I think he's a pretty league average goalie who's overpaid for what he provides. I think that's a pretty fair assessment of him. However, if you spend enough time with Leftwinger, he'll have you believe the man is utter trash on one of the worst contracts ever and he'll rage on and on and on about it beating the dead horse into glue. It's annoying, and IMO a pretty unfair and overly-biased view of Howard. So I find myself constantly stepping-in to zealously defend Howard, even though he's far from my favorite player on the team. If the pendulum swings too far one way, it's bound to swing back too far the other way... Lefty, if you're reading this. I feel the feel the exact same way about Franzen. I didn't actually give two craps about Franzen more than any other player on those teams. But the constant and endless over-the-top Franzen bashing that went on from 2011 to 2014, where every single conversation somehow devolved into Franzen is lazy, sucks, is on the worst contract ever, and Hossa is better, was so beyond annoying that, yes, I decided to go to war with you and others (you're not soley to blame for that one, it was site wide) about it. I hope that puts my reaction and POV into better context. I don't care about the opinion so much as I do the endless tirade of bashing one single player. You hate Howard, we get it, let's move on or at least post something constructive about the situation. I definitely like what I've seen of Wahlstrom in the brief time I've been watching him play at the U18's. He's got that effortless looking one time release from the top of the circle/face off dot area which seems pretty rare.

Just Suter would have been fine, a #1 D-man is a necessity now a days. Both as a package is what screwed Minny.

One could argue that you could criticize Fletcher. Those two wanted to go to Minny, yet were still given ridiculous contracts. I feel a better GM could have still landed them at a lower cost.

I'd take Wahlstrom or trade back and take Wilde. If I draft offense early I take defense with Vegas' pick and vice versa.

Green is coming off of a season ending neck injury. He and his wife just had a baby and he wants to say in Detroit. Holland has all of the leverage here. If he can't sign Green to a 2 x 5 deal or better w/o a full NTC in the 2nd year, that would be a serious failure on his part.

Fletcher really had nothing to do with that. Suter is whipped and Parise is a Mommas's boy. That's why they signed there. All Fletcher had to do was hand them a pen.

re-signing Green to a 1 year deal would help in two ways, he was one of our best D-men, plus the trade that hopefully would happen this time at the TDL. TD is tradable as well this TDL, although he can control where he goes. (15 team No-trade list) Add them along with Howard and Nyquist, they could net us a couple extra 2nds and 3rds maybe. Of course with what Holland fleeced Vegas for, who flippin knows what we could acquire. Couple all that with our drafting of Dahlin (or other high end D man in the top 8) and Kronwall retiring, 2019 Camp is shaping up to be a great competition for available spots!

Their goaltending is terrible and always has been since Hextall retired. They had Bobrovsky but let him go (though he's not a playoff performer either). Also, that SOB Gudas needs to be let go. He's either a mole for the Penguins or is just a terrible defenseman.
