In his defence, he was right that he wasn't getting enough icetime since his production blew up as soon as he was traded. The knights even scratched him for those few playoff games, so I can understand him feeling that he was buried in the depth chart with the Knights and wanting to go somewhere else where he could develop his game. I think it would be rare to find drafted OHL players getting scratched in the playoffs - I mean those are the cream of the crop. And the team claiming he was sick rather than scratched seems weird. Maybe they were protecting him from questioning, but it could also be protecting themselves from scrutiny. Anyway, I would hesitate to use this as a previous example of him being difficult. London's coach, Dale Hunter does have a reputation of not getting along with some people. Ask Washington in his one year coaching there, he was also fined for abusing an official off-ice as London's coach and was fined for falsely claiming other coaches ordered their player to injure Max Domi as well as other fines. His character to me is questionable and I wouldn't trust his characterization in this article. -

We can talk about UFA's...... But why do that to ourselves? We have no cap space. We can't even sign our own RFA's.... Next year we need to resign Mantha and Larkin and AA isn't signed yet. Then there is Mrazek, Sheahan, etc..... -

1 pointBuyout is a different story, buyout and waivers are not the same thing. If you really want to get rid of E, my opinion is that the best method would be to trade him with an asset and/or retain some salary.

Or the FML... depending on the game -
1 pointSorry man, but two thirds of your post is wrong. 1) If we waive E, we still are on the hook for his caphit. Not "easy" like you claim. All waiving him does is free up a roster spot, which sure can be done, but would have nothing to do with cap like you are saying. 2) Booth has a 2-way contract, and is not blocking anybody. If he gets sent down, his contract has no effect on the cap. He is a guy who is paid to sit in the press box or play 4th line when we have injuries to other's. When Bertuzzi gets healthy I would imagine he takes Booth's spot on the 4th with Witkowski in the press box. Speaking of, Witkowski does count against the cap, and to be honest I really didnt love that signing. Wont argue you on this one.

10/7 GDT: Red Wings 2, Ottawa Senators 1 (SO)
Rick D reacted to Wheelchairsuperhero for a post in a topic
I haven't seen anyone mention this, but boy does Nyquist look ineffective to me right now. He has zero ability to forecheck and seems to fall over in the offensive zone once a shift. The real highlight though, this Ovie guy. What a monster. -
1 pointhttp://mynhltraderumors.com/nhl-rumors-red-wings-andreas-anthanasiou-canucks-golden-knights-toronto-maple-leafs/2017/10/07/ Craig Custance of The Athletic: Both Andreas Athanasiou and the Detroit Red Wings are dug in and not moving from their offers/asking price. The more time Athanasiou misses, the harder it may be for him to catch up. There may be more to their negotiations than just money, “whether it be playing time or treatment by coaches.” The Red Wings aren’t actively shopping Athanasiou, but multiple sources are saying that they are listening. Teams are calling the Red Wings to see how interested they would be in trading him. The return would have to be for a player of similar age and upside, and not for a draft pick or someone in their late 20’s. One GM said the asking price was a young, top-four defenseman or a young center.

1 pointI like Ozzie's post-game take on that sequence. Basically, if you're in Ericsson's position there, you do anything but what Ericsson did. Maybe you eat the puck along the boards. Maybe you deliberately ice the puck. You have some room to skate, so, at the very least, you should take a couple more steps forward before you act. Don't just throw that pass straight out of the corner. Not with two minutes left in a lock-down situation, with the opponent in wounded animal mode. You learn this stuff in peewee. It's basic. Granted, it isn't entirely on Ericsson. Maybe Helm (?) could've done a better job of getting open, or maybe Helm (?) could've shouted to Ericsson to not force that pass. And it was definitely a fluky goal. But even so, Blashill should know better by now. Putting Ericsson out with two minutes left when we're trying to hold on to a lead is asking for trouble. Hell, we KNOW Blashill knows better, because Ericsson got very little icetime in Thursday's game, only playing about two and a half minutes in the third period of that game. Blashill himself is souring on Ericsson. That's the only positive I take out of giving up that goal -- that maybe it cements Ericsson as a liability in Blashill's mind. As for Howard, he's absolutely the reason we're not 0-2 right now. Probably can't keep this up, but we don't really know. His recent injury history makes it difficult to assess how good he really is at this stage in his career. I mean, he's clearly really good, but can he sustain that level of play over, say, 50 starts?

1 pointyea im done with ericsson. hes solely responsible for the sens goal. couldve easily cleared the zone gave it right to him howard isnt going to be able to keep this up all season

1 pointSadly AA got f***ed by his agent. 23 year old moron that listened to some dude in a suit that has a track record for causing drama. Millennials tend to be so stupid in their decision making process, it's as though someone else needs to grow their balls for them.
-
1 pointSure does. Tends to even out over a season though, and it's the long term result that matters anyhow. As long as we either totally suck or make the playoffs I'm all good. No just outside stuff. Either truly enjoy April or get a shot at Dahlin.
-
1 pointI think the Sheahan line only got just over 10 minutes of ice time. Blashill was really leaning on the Larkin line late in the game and it produced a goal. That’s something we wouldn’t have seen last year

Whatever it is, he f***ed up. Because he's a 23 year old moron with poor decision making skills. If he's lucky he'll end up in Swiss making more money but hampering his own development (sucks he's not getting any younger and a few years from hitting his prime). If he's really lucky he signs with the Wings or gets traded to another NHL team and reaches full potential. I'm very passionate about fellow millennials not making other millennials look like idiots.
