I'm ready to let the next gen take over. The Wings' defense has a lot of potential, and they've been groomed for this year for a while. Lets see what they can do behind the wheel.

Hi- I come here as friend not foe and I don't intend to stir the pot but just to add my opinion. Firstly- I am a Sens fan but secondly and maybe more importantly I am an Alfie fan. I'm not sure where I stand on all the off season shenangians but you have got yourself a great player- he smart and makes players around him better. I have always considered the Western conference to be superior to the East in terms of skill and I think you guys may be selling yourselves a little short. I think you guys are going to skate circles around the East and cause teams fits for a couple of seasons- until you either devolve or they pick it up. I watched every game of your playoff series last season against the Hawks and the pace of the game was far and beyond anything I saw in the East. You can't hit what you can't catch. I pick Detroit to be in the Final with maybe Piitsburgh...but Detroit will be there- changing of the guard and injuries and you're still scary. Yeah Ottawa may talk a good game but who knows what team will show up-really. Toronto is a two trick pony, Montreal all emotion and Subban is so readable,and Boston has lost a step. I see good things for Detroits immediate future.

From the article. So he's not a goal scorer. He's a hockey player. I'd rather have a guy who's just as happy to set someone else up as he is to score. Just so long as the puck goes in the net, I don't care whose stick it hits first.

Just started season 3, finally gave in and yes, it's awesome. Season 1 and the first few of season 2 is a bit uneven, and then suddenly the show hits it's stride. St. Michael... Did you find where to watch?

Don't know about the generic goal song but I like the player goal songs depending on who scored.

Its one thing to make it to the top level and another thing to stay there. It's also totally unbeknownst to the fans who has a good "work ethic" and who doesn't. Fans don't always know who is battling injuries or what's going on in a particular players life. I mean, does Henrik Zetterberg have a good or bad work ethic? He goes through numerous goalless streaks and times where he's totally invisible and other times where he looks like the vest player in the world. Sergei Fedorov had similar issues. At times he was spectacular, at other times, barely noticeable. Is it lack of effort or just not possible to keep up that level of play physically and mentally over 82+ games?

Is it just me or do all of these "new" sweaters just look the same? It's like teams that want to sell more merch just make an extremely stripped-down version of their old design to lower the material and production costs and... oh wait...

Why is everybody getting their panties in a ruff? It's nothing we don't already know. The guy is what he is, does what he does, and gets paid what he gets paid. He's not first and foremost a goal scorer. . Too bad, so sad. Not a news flash. He's an asset and a good value.

Either you develop players or you try to keep overpaying for vets and eventually end up with a crap team full of vets you can't move. It's time to let the players grow into top 4 roles. Between Smith Kindl and Dekeyser the 2nd pair will be fine.

I truly feel that the only reason our D did so well is because our forwards play both ways so well. Yes we need a first line D-man to win the cup

Better. Now they just need new home ones- the less elfin, the better. The red and green in the logo is fine, but there needs to be less red in the rest of the uni or the whole thing looks like their helmets should have pointy ears and their skates should have curly toes.

Agree with Playmaker and, by extension, GMR. If Mule was saying that he doesn't want to score goals, I'd be freaking out. He's saying that it isn't all that he wants to do. He's saying that he wants to be a more complete hockey player. He didn't start out as a goal scorer. The label was thrust on him when he started scoring goals. (Yeah, I know- "duh" statement of the year.) If he could get back to what he was before- a guy who earned the nickname "Mule"- and still score the goals, he'd be the player that he's quoted as saying that he wants to be. That's the guy I'm hoping to see. He's not comfortable in the spotlight. Maybe he needs someone else to do his interviews so he can just go out and play hockey.

Need more revenue?

If he showed Cleary's hustle, and Homer's grit he'd be our top scorer every year. Holland probably feels like Mattie Ross toward Rooster Cogburn from True Grit Holland: "They told me you're a man with true grit" Franzine: "What do you want girl, speak up it's supper time".

He needs to be more like Holmstrom. Holmstrom has half the talent Franzen does but he worked harder and did his job. Franzen needs to simplify and just play in front of e net.

It's a good thing none of you guys are coaches! The guy was making a pretty straightforward statement. He's at the other end of the spectrum of guys like Yzerman, Gretzky, Crosby, Ovechkin, etc. Goal-scorers are often very snobby. Good for him that he's not, but he can be, and a good coach is able to bring that out. Sort of like how Bowman would "coddle" Fedorov to keep him productive. Humans are very complex. Don't hate on him.

Franzen is a laid back dude. He's always saying s*** like this. It's the verbal equivalent of "shrugging". It'll be status quo for Franzen this season. If any of you are holding out hope for him to go full beast mode, you'll be disappointed. However, if you're more or less happy with what he brings vs what he gets paid, then there's no cause for alarm based on this latest quote from Mule.

The problem is that if Franzen isn't scoring goals, he doesn't bring anything else to the team. He needs to be more aggressive offensively and always look to shoot first. That doesn't always seem to be the case. We've seen him go on streaks where he's as good as anyone in the league at scoring goals. When he doesn't do it consistently, it appears it's because of him having a lazy work ethic. The converse argument is when people state that he produces at the pay level he's currently at. I guess that's true. But that doesn't mean it's OK for a guy to be lazier and underachieve a bit.

He needs to step up and PLAY HOCKEY, then, and not float all season only to contribute a few goals in the playoffs. I have my shoe ready to throw at him, pretty much every game. This article does nothing to endear him to me...

I despise Walmart, I don't shop there, and it pisses me off when people tell me "It's cheaper at Walmart". No one considers the tens of thousands of businesses and jobs they crushed when they save nine cents on a can of baked beans. To further Euro_Twins statement, I like Zachary Quinto a lot as Spock and think the modern movies (Into Darkness as well) are the best variants of the Star Trek films. I thought Waterworld was also an excellent movie. From now on anyone's "unpopular opinion" that I agree with is getting a like from me. This thread is fun.
