    Even I can't defend his recent play in Philly after his great start there. He has the perfect chance. Change of scenery, the chance to start all the games he can get in front of a better team, but he's slipped right back into play very reminiscent of last season. Either very good or very bad. He may have just lost the starting job to Lyon, the kid who he was brought in to handle the load for. Lyon just won 4-2 against the Canes tonight. No excuses for Mrazek anymore. Elliott still isn't due back for a bit, but if the Flyers make the playoffs, I think the Wings can kiss anything more than that one third rounder goodbye, because unless Mrazek gets his s*** together real quick, he won't be playing any playoff games with Elliott available. He might not even be on the bench. And if that happens, kiss the extra third for re-signing him goodbye too, although that was a long shot unless he kept that streak of great games going. Really hoped he finally got his s*** together, especially after continuing his great play when he got to Philly. Not sure what'll become of him July 1, but if he does find a team, he's not getting paid much barring a turnaround. And he better do it now. Sad stuff. So much potential but zero consistency. Smarten up.

    I say, if we don't get a top 4, go with Bouchard.

    Let's be fair: Mantha, Larkin, Svechnikov, Cholowski, Rasmussen isn't a group that screams "We're gonna use our first pick on an undersized defenseman who's playing at Michigan, because of course we are." I'm guessing Tkachuk and Boqvist are ahead of Hughes on our preferences chart. Possibly also Zadina, Bouchard, Dobson, et al. I'm sure The Powers That Be have done their homework and know what's at stake. Draper has said this organization needs to hit some home runs in the drafting department.

    That's why he's a career AHL goalie.

    I'd be surprised if the Flyers don't make the playoffs. They have a 6 point cushion right now, granted the Panthers have 3 games in hand. But still, that's a lot of points to make up with only 10 / 13 games remaining. Mrazek has been bad. There's no question about that. I do think he'll get at least another couple starts this season though (depending how he plays in those games). They have one back-to-back today, in which he's expected to start, and one more on the 27th / 28th. I'd be shocked to see Lyon run the last 10 games straight. Mrazek will get one more win. I think he'll play that game against us on Tuesday. It would be pretty cool if he gets it in that game. I still think that 4th will turn into a 3rd. But unfortunately, that's probably all we'll get in this trade...

    Howard = Average

    It's always a possibility he could come back. I agree he'll never win a Cup as a starter. He's not a big game guy. Only been to the second round twice in his career, and that's when the Wings were still a contender somewhat. He'd have to play for an absolute powerhouse that just needs him to make stops, not steal games. And those situations don't exist anymore, havent for a long time. But even as a backup, it still beats futility with a team that has no chance of winning anytime soon. Things could turn around faster in the process of rejoining the contenders if things fall into place, absolutely. But winning a Cup is years away IMO. Howard will be long gone.

    Sure. I could "handle" a few of those guys as well. I'd be okay with trading Howard or letting him walk, but I don't think it's a must like you suggest. Varlamov or Talbot would be decent replacements and would provide much of the same, but neither are going to be significantly better for this team, or come here for cheaper. They may even be a little worse and / or cost a little more. I'm not saying we must re-sign Jimmy, just that letting him go isn't a must either. Let's see who actually is available and weigh or options when the time comes. A lot can happen in a year and a half.

    Devellano needs to call out Mantha for his pathetic showing against Kesler of all people. He should have thrown Kesler around like a rag doll. Instead, he acted like he was fighting against Joe Kocur.

    Keep the tank full speed ahead boys!! Call up Kaden Fulcher to start the rest of the games. Actually, no. He might win a few.

    Bad Fans?

    As others already stated: Not bad fans, it's the system that is bad. I remember a Sabres Game a few years back where Sabres fans literally cheered for the other team, because a loss would draw them closer to a No. 1 pick. It's a ridiculous league that evokes such behavior in fans.

    I hope they lose every game until the end of the season and all those other teams that are competing with us for the #1, win their games.

    Bad Fans?

    You’re not a bad fan. You’re a TRUE and SELFLESS fan. You’re willing to let your entertainment be sacrficed for the sake of this teams future. You’re willing to accept the reality that they need to lose for the long run and you’re still here posting and a part of the fandom. You have me praise. We got this.

    I hear ya man. I'm in the same boat. I still don't miss a game. Like you, I honestly don't remember the last time I've missed a game. 5+ years for sure. But rooting for losses just feels dirty. My mindset during games is for the kids (Larkin, Mantha, Athanasiou, Bertuzzi, Svechnikov) to do well, and the vets (aside from Zetterberg) to do poorly, as stupid as that may sound... I hope we lose 4-3 / 5-4 every game, with the kids getting all the goals... I agree with this. I'd like to see a system implemented in which teams benefit from winning, not losing. How that would work, I have no idea... Maybe the team with the best record post trade deadline that misses the playoffs gets the first overall pick, and so on. No more draft lottery. It would definitely prevent teams from tanking and trading off a bunch of players every trade deadline. It would make the trade deadline a lot less interesting and free agency a lot more interesting. Teams would probably wait until after the season to trade off any players, and any players that were traded at the deadline would probably cost double. Either way, I hate rooting for losses...

    Agreed. I am not saying Holland is perfect, but a lot of this teams downfall was due to him having to trade away prospects and picks in order to sustain the playoff streak even while the team was already in decline. Even the worst GM understands that that is the time to start trading away vets and acquiring assets to rebuild. If he wasn't put into the position he was in, I believe he would have done things differently, but we'll never know. Holland is not as dumb as some make him out to be. I think he completely understood what the later ramifications of those trades and signings would be. I just think that the powers that be made the streak the focus, and Holland had to fall in line. Now that the team seems to be focusing on a rebuild, I would like to see what he can do, albeit on a short leash.

    Why are people upset? These losses are good. We’re officially picking #5. Just last week we were picking #8 or something. These games are bringing me nothing but joy. Odds at Dahllin is literally increasing with each game. With Vancouvers next win; were upto #4. 7 points out of being #1 overall. Closest tank in years. The battle of the bottom feeders is intense this year.
