The thing is, it wouldn't work. Because teams in the 9-16 range can get bounced in that first round. If a team is in the playoffs, even if it's a one game showdown, there should absolutely not be a draft lottery position for them. The current system is a sham as is, and this would make it even more of a joke.

I agree that this is probably the case, which is ******* gross. The team 9th overall can get bounced in the best of 5 round and win the ******* lottery. Speaking of which, Edmonton is 9th because of course. s*** or get off the pot, BoG.

Everywhere you go there's folks like you and me. I don't post there but I've seen Zadina doubters on reddit, HFboards, twitter, you name it. And it looks to me like that doubt is creeping in and slowly beginning to wear down the average fans confidence in him. The smoke is there, and folks are starting to internalize that there might also be a fire. Keep chipping and the false pedestal that Zadina sits upon will eventually crumble. $5 says a significant number of the BoG want the 24 team playoff format PLUS some form of consolation for the teams who exit the playoffs early - as in a spot in the draft lottery. As you can imagine the 7 non-playoff teams probably want this done sooner than later, and would prefer to keep it at 7. More news at 10 Ken!

Nyquist, Tatar, and Hudler were all 5-9 to 5-10 and played even smaller IMO. They werent floaters necessarily, but they also weren't really aggressive, go in and get the puck type guys. The were like flies when they did have the puck, buzzing around, trying to weave in and out of traffic. They were also more dependant on others for offense. Zadina doesn't play like that. He isn't much bigger per se, 6-0, but he doesn't seem "small" on the puck. He seems more aggressive to me. He creates more offense for himself than the others did. I think his shot is better, and I think he is a better finisher. I've said before that I would compare Zadina's style of play to a different former Wing: Marion Hossa. Now Hossa was a better player, and I don't think Zadina reaches that level, but I do see him as a lesser Hossa.

People were saying that it was unrealistic to expect any big announcements today and that Tuesday (tomorrow) would probably be the day for a news drop. So maybe we'll get some closure tomorrow, or at least a solid update.

Your entire argument has been based on what an 18, 19 and now 20 year old is now, and not what he is likely to develop into. His numbers early on have been impressive, and he has been and will continue to improve in all areas of the game. I'm done with this argument now. I still maintain if they go with a 7 team lottery, it is unfair for a team to fall 3 spots. IMO The most a team can fall is 1 and the most a team can climb is 4. So again, that would put Detroit at #1 if teams 6 or 7 get picked. There is no other way to do it. Ottawa can only fall to 3 & 4, Detroit can only fall to 2. ANY team 1-5 can win. This is when Bettman should tell them to shove it. I am very interested in seeing a 24 team playoff though! Would it still be 4 rounds? Would it take more than 16 wins for The Cup? I wonder how that would work, would certain teams get a bye in the first Round Robin. 24 teams - 12 teams - 6 - 3?

Disagree totally. The only 2 I can think of that I believe have used coke are Probert and McCarty. Disagree. Never been around anyone who does drugs. At all. Including marijuana. Have an in law that has a drug past, but keep my distance. Only have one smoker that I would consider a friend. People can do what they want, but anyone who indulges in illegal substances just isn't someone I want anything to do with. Getting caught shouldnt be their concern. The fact that its banned, illegal, unsportsmanlike, dishonorable, and unhealthy should be enough to prevent any player from touching the stuff. As per usual.

You're not wrong But among rich young adults I'd say cocaine is a lot more common than a lot of folks realize, or are at least willing to admit. It's like what weed is to not-so-rich young adults. Even if you don't do it yourself, you're still gonna run into a lot of folks who do. Don't mean to normalize it, but I think it's kinda the ugly truth. Also cocaine leaves ur system super fast, especially if you're in great shape like young athletes are. I imagine that's why most aren't that concerned about getting caught by the league. I don't really care personally if that's what he wants to do. As long as he's smart about it and saves it for a weekend here or there and doesn't get his dumb ass caught. But yeah, I'd definitely prefer he NOT do it. And if he wants to be captain he probably shouldn't being doing it. But I'm aslo saying there's probably more Red Wings on this team who have done coke at some point than those who haven't.
