Hey guys, I just logged in on reddit only to see Petr Mrazek doing an AmA. An AmA is called "Ask me anything", it's a subreddit for people to ask questions, and they are answered by people in the field, or someone who has done it. You can request people, or they can do it on their own. Anyways, you can register an account and ask away, he'll be answering questions from 12pm-1pm http://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/19br42/i_am_petr_mrazek_a_pro_hockey_goalie_who_has/

If only another Oiler had been there to provide a little "subtle interference" so Carcillo couldn't have taken that run at Yakupov...

God I really miss when ESPN had the NHL broadcasting rights. I HATE Mike "DRIVE" Emrick and Ed Olczyk with a passion. I want Gary Thorne and Bill Clemente back.

Man I really hope the Wings destroy them on the 3rd. I want to hear Mr Ed the jackass cry.

In case anyone missed it, Ed Oczyk proved his idiocy in fine fashion during the Oilers/Hawks game... The author of the article wraps it up nicely. Click on the link to read the rest of the article.

For a real good laugh go read pretty much anything posted in the general hockey discussion area. I've seen some of the stupidest comments in my entire hockey following life posted there. And Brunner isn't a liability on defense. A liability is someone like Patrick Kane who sees the puck in his own end, the other team possessing it in good position, and decides to just skate away from Pavel Datsyuk for a hypothetical breakout pass. Or Ilya Kovalchuk when he would just do figure eights by the blue line/neutral zone looking for a pass for a breakaway or odd man rush. Brunner backchecks and actually tries. He's not making the best reads compared to the rest of our team (still by far the best group of defensive forwards in the game) but he's back there trying and I've seen a few good plays from him.

Didn't Fedorov used to do that all the time? I remember Stevie Y injuring a certain Chrissy Pronger that way too. To me that's the risk you run when you go to run someone. Can't tell someone not to dodge a hit if they can.

This is a fantastic deal for Detroit. Locking him in for 3 years at $725,000 per is a bargain. He's slipped in and quietly proved he can be a Brad Stuart type of player for the Wings. Not many defensemen walk in on their first call-up and average 18:54 each night as a top 4 d-man. Just look at where Lashoff's managed to fit in among the defense... His stats after 15 games, ranked against the other Wings defensemen: 1g 2a 3pts (4th) 2:56 SH TOI/G (3rd) 18:54 TOI/G (4th) 21 Blocked Shots (3rd) 23 Hits (1st) 4 PIM (5th, and pretty impressive given how physical he is and that he's a rookie) -4 +/- (worst-- tied with Kronwall) He's managed to completely outplay Quincey as a rookie with no previous call-up experience.

The problem is the "non-reviewable" part. If it's non-reviewable, it's probably non-challengable, in which case all of the stupid goals that we've screeched ourselves into laryngitis over are still going to be waived off. Intent to blow is the big one. How are they supposed to challenge his intent? -Didn't mean to! -Did so! -Did not! -Did too! Now if they come up with a challenge where the ref has to state the reason for which he intended to blow the whistle, and then that action becomes challengable, then we might be talking.

This. I don't get it either, he works his a** off every shift he is on the ice, and he puts pucks in the net, some people are never happy though

He's been in North America just over a month and a half. He's the leading scorer on the Wings. He's adapted to the North American game amid a frantic condensed season without the luxury of a full training camp. These are great achievements that most have said exceed expectations. I think it's unrealistic to expect that his game would be fully rounded amid these factors. At least give him time. Oh, and don't understand how you could perceive him as not working hard for the team.

    Gus Nyquist...

For me Nyquist just hasn't passed the eye test. Tatar has.

    Gus Nyquist...

I would like to see Nyquist produce even half of what he does in the AHL in the NHL. Tatar and Andersson have done way more than Nyquist in a lot less time.

    Kings trade Gagne to PHI

Holland might well be doing stuff like this in the near future, but I'm pretty glad he didn't this time. Gagne has lost his legs and his game if a shadow of it's former self.

Moving east would be one of the best things that could happen to the Redwings, unless you thing they like all of those west coast trips, and 10:30 pm playoff games. Many of you talk about how the Redwings will lose many of their rivalries, but just keep in mind that none of those even hold a candle to the one they had with Toronto back in the day. Not playing Chicago and St. Louis as much would be the only negative. I won't miss San Jose, Anaslime, or Colorado. I don't see how anyone can be against the Wings being reunited with two traditional rivals in Toronto and Montreal and not having to worry about all of those west coast trips every year. I suspect it's for selfish reasons.

Yoda's quite small. He'd look odd with a buffalosaber. Oh, wait... Judge him by his size, did I? Hmm?

Bryz's new mask - cool Star Wars theme.

Thank heavens. I thought I was seeing things when I saw that light saber. However, since others have pointed it out, I know that I am the sane one. Thank heavens Ryan Miller doesn't have one. Aside from EvilYoda! dabbling in the Dark Side, I have to say that it's pretty cool, but then I'm a Star Wars geek.

It was awesome, until I saw Yoda with a red (or possibly Flyers' Orange) lightsaber. The Force is mild with this one. Not weak, but not strong either...

http://www.mynhltraderumors.com/tag/boston-bruins/ Just look down the page. Lots of rumors saying the B's are seeking a forward. So, to be fair, there are sources for this. Besides, it could probably be said every team in the NHL would like another scoring forward. I can't think of a good, two-way scorer I wouldn't take in a heartbeat for the right price. Having said that, I think adding without subtracting too much is important. Boston's pick won't be good enough to justify getting rid of Franzen. There's no guarentee that whoever that pick turns into will hustle more and play better defense than Franzen, anyways. This is a seller's move and would tell me that the team has thrown in the towel. With two big wins and big games coming this week in Cali, we can ill-afford to start talking like the season is over. We're currently in a playoff spot and are slowly getting healthy again. I say stay the course and look to add some more scoring depth and help on defense at and before the deadline. Time to bring in some new faces. Too many deadlines have come and gone with little-or-no improvement.

It shouldn't have to be a huge novelty like it is when Cleary actually has a couple good games, but it really is. I truly hope he is not re-signed this summer. 4 points in 19 games doesn't mean "Cleary's back", it simply means he had a multiple point game to double his season total while playing 20 mins a night in the top 6 with Dats. Not sold on him.

He's doing a fine job and having him with Ericsson has been a decent top pairing for this season. He may not be a PP quarterback like Lids but I've noticed he's able to get shots through for rebounds that often lead to goals.
