I think they would tell you it is very very important. I agree with CRL that the tanking community will make you believe that the only way to become a contender is to end the streak, however I do not believe that to be the case. NYR, SJ, Boston etc. have show that you don't need to "scorch earth" to become a contender again. With that being said, if the Wings dont make it and get a top 5 pick I wont be pissed. But if they dont make it and get the 14th pick in instead of the 15th pick in a weak draft class, that would completely suck.

Considering the Wings picked Drew off the waiver wire years ago, it was a pretty good pickup, IMHO. No way Ken would have gotten anything for him in trade though. Rival GM's seem to have played more hard ball with Kenny than other GM's I think, because they don't want to be the one that sets the Wings up for another huge playoff streak (or extend the current one). We can thank Drew for his service, but to throw Kenny under the bus for not getting return on him is, IMHO, quite misguided. If he gets picked up, good for him, and best of luck against the other 28 teams he faces. If not, he can help to develop the next generation of PK stalwarts in Grand Rapids.

Making the playoffs is the literal goal of the regular season. That is our goal right now. If you want to call that keeping the streak alive ok. I am for keeping the streak alive. The tanking community will have you believe that the only way to win another cup is to end the streak. That is not the case.

Lol no. We would not have gotten a 7th rounder for Miller.

He never should have Been brought back to begin with , couldn't we have got a 7th rounder ? Surely a cup contender will claim him for depth makes me wonder if Kenny is just addicted to the waiver wire to see if his guys go unclaimed

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Remember how bad our PK was when he was gone last year?

Cannot stress enough how much better the 4th line looks and the team in general. Helm for Miller = huge upgrade Kronwall for Marchenko = huge upgrade If only we could swap Jurco in for Sheahan and Sproul in for Ericsson...

Coreau! Nice counter attack to boot! (I've resorted to stream the game during the weather alert, tornado-like activity in the area if you're interested)

Coreau is rock solid this season and one of our more positive surprises. In fact he did make a strong case for being the starter over Mrazek. While you can blame Blashill for many mistakes this isn't one. Stay save !

Oh no! My local NBC station is cutting out for weather alerts. How can my physical safety POSSIBLY be more important than keeping up with the Wings?

lol....never going to happen. Not even a cup win in 2008 could accomplish that.

Hahahah I'm calling bs. If you want them to tank and want high draft picks you are definitely not happy if they win and make the playoffs. You would rather the team FAIL this year. If you are actually happy if they win but would rather them get high picks, then you're confused in your desires, and that's ok. At the very least people should own up to it and admit it. Don't say thing like "oh well when I'm watching I want them to win but... but I want our future to be good and the only way is high draft". At least Leafs fans owned up to tanking last year and openly admitted they'd rather keep losing games. Hell some would even get pissed if they won. Lots of #Mathews hashtags were thrown about by Leafs fans around this time last year. Go look it up

    Top Scorers

I've been saying that for years. Big goalies with big equipment and great fundamentals have made the game a lot more boring. So have better defensive systems. There's not a lot of 40 goal scorers and even fewer 50 goal scorers and 100 point scorers. It has made things less enjoyable. This, along with the lack of fighting and old fashioned rivalries is hurting the game. I guess if you enjoy watching 6'6 goalies wearing giant pads and stopping everything except deflections, screened shots and breakaways, then this is the golden age of hockey for you. Otherwise, if you grew up watching hockey in the early 90's, this is excruciating.
