They might be doing this if they were both free agents and wanted to get the best deal to play together on the same team. I really don't like everyone attacking these players character because we're in day 3 of the UFA period and they haven't signed yet. These talented players, who are interested in joining our team and possibly wearing the winged wheel for the next decade, need some time to think about what is the biggest decision of their professional career. It shouldn't be taken lightly and they need to take everything into account. If they choose us, great. If not, oh well, good luck to them wherever they go. Being pissed at a couple of players that COULD still be Red Wings because they need a little extra time to decide where they want to play is ignorant. We're Red Wings fans, let's act like the franchise and show some class and patience.

I should've instituted an IQ test in order to allow you to post.

Alas the golden era of Wings comedy was always fated to pass. sic transit gloria mundi

Does this mean an offer sheet is being drawn up for Weber?

Sometimes you have to overpay to get the right players at the right time. With the weak free agents the last couple years their salary is going to be inflated. The salary cap has been consistently going up... what might be overpaying this year may be a bargain down the road it's just the economy of the NHL these days. You can't relate a contract signed 5 years ago to a contract signed this year and expect to have the same value.

I haven't watched a TON of Parise, but from what I saw he looked very good but not worth $7-8 million good. I'd rather get Doan for $4.5 and then roll out what we have and wait for the deadline.

Why are they obligated to decide right on July 1st? Because we are anxious as fans? Besides, they had no certainty where the offers would come from until two days ago. Both guys are nothing but professional on and off the ice by all accounts. I think it's absurd how mad people are getting that they haven't made one of the biggest choices in their lives on a whim.

We're getting a little arrogant here, in my opinion. The guy's making a huge decision and taking a few days to do it. A lot of the fans here are coming off like spoiled brats. "The how dare he take some time to decide, we're the Red Wings" attitude is unbecoming.

Trade for Yandle! Get it done Kenny!

Who cares where either of them are from? They want to get paid. They're allowed to do that. Get over it.

Congrats to the wild, no ill feelings for both all the best. For us: stay pat and push it to the max for Getzlaf and Weber next year and stay the damn away from Carle and Seminn. Btw: Kenny did what he could and people want him faired? Grow a pair seriously Congatulation to everyone who called this

Give Holland his due! On one hand he did what he could & made a responsible pitch to the right guy. On the other hand the Red Wings are not as attractive to players as they used to be IN LARGE PART because he FAILED to begin reshaping the team three YEARS ago; & that IS his fault & is the beginning of the end for him and his reputation as a premier GM. Now, lets see if he can compensate and begin to repair HIS mistakes in a meaningful way.

    yandle and doan or bust

Hope Holland doesnt panic and sign Carle to a horrible contract now. From Nashville to Minnesota..have fun being mediocre for the rest of your career Ryan.

This may be the most sensible reaction to date. Thanks for the perspective.

Ssshhhhh, you saw what happened with sarcastic remarks about Sammy. It's like saying Beetlejuice 3x.

I would much rather overpay Suter with a 7.5 mil cap than not get him at all.

So over it by now!!!! If you want to sign with the Wild then do it. Get it over with so the other 29 teams in the NHL can get to work. I don't ever recall a free agent taking their sweet ass pimp time like this, not like this got sprung on ya all of the sudden

exactly! oh think of the hitting!! Him and Tootoo would lay on others, with the subtraction of Hudler, entrance of Sammy again, and a full time Smith, really would make our team much more physical.

As long as we get Suter... I could care less where Parise goes. We Need Suter and that is the most important thing.

Wow people are still getting angry at players for taking their time? How would you feel if you have 25 job offers with some exceptional ones? Personally I would take all my time to ask my wife, family, friends and agents about the pro/cons of either city, the team, coach and trying to phone a couple of players how it is to play for my destinated team and then go through the list. Let them take their time, I am almost everyone of us would do the same.

Here is the reason why Parise and Suter should sign with the Wings....and why the likes of Nash, Ryan, Semin will also love to be here: and here is why they should not want to sign in Pit:

For someone who isn't a good hockey player, he had more points last season than in any season Eaves has had in the past five years. Tootoo isn't a goon. He can actually play hockey. Everyone ******* about not having a fighter or toughness on this team and we get a guy who is the epitome of that and people ***** because he isn't their favorite knuckle dragger. Get over it. He makes this team better and harder to play against.
