Nyquist is going to have to step it up. His 2 goals a game isn't getting it done. He needs 4 goals tonight for us to have a chance at winning.

from what i remember, franzen produced best when he had either the 2008 or 2009 playoffs.

I like the line changes, with the exception of Andersson on the wing. I realize, however, that there's nobody else so it'll have to do for now. Can't wait until Abby's back and in that spot though.

yes please. that would likely leave jurco at the first "injury call up" position. I'd really like to see him start the season in detroit but that top nine would be incredible. so stoked on how much sheahan (& everyone else) has broken out this year I'm convinced that team caused the salary cap era to begin

Franzen on the fourth line is ridiculous, I understand your disdain with him, but he is still valuable in the top 6, good for 25-30 goals. When your team lacks offense you don't cut the ice time of one of the few guys who can score.

You had me until Cleary... You let ALL UFA's go except Legwand (and $5.5M is too much) and possibly Alfie. You resign ALL RFA's (obviously) and then trade players accordingly to fit your needs. You left out Almqvist, he needs to be re-signed and then packaged in a trade IMO. I think Mrazek needs one more full year in GR to grow. I look to signing Tomas Vokoun to push Ugh harder because Monster and Mrazek haven't done that enough this season. Mrazek just with his inexperience and Monster, well, he gets injured too often.

We need to get a point out this game in the worst way, losing to BJ's made things a little too tight. Toronto will win a game eventually so we need to keep the distance.

Correct. With Jurco back I would like to see Franzen moved down to the 3rd line to play with Helm.. Helm seems to be able to get Franzen competing out there. Nyquist- Sheahan- Tatar Jurco- Legwand- Alfie Franzen- Helm- Bert Glendening- Anderson- Miller

That’s my point. Hard to nitpick Callahan’s 5 minutes of ice time when Todd BerTANIC is floating around out there like no one told him he already sank many years ago. I’d take Callahan at this point. I know Babcock likes his “big bodies” but Bert took a stupid careless penalty just because he refuses to keep his goddamn stick on the ice with TWO HANDS all the time. Plus he turned the puck over at least 6 times.

Rick, big difference here. bert is done. toast, finished, career over. Callahan is just beginning. maybe he becomes something, maybe not. we don't know. But he needs to play so we can find out. There are many reasons why he was a step slow. unfamiliar, nerves, told to focus on skating, etc....... I still think he is a 4th line checking guy, which is fine. maybe adds 10-15 goals per year. Great!

I thought it was a good call. The rule 63.6 states.... http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=26355 IMHO, a goal was imminent. The player had position, and he was going to have an easy tap in goal. Smith pushed him into the net and therefore caused the net to be dislodged. It really is a no brainer call in my opinion.

Another great game by Nyquist and the kids. Now if only some of our other players could score...

Ya god forbid those rookies don't carry the team to the cup, better trade them. Not like goose has 17 goals in 40 something games...
