"I think quite frankly when I look at this deal, I think it’s a fair and reasonable deal for both sides. If Petr performs, we pay more, Detroit gets more. If he doesn’t, they still get paid and it costs us a certain amount, but it’s not overpaid. If we do have success and we pay, then that’s good. amato 3,143 Report post Posted February 20, 2018 Probably irrelevant question: McKenzie says if they make the “CF” the 2018 pick could become a 2nd.... does he mean conference final or cup final? Would think he’d just say “finals” if it were cup final but ya never know.

LeftWinger 4,555 Report post Posted February 20, 2018 Hell that should've been in there! If they win the Cup it becomes a 1st in 2018 (they have 2 of them) and a 2nd in 2019. Not saying Holland got fleeced, he did very good, but what is one more condition between friends?
LeftWinger 4,555 Report post Posted February 20, 2018 I bet you they bring up McCollum to back up Jimmy. Coreau is too important to the Griffins right now. They have a Cup to defend!

Ram 240 Report post Posted February 20, 2018 Fine with this. Decent enough haul for a guy that was never gonna be here much longer after they didn't protect him in expansion. Good luck to him and let's keep the rebuild going.

That is called bad asset management. ??? Holland really had no intention of re-signing Mrazek this summer - especially at $4 plus million which I'm sure Mrazek wants. He was given ample opportunity to become the #1 netminder, and couldn't do so. Moving him for draft pick/s is one of a very few ways to make the best of this situation. I've been critical of Holland, but like the Brendan Smith deal to the NYR - I applaud this move by Holland since both other Philly goalies are on IR for the next 4 to 6 weeks which gives Mrazek ample opportunity to shine, and garner the Wings a boost into the 2nd round pick, and an additional 3rd rounder as well. 1 kickazz reacted to this
13dangledangle 896 Report post Posted February 20, 2018 I like this move too. We obviously weren't going forward with Petr as our guy so why let him walk for nothing? Keep it rolling Holland 1 F.Michael reacted to this

Philly is just a few pts away from either keeping their playoff spot, or potentially sliding down to 9th/10th in the Eastern Conference. They are desperate to stay in the top 8 - Mrazek will be given the chance to earn the adoration of Philly fans. Anyone know if Petr will be in net tonight against the Habs? That is called bad asset management. Im with you. It would be one thing if we were loaded with talent and shipping guys out because we couldnt find a spot for them. But that's not the case. The Wings are starving for talent and failing to develop their draft picks into a successful team. Kindl, Quincy, Smith, Sheahan, Jarnkrok, Janmark, Frk, Jurco, Pulkkinen, Mrazek, etc etc etc. At some point in time, the GM has to be held accountable. The biggest problem I have right now is Holland not recognizing what is going to come out of the third round = CRAP. We need picks in the top 15.

They gave up very little to acquire a goaltender with a lot of untapped potential. If Mrazek pans out, great for them. If he doesn't, no big loss.

You definitely got my point but decided to pretend you had no ideas what I'm talking about Nope, there were many aspects of your post that I didnt get. "Another glory day for the brand new Red Wings! First treating Mrazek like s*** by exposing him to the waiversand then trading him for nothing while also retaining salary... And all these having no goalies in the pipeline. Well done!!! For the Flyers it has all the potential to be "reserve" Bob trade." Wasnt sure why you mentioned waivers, didnt get why you cared about retaining salary for the next 3 months, not sure what a "reserve bob trade" means
